Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to generate a letter automatically in ASP.Net? I need to fill in the date and employee name for each letter that is generated. The content of the letter will be the same for all employees. The letter template is a word document.
thanks in advance,
Krish

If your users have Word2003, you can use native Word XML.
In Word, save your template in xml with the name template.aspx. Add the file to the project, scriplet-it so that fields became value expressions (something like <%=emplName%>).
Set content type to "application/msword" and the content-disposition to "attachment; filename='letter.doc'"
hope this helps

The text of the letter contained some parameters coming from the screen and others coming from the database.
How do I pass all the parameters to the template? Can you suggest some websites links as am new to xml and scripting.
thanks in advance
Krish

I have written a client side script favoring phonetic typing in devanagari script. find same at:
http://www30.websamba.com/omkarjoshi
You need to have a unicode support font like mangal, which is available on the net as free downlods to view the unicode context.
It works fine with IE but with firefox I cant modify a keycode of the event.
Javascript console gives error at following code in firefox:
evtobj.keyCode = substitute_marathi(evtobj.keyCode)
error is:
Error: setting a property that has only a getter
Source File: <file>
Line: 732
How can I modify a keycode in case of firefox?

Omkar

I don't think you can, but you can create a custom key event and send that:
var newEvtObj = document.createEvent('KeyEvents');
newEvtObj.initKeyEvent( 'keyup', true, true, window, false, false, false, false, substitute_marathi(evtobj.keyCode), 0 );
textArea.dispatchEvent(newEvtObj);
You'll need to make sure you don't capture and re-send your custom event, of course.

document.createEvent is not supported in my browser
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7)
Error: document.CreateEvent is not a function
Source File: file:index.html
Line: 736
I hope this should have worked, what is the issue then? I did find same type of codes on net but cantr figure out why its not working
Should I add eventListener prior to this so that It will recognize the createEvent function?

It's not a function, is a method of the string class.
caps = str.toUpperCase()
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
this method will make the whole sentence to uppercase.
what i want it to make the first letter in each word uppercase?

Well, you did actually ask for a function that would "make each character in each word in the sentence capital letter".
Make a regular expression that mathes the first character, and do a replace using a function that will turn the character to uppercase.
This might work:
str = str.replace(/\b[a-z]/, string.toUpperCase)
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

Aren't the words "function" and "method" synonyms?

No, not exactly.
A method can be a function, e.g. returning a value. I doesn't have to. (But that also depends on the meaning of "function". In Javascript a subroutine that doesn't return anyting is also a function.)
A function that is a member of a class is a method.

b { font-weight: normal; }

You can use query string to pass the textbox's value to another web page....

For those few people that don't speak spanish:
"Creation of Systems Oriented to the Web with PHP5" or more like "Creation of web-oriented systems with PHP5"
But, what about it?

Hi
I am trying to desing the webpage layout.
----------
In .html page:
----------
In .CSS file
INPUT:text
{
font-weight: normal;
color: Navy;
}
INPUT:button
{
font-weight: bold;
color: BLACK;
}
----------
Since there are different INPUT elements, I want to control CSS styles through different classes (of same element but different types) from external stylesheet.
How can I do this? Please advice.
Thanks
Pankaj
