The time of notification is not known infact user save it in database, u r interpreting the problem wrong. Infact i have to make some type of service that would continuously listen to the db.

How about writing a service that polls the database? Sending email is trivial, look for the System.Web.Mail namespace.

Hi,
I tried but could not find much help regarding reading config file in .Net2.0.
based on what i read i did the following:
string xxx= ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("XXX");
but
i get the following error msg while compiling:
'System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. C:\projects\mobilife\CAA\src\Fokus\Caa\Main\CAAMain.cs 82 17 CAA

You have no reference to the System dll, or it's the wrong version. Add the reference, or if you have one, remove it and add it again so that you get the correct version.

thanks, but how do i add reference?
sorry.. newbie

|
|
|

Right click on References in the Solution Explorer.

hi,
i removed the reference and added reference to System.dll once again but i still have the same problem.
any idea?
|
|
|
|
|
Is it just this project that acts up? Do you have any other project that works or not works?
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
aha...
i created a new project and it works there.
my previous project was for PocketPC. does it mean that this is not supported in Compact framework?
if so then what r other possibilities to read configuration properties.
thanks a lot for your help.
regards,
|
|
|
|
|
No, of course a NameValueCollection is supported in the Compact Framework. It's used for a lot of things, like Request.Form and Request.Querystring.

b { font-weight: normal; }

what about methods to read configuration file?
i get the error when i do the following:
string xxx = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("XXX");
is it the problem with System.configuration.dll file which i have to reference it?
|
|
|
|
|
The System.Configuraiton namespace is in the System.dll file.
If you get the same error message, it still has nothing to do with reading the configuration file, it's some problem with the reference.

b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
i guess so.. do you think it is the problem with the additional reference: System.configuration.dll that has ConfigurationManager?
|
|
|
|
|
What is the "System.configuration.dll" you are talking about?

Thanks for the link,
I have already visited that link,
I have also written small program for the same
but now i want to send and receive msgs to another machine in the Workgroup.
Thanks and Regards,

Use "FormatName:DIRECT=OS:machinename\private$\queuename" to specify path of MSMQ on other machines.
For the limitations of the private queues, you can check msdn or ask here.

Hi,
How can i migrate the source code of application in Visual C++ to Visual C#(2005)
Thanks
Wiiliam Ramirez

I don't think that's possible. The best way is to convert all model code to managed C++ and place it inside an assembly. You will have to rebuild the GUI using Windows Forms in C# using the assembly created using managed C++.
WM.
What about weapons of mass-construction?

Hi Everyone!
How can I see the difference between two instances in debug?
In MFC you got the instance address in the debug windows.
ex. strText {0x00035458 "123456789012345"} ATL:CStringT<>

How about doing an Object.ReferenceEquals(x,y) in the Watch window? You can also do GetHashCode()[^] but it's not guaranteed to be unique for each instance.

Hi, Thank you for the answer.
But I don´t have the two instances at that point, to be accessed.
I wish to use Debug.WriteLine() to get the address (id) of the instance into the debug text or text file.
GetHashCode() don´t work hence: "If two objects of the same type represent the same value, the hash function must return the same constant value for either object."
Best regards,

Hello,
I have a problem I hope you have help me with. I am using a datagrid for displaying products from a customer's shopping list. The shopping list is downloaded into a datagrid.
Table name: ShoppingList
Field names: ProductCode, ProductName, Price
Using the following code that works ok.
SqlConnection cnn = new SqlConnection("server=.; Database=ShoppingService; Integrated security = true");
SqlCommand cmd = cnn.CreateCommand();
SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter();
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
cmd.CommandText = "SELECT ProductName, Price FROM ShoppingList";
da.SelectCommand = cmd;
da.Fill(ds,"ShoppingList");
grdShoppingList.SetDataBinding(ds,"ShoppingList");
However, I have used the table styles so that I have a quantity and select columns. Qantity to be a comboBox and select to be check box.
This is so that the customer can select the quantity from the combox and check the select the checkbox when they have selected this product to buy.
The problem that is does the display the combo box and checkbox columns when loaded from the database, if I commet out the database code then it
will display them.
I need to display what in the database with the extra columns designed in code to display the quantity, and select columns.
My datagrid should have the following columns. Product, Price, Quantity (comboBox), Select (checkBox).
Product and price display if I load from the database.
Quantity and select, if I commet out the database code.
I need both.
Thank you very much in advance.
Happy New Year,
Steve
