I have an application that fills a combobox with the contents of an xml file.
The xml file represents superscript 4 with ⁴ which shows as: ⁴
I can change the font of the combobox so that the superscript 4 is shown but it doesn't work on all fonts and to be honest the ones where it does work look hideous.
I'm just looking for a way of displaying the superscript 4, does anyone have any ideas?

The html code for superscript is <sup>. I don't know how well that works in a combobox, though.

The problem I'm having is that I'm reading an xml file and have simple nodes with text so I can cast the node value to a string. If I use the <sup> tag I can't cast to a string and I would have to format the text in the combobox.
It seems that utf-8 encoded characters is the simplest method if I can just get the font issue right.
On the next message is a copy of the code I'm using to populate a collection of objects that is used as the datasource for the combobox.
The display member of the combobox can be either the Name or Abbreviation nodes.

I don't see the problem with storing the tags in a string. Properly encoded in the xml file, it would look like this, as example:
<node>A value with <sup>superscript</sup> text.</node>
If you can't store the tags in the xml file, can't you replace the unicode character after you have gotten the data:

The problem is that the text doesn't show in the combobox.
I presume (and I haven't tried it yet) that if I changed the text to "<sup>4</sup>" then this is what would show in the combobox and not the superscript character. The combobox isn't in a web browser its on a windows form.
What I've doen is set the default font to lucida sans unicode and everything is fine, I'm almost sure it is a font issue.

Autodesk used to do a viewer called voloview that was free. Autodesk include VBA in their CAD products so you may be able to use the voloview application as a com object.

about 5 years ago i found one. It was free and worked really well for what we wanted. I am sorry but i really cant remember the name of it and i havent worked forthat company for a long time. Not really much help i know but all i can say is there is at least one out there. Keep searching.

You're second app whas to be told which port to use. The only way it can find out is if it scans all the ports (preferrably 1024-65535) and eventually connects to the correct one.
So how do other applications find the port? Easy, there are two of them. A control port that is well-known to the client app and doesn't change, and a data port that handles all data communications. The client would receive the data port number during some negotiation that you implement on the control port.
What an example fo this? FTP does this. Port 21 is the FTP control port, 20 is the default port that data is sent over.

Hello, I'm developing a program to send mail, using VS2005, with then System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient and System.Net.Mail.MailMessage objects.
By now, It works properly, but now I have to let the user sign the message with a certificate... and that objects don't support it (the only support certificates to stablish a SSL connnection). The only way could be to use Outlook objects??
I don't have any idea, I think perhaps I could write the message in RFC822 format, and then sign and encript some parts, by I can't believe that I am the only man in the world with this trouble

Finally I will buy the Chilkat component, because it's worthless to use the Outlook objects, and I the other posibilities are more difficult than useful.
I recomend to other developers don't waste time in this, because there aren't alternatives (but buying a good component).

i want to retrieve the actual! column width of the datagrid after the user has modified the width manually in the head of the grid. The dgMaster.TableStyles(0).GridColumnStyles property allways gives the programmed width before the modification.

Hmmmm...you may want to verify that. For me, the .TableStyles(0).GridColumnStyles property always returns the actual column width. But I'm only using the one Tablestyle. Do you have multiple styles defined? Also, are you referencing this property in response to a certain event being fired? I reference the property immediately after the user resizes a column in the MouseOver event.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to insert text at the cursor location in an Outlook mail. I saw the object browser for MailItem but could only find the "Body" property through with there is no way to find out the cursor location.

Now I use a datagrid and I want a column of this datagrid is the combobox.
I use DataGridTableStyle and I add a DataGridComboBoxColumnStyle in the column. The ComboBox has 3 field: DataSource, DisplayMember, ValueMember.
But now I have a problem: after I choose one value from ComboBox, it return ValueMember and display ValueMember on DataGrid. Don't display DisplayMember on the DataGrid.
I want after I choose one value from ComboBox, it will return ValueMember and display DisplayMember on the datagrid.
