Hello,
I have created a report that when the customers number is selected from a combobox, it displays the individual items for that cust fine. I have another combobox that displays the states for each customer, so if I selected NY, I would like to see all the Customers for that region in the report.
I have put a break point right where my table adapter fills my dataset item, and I see exactly the results that I'm looking for...
After that line of code is this: Me.ReportViewer1.RefreshReport()
When I execute the code, I get a blank report. Is there anywhere in my reportviewer that I need to specify multiple records?
Thanks,
Rashar

Hi,
i want to create a multiple datasets and bind it seperately. the query will look like
select * from table where id=ID
now,
if id = 1,
i want to generate dataset1 just for records with id=1 and
if id = 2,
i want to generate dataset2 just for records with id=2 and so forth
so that i can bind those datasets to different web control say for webchart component or a datagrid.
Please note id can be any value from null to 100 and the select statement can return 0 to n records based upon id.
hope my question makes sense.
please help!!!

Hi all,
I want to get the grammar suggestions from Microsoft Word 2003 Pro. I can get the problems but not the correction offerings, has anybody done this and if so could you possibly point me in the right direction.
This is what i have so far
Dim oWord As New Word.Application
Dim oDoc As New Word.Document
Dim oRng As Word.Range
Dim i As Long
Dim oGrErrors As Word.ProofreadingErrors
oWord.Visible = False
oWord.WindowState = 0
oWord.Top = -3500
oDoc = oWord.Documents.Add
oRng = oDoc.Range
oRng.Text = strPhrase
oGrErrors = oRng.GrammaticalErrors
For i = 1 To oGrErrors.Count
oRng = oGrErrors.Item(i)
MsgBox(oRng.Text)
Next
oDoc.Close(0)
oWord.Quit(0)
oWord = Nothing
The above example just picks out the problems and shows you them which is useless unless i write my own grammar dictionary. I have managed to get the spelling suggestions but there seems to be no way of getting the grammar suggestions.
Note: Calling CheckGrammar provides the grammar check interface which i don't want the user to see or use, this needs to be an internal check.
I have been looking everywhere and found that no-one seems to have an example of this, please help.
Thanks

I am checking out the BindingNavigator control and might use it if I can solve one last issue. I am using this control to navigate a dataset table displayed in a group of textboxes. I would like to allow the user to select a record to jump to. Is there a way to tell the BindingNavigator to go to a particular record or position number?
Thank you
Brian

Hi Guys!!;)
I get a TypeInitializer Exception in the Load event of the Main Form of my Project. I have called a Sub Procedure insidethe Load Event of the Form called FillLvLogs() which is present in a Module in my Project. This exception is coming whenever i try to access any Sub or Function inside the Module. Please help me. I'm frustrated with this Exception . Any suggestions are Welcome!! Thanx!! Cya! Bye!!

The TypeInitializerException exception is a wrapper around the exception that is thrown inside the constructor of the class.
Examine the code in the constructor to see it there is something there that might cause an exception.
See what the inner exception is. If this is not shown in the error message, catch the exception and throw it's inner exception to see what the real error is.

I believe this exception occurs when the .NET framework fails to connect to a COM object, ActiveX, or PInvoke unmanaged code. Are you using any unmanaged libraries? If so, then that's probably it.

I have an access db that I am accessing through a dataform in a vb.net windows application. It ran fine until I made a change to a field of a record that had been previously entered and updated. After I make the change and try to update the database an error message comes up, "syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". Any suggestions anyone?

Your SQL string is probably being built incorrectly.
You should run the debugger and take a look at the SQL string before it gets sent to the database. It's the only way you're going to find out what's wrong.
Also, if you have any apostrophes ['] in your fields, then you need to properly escape them.

I am using dot.Net
I have a control table with Menu group and Group Items. I display the Menugroups on a treeview control. For each item on the group tree, there are corresponding items that is displayed in the listview. There is no problem with the treeview items. My problem is how to know a the particular listview items selected or clicked by the user.
There is nothing like Key property or index property to track the listview items in dot Net
Please assist

You can store information in the ListViewItem.Tag property.

After doing a lot of searches on many many forum, i feel that this one is closest to the help lvl i need...
Introduction:"
*Lift your hand and put it on top of any key on your keyboard. example [F]*
*Put down you finger and press this key [F] ... as a result you will see the character "F" writen on your screen.
*From what ive seen sendkeys.send("f") or sendkeys.send("F") i belive it only sends a msg of the character "F"\"f" instead of reproducing the signals the keyboard makes.
My Problem:"
*** I need an program that each 'x' seconds will press the keys "space bar"\"q"\"w"\"e" ... i dont know if my solution is setting something like hook.dll and control it thru there . And after that, i need the program i made to control my mouse to be able to move the mouse & preform clicks, within any game (ex:liniage\mu-online\World of warcraft...etc)
Basically i need a program that mimics the functions of the mouse & keyboard. I trust you gurus will help me on this... cause im allmost getting a nervius tick

If you are not simply looking for code to do this yourself, i.e. you only want to simulate mouse and keystrokes, then there is an excellent BASIC like scripting language called AutoIt which even compiles to standalone exe's.
goto http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/index.php for details and downloads (its FREEWARE).
Hope that helps.;)

I know in visual studios before 2005 you could make a database connection in server explorer then simply drag and drop the connection path to the form and it would make the connection strings and all for you. It doesn't appear to work in 2005 this way.
Basically I wanted it to make the oledbconnection and all for me like in the old days. Sure I can code it manually but it would be more convenient the old way. Is there something I'm doing in correctly cause honestly I don't even see the old oledbconnection dataset and so on controls in the tool box like they use to be.
Just started playing 2005 version so please pardon my ignorance.

Mixing the UI and the data layers? Uugh... This whole dragging and dropping database connections on to the form encourages some of the worst designs for software. You really ought to try and get out of the habit of doing that.

Sure, it's convenient. But it make the software a maintenance nightmare.
Sorry that I am not more sympathetic to your plight, but you should really consider creating some sort of DAO (Data Access Object) of your own to manage all database connectivity within your application. Then you don't have to worry about dragging and dropping connections all over the place, because you already have a class that does all that for you.

You wouldn't happen to have a good url that would explain how to do this in code would you. Its been a while since I have coded using visual studios and things have obviously changed.
Please give me a url other than a generic google.com or msdn.com.
Also, what happen to the code that windows compiler generates? What I mean is in 2002/2003 version you could click on the designer and you would see a region that says windows generated code so you could find things that the compiler made for you and modify them if needed. I don't see that anywhere now when I click on the designer in 2005.
Sorry to be a pest and hope I'm not just getting back into the game and I'm lost

Do what in code? Create a DAO? That has never changed as it wasn't a function of VS in the first place. You should do a search on "Layering Pattern", "Data Access Layer" or "Data Provider" - I know you didn't want a generic search engine link, but I don't have the time to look for every document that might help you. It really is a skill you ought to learn if you don't already know how to use internet search engines.

.NET 2.0 supports a concept called partial classes. That means the class is split over two or more files. In the solution explorer you can expand the form class and see more files underneath it. The windows designer code is in there. This is not the compiler that generates this code, it is the visual studio designer. You should never edit code created by the code generator, this is increasingly true in VS2005 because VS regards the designer file to be its own that no one else will touch.
