I suspect that you do not have the correct version of the .NET framework on the client or that you are trying to run the app from an untrusted source (see the framework config control panel).

You really need to run your in the debugger and test it cometely before you deploy a Release version somewhere. You'll need the debugger to find this error because you don't have enough information to diagnose this.
You're code, somewhere, is trying to use an object that doesn't have an instance. Many begginers make the mistake of calling a method with some parameters, and expect an object to be returned by the method, then they try to use the object that WASN'T returned by the method for some reason.

hello guys,
I am looking for a free component which enables me to use encryption using vb6 preferabley DES or RSA or alternatively any other one will go.
In case it is vb.net possibly would like to be able to call it from vb6/vbscript.
any example, resources around?
Any help will be appreciatd..

There are several encryption engines in the .NET Framework. DES, DSA, RC2, Rijndael, RSA, TripleDES, as far as I can see.

You could even make a library to do what you want and expose it to COM, callable by VBScript and VB6, using the methods outlines in Exposing .NET Framework Components to COM[^].

The short answer is No. If your application is to run on the client machines then you need the .NET Framework on the clients.

The loss of performance using .NET in real terms is relative to your expectations.

Mate, since I know nothing of your application, quantitative measures of its processing or database requirements, nor budget for this project, I can give you no real idea of this. If you need help on that, it sounds like a job for a professional consultant. I'd be glad to help but I'm in a different continent.

bhavna,
You have very under-specc'd hardware. What is it that you are trying to achieve? What is the nature of the app? Is this for a commercial enterprise or an assignment/homework?

Are you asking if installing the .NET Framework will degrade the overall performance of a PC? No!
Bhavna Varshney wrote: cud u tell me what shud be the min LAN speed and h/w requirements of clients as well as server...
Only you can answer that question! We known nothing of your application and how you implemented any communication between your clients and servers. Only you can test your application and come up with it's minimum system requirements.

This may be a bit harder (may not even be possible depending on your application).
You could write it as an ASP.NET application and then just make sure the client machines are on the network and have web browsers. Then there is mo need to upgrade them all...
-or-
just install the framework with a SMS push or manually (Whatever is your cup oh' tea).

I create a document by using a class and inheriting from PrintDocument. On the PrintPage event i keep adding new pages etc. This part is succesfull so far because i then view the document in the print preview dialog all 34 pages.
However when i attempt to print the document by clicking on the pring button of the dialog control ONLY THE LAST PAGE GETS SENT to the printer.
I have played around with printersettings option but to no avail.
If you can think of why i have this problem please let me know,
i would be very grateful if you could help.
Thanks.
Mo.

If you print without previewing first does the problem happen?
Can you show us a small code snippet that exhibits the problem - I don't have the same issue when I do print preview / print...

Auto populate a word document with Visual studio 2003
I am using Visual studio 2003
MSSQL Server 2003
I would like to know if there are any articles out there
that shows
1. how to auto populate a word document with db fields
such as Last name, first name, phone
2. How to view the document on the web page
3. Print the document from the web page

This is what you need...
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5s12ew2x(en-US,VS.80).aspx[^]
- or -
If you have Office 2003 installed, do this:
1. Add Remove Programs -> MS Office -> Change
2. Click on "Add Remove Features"
3. Click Next
4. Check the box next to "Choose Advanced Customization of Applications"
5. Expand each Tree Node next to the application you want and make sure ".NET Programibility Support" is included in your installed components.
This will install the "Office 2003 Primary Interop Assemblies"
Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Publisher all have exposed assemblies.
(I just did a lot of work with this for an Outlook project I did)

Thanks I did as you said. Now I have done above do you know of any paper or tutorial that will explain how to autopopulate the word document and view it with the web page?

Did you look at the webpage, it has all the info you need.
This link takes you to some basic examples of using word documents.

Hi, now I have a sequence of bitmaps, I am wanting to put those into an AVI stream.
I have read about avifil32.dll but cant find it or any useful examples for .NET 1.1. And wasnt that impressed with Windows Media SDK. As I dont need all those other functions.
Images will be taken maybe 2 - 10 times a second.
Can anyone tell me or link me up to how to use and set up avifile32?
thanks,
Brian
