Hi
If you want use $variable_2 in other pages of your site you most register a session
to use session you most call session_start() function then register your session variable like this
$_SESSION['variable_2'] = 1234;
then you can use $variable_2 in all pages that have session_start() function
session_start() most call befor html codes & php functions that have output like echo & print

Hi,
I think session is hard to manage but yet if you can manage it then it is really good.

Hey there ,
I have an architectural question :
I am working on CMS application build with ASP.Net and CSharp + SQL Server 2000
This application should be product that the company will continue to upgrade and to release new versions. So application design must meet this argent purposes :
1) Easy upgrades :ability to easily upgrade application and to distribute new release to older version’s customers
2) Support for plug-ins : ability to release some functionality as plug-ins .e.g. customers want to have the ability to export some data in xml – it can be achieved without massive changes in the application base, so the intuitive solution is some kind of plug-in
I understand that for web-application releases and plug-ins couldn’t be done with just dropping dll and registration of it . but any approach to this targets will help a lot in a long-term tasks.
Any help, links , resources are welcome
Thanks a lot for this grate site and community
and may the source be with you

It seems that somewhere the Char(10) character is being ignored/deleted from my input string.
The web app is C# and asp.net 1.1.
We scan a 2d barcode into a TextBox on the web form. The data from the scan contains Char(10) as a record seperator,, so I need to replace that Char(10) with another (Char(13) would be prefered).
Does the Browser not recognize the Char(10) or strip it?
I'm new to .net and C# and I'm at an impass.
Please help!

Hi, does anyone know how to write some javascript/vbscript or similar code that can detect whether my application (c#/winforms) is installed on the client's PC or not. If it is installed, then I want to give them one type of file from the web server, otherwise something else.
I tried writing a vbscript code to look at the registry, but this seems like it won't work on Firefox and probably not on newer versions of IE SP2 either due to (understandable) security concerns.
One way I thought of to do this is to write a very simple ie/firefox plugin that would be installed in my app that would essentially do nothing but be detectable by a script. But this seems like a lot of work to do something that should be easier.
Any ideas?
I do appreciate all your help!

Oka, I figured out an easy way to do this with Firefox -- All I have to do is write some Javascript to look at MIME types using the navigator.mimetypes DOM -- my application just happens to have its own extension and MIME type available. But, seems like IE doesn't have any such feature available.
I did find some VBScript code that attempts to instantiate one of the ActiveX controls from my application and sees if it returns false or true. However, this code is dated as Internet explorer blocks such code by default. (for obvious security reasons).
So, any other ideas how I can do this for IE?

I am creating a .csv file using ASP. For one column ,I am setting the datatype as NUMBER and no of decimals as 2. Yet when the file is created values like 200.00 and 1.00 get displayed as 200 and 1. Values like 1.11 or 20.12 get displayed correctly. The column datatype becomes GENERAL.
I dont want the decimal zeros to be chopped off.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you can skip using CSV and use HTML, you can apply a style to the TD cells that contain your decimals and Excel will correctly interpret them. To do this, save a sample Excel worksheet as an HTML file and look at the CSS class declarations; they contain mso-format directives that specify things like "0.00" and all works well when opening in Excel.
Don't forget to add the <meta name=ProgId content=Excel.Sheet> directive int he <HEAD> section of your HTML file.

Does anyone have code for using secure sockets (SSL) for Web services without certificates? The client wants to use SSL but the setup requires us to use a username and password rather than a certificate. Every sample that I've found uses certificates.

I am trying to figure out how to send data and my customer to my banks web site to enroll for paying their bills online.
The post string that I am suppose to use is:
https://banks_web_site.com/enroll?id=12345&name=Customer&accountid=98765&backurl=https://my_web_site.com/return.aspx
The bank will return to me the following info and my customer (so they can continue the payment process) via https://my_web_site.com/return.aspx?return=0&enroll_id=765431
I will be using VB. I'm having trouble trying to get this to work, any help would be appreciated.
Another thing that has me stumped is if I do what the bank calls a payment search, I send to them with no return url:
https://banks_web_site.com/pay_search?id=12345&&enroll_id=765432&days=2
They will return the following:
0:::
7777:1:1123123123:VISA:987554
8888:1:1231238744:AMEX:876454
Unlike the first example, the returned info is not qualified by a query string name. How do you receive this data ?

I have Simple HTML FORM with SEVERAL submit buttons (have different behavior of this form processing). How Can i handle with them ? How can i see in my PhP (CGI) script, which button was submitted ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi
You can Define your submit buttons as following
<input type=submit name=act value=do1><br />
<input type=submit name=act value=do2><br />
<input type=submit name=act value=do3>
then in your PHP code check like this
switch($act )<br />
{<br />
case "do1":<br />
break;<br />
case "do2":<br />
break;<br />
case "do3":<br />
}
depend on the submit button has been clicked, the value of act will change.

you can do in another way too. You may have different forms for each submit button.
If you have some common values for each forms then you can use javascript function for getting that value. You can pass different action case for each button.

Hi
Wow PHP! congratulation
It seem you are using IIS, you most add .php extension to IIS configuration, & tell IIS to opne .php file with c:\php\php4.exe (depend on your PHP version & installation path).
If you want to use php & does not need ASP, I suggest to use Zend Studio Server with Apache, or if you want to use IIS use Zend Studio Server on IIS ,It enable Debuging & some othere features. you can fined in in http://www.Zend.com[^]
