Thank you for the links and for your time John. I went to the Doc/View after reading your first post (out of mere curiosity) but obviously missed these two articles. I got stuck on such articles:http://www.codeproject.com/docview/nodoc_views.asp[^] which are a bit more elaborated.

I was perfectly aware of that and I totally agree with you. No offense meant in my post, it is only that I have been looking for a really simple tutorial and did not expect to have to look that closer to the article list to find that.

Hello, sorry to disturb you all. I am newbie here. I would like to generate two graphs on the same axis at C/C++ platform. The first graph to be generated is an already recorded speech that will be displayed when one button is pressed. The second graph is displayed real-time as speech is spoken into microphone.
I would like to display these two graphs at same axis where first graph is displayed when a particular button is pressed while the second graph is displayed real-time.
Hope to hear you soon. Please help, please. thank you very much.
regards
bella

Exactly what is your problem.. i.e. You don't have any graph control or you not able to get the x adn y coordinate... please clear.. or you can try this canned search :-

Very doubtful. It's highly unlikely that the error ceases to exist in Debug mode. You may not see signs of it, but I bet it is still there. You will need to set a breakpoint on the SetActivePage() statement and single-step into the code from there until you pinpoint the offending statement.

Access it with its .lib file or go by dynamic loading using LoadLibrary.

oh.. sorry for the late reply, i didn't notice your reply.
when you ahve a dll, you can use it in two ways,
Satic , dynamic.
satic linking maps the functions in the DLL with the .lib file it has. it is done in the complie time itself. but in the dynamic linking, we load the function only when it is needed. that really reduces the memory consumpion but a little bit slow when compared with static linking., in static linking you can use the functions directly as if it defined in a .cpp implementation file. but the actual implementation of the funtion would be defined in the DLL. so you dont need to worry about that. what you have to do is to add the name of the .lib file in the project settings , link option.
for static linking you will have this combination of files
test.dll, test.lib, test.h.
(imple) (map) (interface)
in dynamic loading, you use
GetProcAddress to locate the function in the dll. so that it's loaded in the runtime.
is it ok for you?..

VuNic

We are using VC6 and we use some common libraries on a shared path (both static libraries and Dlls with static linkage).
Normally i'd just leave the *.lib and *.dll file in the debug directory. I was able to build everything with that, but when I wanted to debug into the library, I had to rebuild the library. Obviously some files were missing.
Can anybody tell all the files which belong in the debug directory ?
Are there any files in the release directory, which should be in there ? (except *.lib and / or *.dll)
(End of short question)
Some of my thoughts:
I think I should leave all the *.pdb files in there.
But do I need the *.exp files ?
What about the *.obj, *.sbr, *.res, *.pch files ? Do I need them to debug ?
Any help is appreciated !
Bernhard

You should be able to debug a DLL or EXE posessing the soure code files, the PDB and the DLL or EXE files. Others you mentioned are intermediate files used during compile or link.

Hello,
I want to display automatically my application in OS language. I do not want to use satellite DLL. I would like to have all resource strings in several string table in one resource file.
Is it possible ?
Thank you,
Freg

Yes it is possible.
BUT..
I am just able to talk about VC6 / no Unicode builds, because this is what we use here.
We didn't had a problem with this so far.. It can be a little bit tricky with different codepages.
But we never had to include Asian languages. No clue if you are going to have problems with those.

as he said.. insert the string table in the resource file. Translate the strings.
There are some programs out there which aid you in translating those files. But in general this is it.
I think the asked "Is it possible to do this?"
And I said: "Yes you can, as long as you don't use languages which need more than 1 byte per character"

yeah ok... i just understood more than he asked...
i thought he was asking for "how to do this...".
but tell me, ,as you already do it like this, could you explain a brief piece of code (considering we already have several resource string tables, and we already know how to load/display the needed strings) on how we can switch from one language to one other ?

Normally it takes the system preference's language. So you shouldn't need to worry about this. But you can change the behavior by hand when calling:
SetThreadLocale(MAKELCID(LANG_ENGLISH,SORT_DEFAULT));
This would force the program to use the English strings after the call.
One small problem you are going to encounter (at least in our setup):
If the strings are in a different codepage, you are not going to see the "real" strings out of this. But as soon as the computer is set up to correct codepage, you see the strings correctly.
If you'd use a unicode app, this problem should be solved (at least as much as I know.. never had the chance to try it).
