But you did show that code already, but that's not the collection you are adding the values to. I'm talking about the collection named List that you are using in the code.

recently i posted a question as follows
---------------------------------------
i am using toolbar component .net ver 2 (not toolstrip) in vb.net 2005.
if i give application.enablevisualstyle command to enable xp style interface
then icons on my toolbar will not come. if i disabel xp visual style it will
come? how can i show this toolbar in xp style settings?
pls help me....
This is the answer which i got
------------------------------
This is a bug in the .NET framework. You can work-around it by calling
Application.DoEvents() after EnableVisualStyles.
i tried this, but its not working,
after this also i can't see toolbar icons, i can see
only deviders, can u please explain me to solve this
problem...
with thanks

You should enable visual styles in a Main function, before your form gets loaded, then call DoEvents(). I recommend that you create a Main class and add the Main method there as shown below.
Public Class Main
Public Shared Sub Main(ByVal args() As String)
Application.EnableVisualStyles()
Application.DoEvents()
Application.Run(New MyForm)
End Sub
End Class
Next, you need to change your project setting's Startup Object to "Sub Main". You can find this option by right clicking your project in the solution explorer, click on Properties, select CommonProperties\General in the dialog's tree.

In order to debug an app (or run a debug version from inside Visual Studio), your acconut must either be a member of the local Adminstrators group or the Debugger Users group.
Right-click My Computer, click Manage, then open Local sers and Groups. I think you can figure it out from there.

Is there a way to do this using VB.net? Without going through ASP I would like to directly quarry the db from my form.
|
|
|
|
|
Yes. There is no difference in doing a query from a program.
Use OdbcConnection or OleDbConnection, depending on the type of connection you have.
(By the way, a quarry[^] is a hole in the ground... )

You can use MCI, it s very useful to do simple tasks like this.
I guess u can use the apis sndPlaySound or PlaySound too.
|
|
|
|

wat is MIC? sory i'm quick begining with vb.net,
even i search in the book none of it have talk about sound function...

Hi,
I'm designing a framework for an enterprise application.
I have done this earlier but I used to define model (properties, methods, events…) inside framework itself.
Programmer writes codes based on the model defined in framework, in other words interface that is created inside framework later implemented by the programmer.
Now I would like to isolate model definition from framework and define the model in a separate XML file so that framework will extract model definition from XML file dynamically.
How do I achieve this ?
Advance Thanks !
Regards,
aB.

well... i think this can be done using codeDOM.

Here There is a nice wPaper on "Interface Creation and Deployment at Runtime".
please share your experience on codeDOM.

Hi, I have a 5.1 soundcard and im trying to play 5 different sounds (5 different wav files) at the same time, one per each speaker.
Ive checked out some tools which came with the soundcard software and ive seen they could play a sound through any speaker, so i should be able to do it too, but im not achieving it.
Ive tried using MCI, low level apis and a dll ive found on the Internet, but everytime i play a mono sound it is heard on the two front and the two back speakers. Im doing this in VB.Net, but clues in other codes are welcomed.
A note, with MCI, sending:
set id output 0, the sound file was played on the 4 speakers,
set id output 1, no sound was heard,
set id output 2, i got an error,
status id output, i got "mapper" (i thought the argument must have been an integer)
Isnt this the command which I should modify to do what I want?
Do you have any idea about what I should do? Any examples?
Thanks

I am trying to separate my data access code from my form code. I have a created a data access class containing a function to accept an EmployeeID and return a dataset containing just information for that employee. When I try to display the employee information on the form I am getting the column name rather than the value contained in the column. What am I doing wrong?
Form Code
Private Sub frmMaint_Load(ByVal sender As Object, _<br />
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load<br />
<br />
Try<br />
dsSpcInstrFRM = m_DAL.SpecialInstructions(strEmpIdFromChooseFrm)<br />
dtSpcInstrFRM = dsSpcInstrFRM.Tables("SpcInstructions")<br />
lblSpcInstructions.Text = dtSpcInstrFRM.Columns("SpcInstr").ToString<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
‘Error Routine<br />
End Try<br />
<br />
End Sub
Data Access Code
Friend Function SpecialInstructions(ByVal m_strEmpID As String) As Dataset<br />
<br />
Dim sqlRiskDR As SqlDataReader<br />
Dim SpecialInstructionsDS As New DataSet<br />
Dim SpcInstrDT As New DataTable<br />
Dim SpcInstrDR As DataRow<br />
<br />
Try<br />
sqlRiskCN = New SqlConnection(My.Settings.SQLRiskCNString)<br />
sqlRiskCN.Open()<br />
<br />
'Use Stored Procedure<br />
strSql = "GetSpecialInstructions " & "'" & m_strEmpID & " '"<br />
<br />
sqlCM = New SqlCommand(strSql, sqlRiskCN)<br />
sqlRiskDR = sqlCM.ExecuteReader()<br />
<br />
SpecialInstructionsDS.DataSetName = "SpecialInstructions"<br />
SpecialInstructionsDS.Tables.Add(SpcInstrDT)<br />
SpcInstrDT.TableName = "SpcInstructions"<br />
<br />
SpcInstrDT.Columns.Add("EmpID").Unique = False<br />
SpcInstrDT.Columns.Add("SpcInstr")<br />
<br />
Do While sqlRiskDR.Read()<br />
SpcInstrDR = SpcInstrDT.NewRow<br />
SpcInstrDR.Item("EmpID") = sqlRiskDR.Item("EmpID").ToString<br />
SpcInstrDR.Item("SpcInstr") = sqlRiskDR.Item("EmergInstructions").ToString.TrimEnd<br />
<br />
SpcInstrDT.Rows.Add(SpcInstrDR)<br />
Loop<br />
<br />
sqlRiskDR.Close()<br />
sqlRiskCN.Close()<br />
<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
‘Error Routine<br />
End Try<br />
<br />
Return SpecialInstructionsDS<br />
<br />
End Function

Because you are reading the value from the column information in the data set, not from the data rows. Use the Rows property.

b { font-weight: normal; }

Using the rows property makes sense, but now it brings up the question of how I actually retrieve the data from the dataset. As you can probably tell I am new at this. What code do I need to add to my form to get this to work?
Thanks!

Using item still places SpcInstr in the text of the label. I am trying to get the value from the column named "SpcInstr". Any other suggestions?

Add a reference to the dll. In the solution explorer drag that to your toolbox.

I am having a problem with a user control that I created for a windows form using VB.NET. The problem is that when I click the tab key or minimized the form, the control moves to the right side of the form. I really appreciate if anyone gives me any suggestion to stop moving that control from clicking tab key or minimize the form.
Thanx in advance.

This control should only move if you have code to move it. Do you have something setup to change the layout of your controls?? I would also check the designer generated code that creates the controls for you to see if there is anything in there that setups up the wrong docking and anchor properties.
If you have any control containers on your form, make sure that the control that is moving is a member of the correct container.
