You'll need to explain more. What do you mean by "insert line number"? Where do you want a line number to go?

Hi
if you are talking about Line Numbers for the source code in Visual Studio .NET 2003 then do the following
Click Tools -> Options then Select "Basic" in the side bar and finally check "Line numbers" under "Display"

Your question is a bit unclear and unspecific. I would suggest that you read this article[^] as a startup.

I have a Database wich contains two tables : "Notice" and "Company". Notices contains notices for companys. Relation between tables are Company.CID and Notice.CID. One company can have several Notices
Problem: How do I put all my company-names in a combo instead with DataMember(Name) and DataValue(CID) and when I save my Notice the Company.CID is saved to Notice.CID
I hope you understand ... I want to change companyname on a Notice using their real name instead of using CID ...
Please help

Currently i have a combo box with a single select and can also enter a text.
Now i need to select more than one from the combobox. Just like our listbox functionality. How to implement without changing the UI. After selecting the items from the listbox and when it is double clicked, the selected items should be shown in the combo box.
I have a way. But it looks tedious one.. I'll explain it in detail...
I have a textbox and combobox (width is reduced to show only the down arrow). So for the user it'll look like combobox only. And when the user clicks on the downarrow, we can display the listbox and allowing to select multi select.
Is this the way that it can be done.?

Ummm...The ComboBox doesn't support multiple selections. You'll have to use a different control that does, like maybe a CheckedListBox.

Hi,
I have been working on a VB.net project. where I want to use drag and drop controls. Right now, I can able to create the controls on runtime with following code
Dim btn as new Button
me.controls.add(btn)
btn.location=new point(23,34)
btn.show
like..
The only problem is how to move the controls (command buttons) on the form to place it right place on the form.
i tried mouse down and mouse up methods to do it. But, the button created in one event handling sub routine is not Available in other sub routines.As i am declaring it as private sub routine.(I need a global runtime button to be created in a event method so that other event procedures also shared that button).do u understand?
Please help me in this regard.
Thank you

Why don't you use the 'Drag & Drop' options in .Net which you can link to the events of the control during the creation. After this you don't need to know anything about the control as it aranges the drag and drop himself.
All you'l have to do is link some private functions that deal with the drag & drop to the related events of the control and you're done.
Good example: MSDN article

Thank you for your reply
The solution showed in the MSDN is ok. But I need a control to be created at runtime and add mouse events to it (double click event).
In the MSDN example case, textboxes created on the form are type friend with event. so all the events are handled by with events method.
But, ,if I create the textbox at runtime ,how do I write the code for event handling?
Can you please explain me with sample code?
Please create the control at runtime and do other tings (drag&drop and move).
Thank you,
ramesh

The below example is for binding the double click event to a function, but you can use a similar method for all events.
sub CreateControls()<br />
Dim cnt as Control = new Button();<br />
' Add placement logic the usual way<br />
AddHandler cnt.DoubleClick addressof onDoubleClick<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
private sub onDoubleClick(sender as object, e as EventArgs)<br />
' Execute double click code<br />
end sub<br />
For more on events see: MSDN help
Note you will have to bind the drag & drop functions if you choose to use this option.

Would anyone happen to know how to transfer any file through a networkstream, sort of like
'Load image wanted to be transferred<br />
Dim TP As Image = Image.FromFile(Path)<br />
'Save to stream to be transferred<br />
TP.Save(NetworkStream, Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg)<br />
TP.Dispose() 'Get rid of it
Except for any file (images, etc media(avi,qt,bmp,etc), plaintext files, executables, etc).
I've been looking at the other classes in system.io but nothing I've tried has worked so far.

Sorry for being so long to reply. No, that isn't exactly what I am looking for, although I sort of found my own answer. I was able to send images etc by using a filestream and a binaryreader with readbytes, but that doesn't seem to work with any other file type. The output is slighty different from orignal file, if you could help me figure that out.

I have not many clues of what to do... I'm using VS 2003 (VB.net)
I'm trying to create controls on the fly, creating them is just fine. But if I afterwards want to change one of them, how to make that possible?
This code is just a simple example:
Private Sub Beginner()<br />
For i As Integer = 1 To 10<br />
Dim p As New Panel<br />
<br />
p.Name = "pnlThing" & i<br />
p.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.Blue<br />
p.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(10, 10)<br />
p.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(10 * i, 10)<br />
<br />
Me.Controls.Add(p)<br />
Next i<br />
<br />
End Sub
Is there a way to make a reference so I can use pnlThing1.*method*?

You can iterate over the Me.Controls collection and do a comparison of the Name property with the name that you want to find. Then, just use that control.
