I have a part on the website I'm creating. Its for downloads... But I want only certian people who have certain Usernames and Passwords can access this. I do not want other people to get one without permission. How would I do this?
In the end we're all just the same

Visual Studio 2005 makes this an easy task.
If you dont have visual studio 2005 this may not be the same
Go to:
Website > ASP.net Configuration > Click on the Security tab
Here you can add/remove users, set roles (admin, member etc.) and set access rules.
So say you have the download page in a download directory in the project. You can restrict certian users(roles) from accessing the directories contents. If they are an invalid user they will just be redirected to the login page (assuming you have one).
That what your looking for

is there no other way to do it uisng a ListView class or something like that ?

I misunderstood your previous post. Yes, you don't need tools for office if you're just trying to simulate the view to the left on Outlook. You might be able to pull this off using a verticle-oriented ToolStrip in .NET 2.0. Otherwise, I'm sure you'd be able to find a control out there that would do this for you.

not on the left of the outlook ..in the middle of the outlook..

For that you're gonna need to write a custom control or buy one. I don't think there's functionality like that in the framework, although you could throw together several of the controls into one and get something close to that.

can u help me to write that custom control ?
as i am a student i cant afford to buy that Divelements suite
i know that a ListView along with someother controls can do the job..but me not in a position to figure out how to do that

I can't. I work full time and also part-time as a contractor; unless you're willing to pay me a small amount to write this for you, there's no way I'm spending the little free time I have to work Pro Bono.

No Problem i myself will figure it out how to do it & will post an article here

Hello
I have developed some programs creating Office 2000 documents.
Can I use these programs also with Office 2003?
Are there any problems I should know about?
thanks

Hi
I have :
decimal dollars = 71.40;
decimal exchangeRate = 1.76;
decimal amount = dollars / exchangeRate ; // 40.568181818181818181818181818
Now, 'amount' is a large number. How can I make sure that amount has only 2 numbers at the end, like 40.56
Do you think, I should round the number to the highest, so 40.56818.... becomes 40.57
I hope u understand what I am getting at.
Thanks

For display purpose
amount.ToString("#.##");
will display to 2 significant digets

This depends entirely upon your requirements.

You can use the decimal.Round method to round it.
decimal dollars = 71.40;
decimal exchangeRate = 1.76;
decimal amount = decimal.Round(dollars / exchangeRate, 2); The second argument specifies the number of digits to round to.
Decimal.Round Method[^]

what is the difference between color and colorindex? thanks very much!
|
|
|
|
|
a color is often represented as either a 16,24 bit RGB value (32bit color has 8 bit alpha or unused so its still 24)
a color index is an integer value representing an element in a color palette.

Hello everybody how add and manige access data base with c#???
bye
|
|
|
|
|
|
ok.That is work but how to update data on file??
|
|
|
|
|
There are articles about this all over the internet. Just do a little searching and you should find a good example
|
|
|
|
|
To update the data in the file you simply use the Update() method of the data adapter.
ex.
//I'm assuming you have a OleDbDataAdapter named dAdapter and a DataSet named dSet
OleDbCommandBuilder cmd = new OleDbCommandBuilder( dAdapter );

dAdapter.Update(dSet, "Table name");
Hope that helps
