Does anybody have any clue as to why is this so?

Hi Pals
I am working on vb.net 2005 windows forms project. In this I have placed "Windows Media Player" control n docked it to full and the next thing I did that I have placed a picture box control over that control n then issued a picture that is transparent but it didnt work as picture had the effect of blur n is not stable.
So next i made a new form n made it transparent with no border style n top most n then placed a picturebox control n docked it full n set its background color to the transparent color of the form. well it worked better than the prvs but still it is not stable n blurring.
I am using transparent PNG or GIF image file formats.
Please anyone help me in this regard.
thanks in advance.

You can't. The Media Player doesn't work with "overlays" like the one you'r trying to build. It'll play on top of everything you put over it on the same form. Why???
Basically, the video in the MediaPlayer is drawn and redrawn continuously, whereas your "overlay" is drawn only once. Your overlay will get overdrawn by the video by nearly every frame of video that the player shows.
There is no event to catch between video frames, so there's no way for you to tell when a frame of video is drawn so you can redraw your overlay. There are other reasons why this won't work, but this one is sufficient.
The only way to put in an overlay is to inject a custom filter into the video filter graph. The rub is that you can't use Media Player to show your video when building a custom graph. You have to show the video yourself using DirectShow in the DirectX SDK. Warning! Not for the faint of heart!
Basically, what your filter would be doing is generating a "live" uncompressed video feed that shows a static image of whatever you want to overlay ontop of the playing video.
No, I don't have any examples! I haven't touched DirectX development in quite a long time...

You'll need some utility to do this for you. There is nothing that comes standard with Windows to export a single value from the registry from the command line.
What does this have to do with VB???

Hi,
I added four buttons named first previous last next.
I am designing a simple data entry form using SqlConnection,
SqlDataReader programically. Can somebody send me code or any link.
|
|
|
|
|
take ptr as integer
now increment the pointer and decrement wherever necesary
for ex: you want to use next button
now write the code as ptr=ptr+1
ds.tables(0).rows(0)(ptr)
vijay kumar.n.s
|
|
|
|
|
for connectivity
take dataadapter ,write the query and then fill the database
ex:
dim cn as new sqlconnection(user id=" ";password=;database=pubs")
cn.open
da=new sqldataadapter("select * from tablename",cn)
da.fill(ds,"tablename")

control array were present vb 6. how can they be used in vb.NET 2005.
they were very useful in vb 6.
e.g.
dim rs as recordset
...
dim i as integer
for i=0 to rs.recordcount-1
textbox(i).text=rs(i)
next
how can the above mentioned code can be manipulated in VB.NET. e.g. to display the values in the dataset.

You can create an array of controls - In fact there is already a collection of controls on the form called Controls
You can set up your own array of text boxes. For example:
Dim myTextBoxes As ArrayList
myTextBoxes = New ArrayList()
myTextBoxes.Add(someTextBox)
myTextBoxes.Add(someOtherTextBox)
' and so on You can then iterate over the array to get the textboxes.

I have created a window service and in the solution i have created a config file. Now i am accessing some values from the config file in the service.
when i run the service through installutil i am not able to access config file values.
Is there any way i can run service in debug mode or can access config file.
Where will the config file be placed when i install the service on a system.
|
|
|
|

Make sure that the config file is in the same directory as your service .EXE. Also, make sure that the name is the same as your service .EXE name with a ".config" ending. For example, if your service filename is MyService.EXE , your config file must have the name MyService.EXE.config and reside in the same directory.

I have attached the debugger to the window service and ran in debug mode.
It is still not picking any thing from the app config file. File is named like as you said but still it is not picking any value from the config file.
I haven't install the service with window installer, but instead used installutil.exe.
So i assume that config file should be in bin folder of the service.

Like I said, the config file MUST reside in the same folder as the .EXE you InstallUtil'd.

Thanks,
file is in the same folder as the exe is but still it is not reading the values.

Without seeing your code and what's in the config file, it's pretty difficult to go any further with this.
