Ya, reference the dll in C# and use it. So far it works for me.

In your C# project, add a Reference to the .DLL that you wrote in VB.NET. You'll then be able to access any Public classes, methods and properties in that .DLL.
You can find more information in Creating and Using C# DLLs[^] on MSDN.

Under Windows 2000, the Defrag.msc utility requires user interaction to work.
Under XP, there is the DEFRAG.EXE utility that was written to be run from the command-line and is scriptable.
But, in either case, the person running the Defrag needs Administrator privileges to the machine.
Description of the New Command Line Defrag.exe Included with Windows XP[^]
The API's to do this are VERY complicated. Misusing them could irrepairably damage your NTFS volumes.

Sorry, but you have 0% chance of getting this coded for you. Give it a try youself and post back with any specific problems you have.

Let me get this straight. Your Professor gave you an assignment and your looking for all the source code to do what he wants so you don't have to write it yourself? Is that correct?

whats the scope of .net when i go in market after learning

Your best bet is to check the major job boards, like Monster, Dice, CareerBuilder, ..., where you expect to get a job. Check to see where the jobs are and what they're looking for.

It really depends on your experience and the amount of money you want to earn.
A lot of the higher paid roles, want x number of years of .NET development, and if you don't have that then they look at the x number of years you've coded in a non-managed environment.

hi there
I need a function in vb6 that hides the desktop and the start menue from the user and a function to show it again.
thanks alot
|
|

|

What do you mean by "hides"?
There are Win32 functions to start the screen saver or lock the workstation, but using those depends on exactly what you want to happen.

Hi guys!
need some help...
i have created a window service which inserts some values in sql server2005 after every 30 min after chacking some details. the service is running fine but it takes the CPU usage to 100 percent while it is starting..
i m using a while loop to check the current time and start the timer as the data insertion must be done at exact time like 12:00 pm, 12:30 pm; 1 pm and so on.
the loop goes on iterating till the current system is equal to any time which is round figure.
i think the problem is in that only but not finding that .
can any one help me ... what i m missing..

There's your problem. You're loop is not giving control of the CPU back to the rest of the system. The startup code in a service is expected to launch a seperate thread to do its processing, not block itself in an endless loop.
You don't need to be checking the current time every couple of milliseconds. All you need to do is start a Threading.Timer that calls a function once a second. In that Timer Elapsed handler, you check for the current time, and if needed, do your processing, then reset the Timer. Using this method, your CPU usage should fall to just about 0.

Hi,
I tried to install visual studio tools for office now for about two hours and I have failed miserably.
What I did was
1 Installed visual studio 2005
2 Installed office (with the .Net things for word, excel, outlook etc.)
3 Installed vstor.exe
Now if I understand things correctly this is supposed to be enough. Also this would give me some office options under the new project tab in Visual studio but no. And when I tried to open a sample project visual studio was kind enough to inform me that it did not have all required components installed.
So does any one know what I need to do? A quick (and clear) response would be much appreciated since I’m about to run a screwdriver through my hard drive.

I suppose you use vb and not vb.net..
Start you vb IDE - Select ActiveX dll - Write down the functions, you want to expose. Function should be declared as Public if you need to make a call.
Select make projectname.dll from file menu.
How to register
regsvr32 "dllpath\dllname.dll"
How to unregister
regsvr32 "dllpath\dllname.dll" /u
You need to register in w2k or xp, if it is not machine where you have developed it.

Hi,
Is this possible for a listbox?
When the listitems of the listbox are selected and right-clicked, a context menu appears.
Then, when the user right clicks on the empty space inside the listbox, the context menu will not appear even though an item is still selected.
If possible, what listbox event is used?

Hi,
U need to create menu on the form and make it invisible. Then on Mouse Down event of listbox check the value of button.
in this way
Private Sub List1_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
If Button = vbPopupMenuRightButton Then
Me.PopupMenu Me.file, vbPopupMenuCenterAlign
End If
End Sub
