Set wWinMainCRTStartup as the applications entry point
Steps in VS 6 to set the enrty point
project->Settings->Link
in the category combo box select output.
then in the Entry point edit box enter wWinMainCRTStartup
i don't know if this is same for VC7

Change the subsystem to WINDOWS.
This is how we change it...

------SubSystem -->Change this to Windows (/SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS)

Can you modify WinMain to _tWinMain

This happens because of UNICODE compilation...

Did you make sure you included the appropriate files into your solution? You can get linker errors if you happen to forget to include the appropriate files (to your solution,) or if you forget to add the appropriate libraries to the properties tab in your project. Make sure those are correct since that has caused me some time in debugging.

hi all
i m using visual studio.net for mfc applications. i had inserted the activex conroll named microst forms label 2.0. when i run the application it is not visible. i checked its visible and enable properties which r true.
i tried to insert other controlls those are visible but this particular activex controll is not visible it gives no error.

do you create it dynamically (at runtime) or with the resource dialog designer (placing custom control) ?
if doing at runtime, have you correctly called .Create() ?

Is this a dialog based application? verify that you have called AfxEnableControlContainer() in your application's InitInastance Method
see this article in MSDN "ActiveX Control Containers: Manually Enabling ActiveX Control Containment"
dont forget to include "#include <Afxdisp.h>"

that is called in the initinstace method. when i used other controll they aer display but specifimc microsft form control 2.0 is not displayed.

dear all,
as title, I tried to extract(get) icon from Dll or exe or ico,
then I put then on the window by DrawIco. It looked great.
but when I saved it to a icon file(c:\temp\xxx.ico).
It looked very worse --> blurred and ugly.
Experts, please help me , thank you very much.

I can't thank you enough. I had used SHGetFileInfo before, but I didn't try more... . Now I know the structure of Icon by your first response and how to use windows API to get more informations from a file by this response.
