The only thing i didn't replace was the RAM. damn.. see what i do today. i'll surely burn it on fire. grrrrrrrr.. that took me almost a month to identify.. almost damaging my HDD and getting the blame on my innocent SMPS, MotherBoard and even Mouse( ).. i even thought the problem is with the PS2 connector with the board( i have a old 810 board)... hmm i hope this would be the judgement day. thanks again Marc.

This could also be a temperature problem. Check the fans and heat sinks in your machine.

Yup, all fans are running. and moreover, in 2 minutes how does it get that hot??

You would be surprised. The CPU fan on my box at home failed. Sitting idle, it would crash in 10-15 minutes. If I started a game, it would die a minute or two later.
You may also want to check the heat sink on your CPU and/or your graphics card. I had a retaining clip on a CPU heat sink come loose once that caused a problem. I think it happened when I plugged in a card.

hmm..i'll see to that. but you described it a "crash".. , but my case just restarts...

yeah sure. i'll check the CPU heat sink.. No graphics card with me. everything onboard but low end.

Sounds like overheating to me. Try this: Take the case off, get a little desk fan and point it at the motherboard (probably the CPU/RAM is the best place to aim). If the computer works ok, you need to improve the cooling in the case.

Try number 32 :

I'll do that .But do you think, the the fault can be with the SMPS-Motherboar power connection point. i tried changing the SMPS. but still the problem is there. but wait a minute. everything works fine in DOS. HOW??..as said by mark, i feel like turning the aim on RAM again. i'm waiting for a spare RAM from my friend. once i get it, i'll see it that's the point. or i'd move on to try number 33.

I've occasionally had to swap power Supplies out after 2-3 years due to weird drops in voltage (usually on the +12V rail). If you've swapped out everything but RAM and PSU you may want to get a tester (some of the simples ones run only 20-30 bucks)
Hope you can pin down the fail point.

If you think it's the ram, and it's happened to me too. Then try memtest86 at memtest86.com I like the ability to make a bootable cd myself from an iso. Anyway If you have 2 chips just pull one and test it, then try the other.
Make sure you put it into extended test mode since I had one that would only fail when I did that.
My experience with this type of problem has always been, RAM, Cooling, bad power supply, and once a bad CPU. Most of the time it's RAM and Cooling though.

your system might be infected with virus. try installing an antivirus program.

I have written a program using C++ in my personal computer. It is an image processing application which performs basic function like edge detection/ histogram equaliztion etc.
Now i would like to move it out of the PC into a stand alone h/w system where i feed the pixel values and i get the processed pixel values as output.
I understand that this area is known as Embedded Systems.
I have my PC, a few image processing algorithms and a book on emebdded systes design. What more (h/w and s/w) will i need to convert my PC based program to a stand alone system?
I am a novice when it comes to h/w , so please pardon incase me post sounds funny to anyone here

basically it will come down to your choice in embedded system. There are few standards in embedded systems. In fact you can even get a PC based embedded system, kiosk style or much smaller. Image collection will be even less uniform, we use one brand of capture boards which includes a image processing library (though we found that Intel's was faster).
In the end, "how" will come down to what hardware you choose for the embedded system.

Hi everybody,
I want to transfer files between 2 computers by the modems. I don't know if there's any library or API functions I can use. Help me if you have any idea. Thanks a lot.

I think Visual C is appropriate.

We have a project that uses a Sprint PCS Connection Card for Internet
communications. Currently the connection has to be made manually.
How do we automate this connection from code?
We are using C# .NET 2.0 for development.
Is there a Sprint developers forum?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
We have developed an application running on a Pocket PC for scoring certain characteristics of plants in trials in greenhouses. (High quality)Photos can be very helpful ´describing´ those plant characteristics. And so we would like to connect a 4-5+ mega pixel digital camera to a Pocket PC in some way and merge the trial-data collected with the (filenames of) photos taken.
Do you know of any solution to accomplish the above mentioned? Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
Jan.

Hi,
I need to develop a application that modifies fields of the Type 00 ( BIOS Information ) on DMI configuration. The development must be done using the language C and must run on MS-DOS platform.
Does exist some header for this?
Any help is welcome!
Grateful,

Hi!
I had download the source code of mass storage device driver for windows98 from Microsoft websit. And builded it with 98ddk on windows98 system, and then
installed it on win98 system. It can work correctly all the time.
If I suddenly remove the device from pc when copying file from pc to device or from device to pc on win98 system, the blue screen occur, and i have to restart my system.
But if do the same on win2000 or winxp there is no blue screen.
Now i wanna modify the driver source code to avoid the blue screen when suddently remove the device while it is exchanging data with pc on win98 system.
My question is:
1,If my hope has the possibility to come true?
2,If has, then which part of source code of this drive should i have to modify, and what couses the blue screen?
I know that in the source code it just abort all the pipes when device remove sudently but nothing else.
Thanks!

I believe Win98 cannot detect automatically when the device is removed the use has to tell it via the system tray.
Automatic detection was one of the additions to Win2k which is, of course, a different driver model.

If you want to find what part of your coder BSODed the PC, run a debug version, and after the crash, get the DMP file form the windows directory, and analyse it with DbgView.exe.
You need to set the paths of the source code files and the path to the pdb files.
