I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Shockwave viewing on and Apple Mac. I have been asked to look a web site for a colleague. It uses a shockwave file for a banner and another for a menu. On Mac these are not displayed for some reason. The HTML includes code to download shockwave if needed, but I suspect it works with IE only.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi!!
I have the following in my.js file. It works fine in IE, but does not display anything in Mozilla. How can I change this so that it displays in both browsers? Preferably in all (or most browsers).
"My ABC Website" is just an example name of a website.
window.defaultStatus = "My ABC Website";

Hi,
I am using Visual Web Developer with Framework 2.0.
I have the following page called default.aspx. At the top of this .aspx page, I have the follwoing:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="default.aspx.cs" Inherits="Platters.DefaultPage" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="Platters" TagName="Footer" Src="~/controls/Platter_footer.ascx" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="Platters.Includes.Common" %>
The namespace Platters.Includes.Common has a globals.cs class that contains global variables used across the site.
Now if I want to use these global variables in the Platter_footer.ascx control, must import that name space again? TO me it does not make sense because I have to import this namespace in the default.aspx page, and in the user control. Why twice??
The top of my Platter_footer.ascx control looks like:
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Platter_footer.ascx.cs" Inherits="Platters.Includes.Controls.Footer" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="Platters.Includes.Common" %>
Is it maybe better to import these namespaces in the .cs of each file, instead of at the page level?
Regards,
ma se

The user control is compiled separately. It doesn't know that you will use it in that specific page when it's compiled, so you have to import all namespaces that the control uses in the code of the control.

Hi,
I have this code for a page...
<%session ("x") = "mySymbol"%>
This is all the code that is on the page, and I have called it call.asp.
Is it possible to change the code to...
<%session ("x") = "y"%>
where a hyperlink from another page will pass 'y' as being the value 'mySymbol'?
I have quite a few pages and I don't wanna make up a directory with 2000 files in it.

Use Request.QueryString("y") to get the value from the url.

Thanx Guffa for your reply.
I am afraid I am a novice at ASP. The code I displayed was given to me ages ago. I experimented with the #Include file and it worked by fluke.
Would you be kind enough to show me how to put the line
Request.QueryString("y")
into a hyperlink?

free ASP webhosting will be difficult to find,
hosting.indiatimes.com is a good cheap way of getting one.

Try this one: www.aspspider.net[^]
From their site:
<br />
AspSpider.NET offers free web hosting with ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server support. This is an absolutely free offer from a group of .NET programmers for the peer technical community.<br />
Haven't checked it out myself, but that's 'cause I only found this yesterday.

I suggest you check out DotNetNuke. It is by far the fastest way to build a fully featured web site, it's Open Source VB.NET and best of all it is FREE. I built my site http://www.greenmarines.com in only two weeks with a forum, photo gallery, chat, news, blogs, and more.

This is a valid wsdl file. The proxy creator utility in VS 2003 IDE accepts it and tries to create a proxy, but it fails to create one. The message is as follows:
------------------
Micorosoft IDE Message:
Could not find a part of the path "C:\Documents and Settings\computer
user\Application Data\Microsoft\Visual Studio\7.1\TempWebDiscovery\
4c008bfc-605a-497b-bfbe-54d82d2341ed\TestWsdl\DishSvc.wsdl
----------------------------
TempWebDiscovery exists as well ss the directory name in code that follows, but it is empty.
The url of the web service exists, but not created with Microsoft Products.
Is it the present state of 'interoperability'?
