Recently I have started development in ASP.
IIS 5.1 is installed on my PC.
I use Microsoft Internet development environment, which is part of
Visual Studio 6.0 .
The problem is the Server object does not have 'Transfer' and 'Execute'
methods.(Server.Transfer and Server.Execute). The Server object does have
Redirect method(Server.Redirect).
So how to go about it.
I think these methods are implemented in ASP 3.0, is it right?
How to check which version of asp is running?
If my ASP version is lower one, then how to upgrade to higher one?
Regards,
Amol

Why do you think that?
The Server object does have
Redirect method
No, it doesn't. It never had, and it never will. Use Response.Redirect.

No, it was implemented in either IIS 5.0 or 5.1, but I can't recall exactly at the moment.
You have VBScript version 5.1 (or possibly 5.5 or 5.6). You can use ScriptEngineMajorVersion and ScriptEngineMinorVersion to verify this. It's irrelevant for your question, though. Your server has all the methods that you are talking about. If you need help on how to use them, show what you did when you failed to.

Yeas correct, I made a mistake.
Server object do not possess Redirect method.
But Server object should have have 'Transfer' and 'execute' method.
But when type Server and then hit dot(.), properties & methods are
shown (which is known as Intellisence).
In this 'Transfer' & 'Execute' does not get listed.
I need this methods instead of responce.redirect as server.execute and
Server.Transfer have more control over hoe you redirect.
Every thing will come to you if you have faith.

Visual Studio 6 might be too old to know about the methods, but you can use them anyway.

more likely intellisense has got its knickers in a twist....
Just cos it's not shown, doesn't mean it's not there - you have tried calling the function haven't you?
This is why I hate intellisense from a learning perspective....

I want to have some exception message strings as string resources in a resource file, in order to be able to pass the exception with the exception message in the correct language.
I am working with VS2005 - C#, and I was able to place a resource file in the App_GlobalResources folder. How can I read these resources?
Does anybody know any tips?
Thanks in advance

Hello!
I have a listbox I fill with data using a javascript (thanks to this board). When the user clicks a WebControls.Button I want to get hold of these values. I had something like this in mind:
ArrayList alValues = new ArrayList();<br />
<br />
foreach(ListItem li in lbListBox.Items)<br />
{<br />
alValues.Add(li.Value.ToString());<br />
}
But when postback occurs the listbox is emptied again and ListBox.Items.Count is 0.
How do I achieve this?

|
|
|

You could try hooking the Button's event handler to a javascript function, instead of a codebehind (server) function. This would mean that the page wouldn't post back at all......

Hello,
Can javascript detect where the mouse pointer is within an asp.net listbox?
For example, can it detect if the mouse is pointing at a listitem and not at the empty space within the listbox?

I'm old and.. What ya expect from me! 14:53 20 Mar '06
First a bit about me..
I'm in the USA (I say that because folks seem to hate us) a nobody, and really old.. My first project was writing some code for a Intel 2004.. Late 1960? I forget.
I download ALOT of your posts I find in here.. I never do anything with them but look/run it if I can.. I just gasp in amazement on what you guys/gals do.. You are SMART!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I have a real question (Well to me it is real).. I have a web cam and I made a little html page to download images at different time intervals. Just HTML and Javascript. I want to save them to my local hard drive.. I KNOW/think I am not allowed to do that BUT there must be some way!
YOU CAN DO IT!
NO! I DO NOT want to rip off sombody elses hard work out on the web.. Just for use on my local home network (I do not want to use SQL or other database) Just to a folder on my hard drive (shared) that I can access remotely or at home.. Does this make and sense?
If it matters.. Just a JUNK D-LINK DCS-900W that has it's own server..(works but BAD pictures..... Sort of like my old eyes.. both together makes the PIC really bad!)... I can get the image (JPG). I am just not smart enough to save them someplace! I was trying to automate the Microsoft IE image toolbar that pops up over a image.. Yes I can do it manually (but what if i'm not there?) I gave up trying!.. Yes' I know.. everybody knocks IE as trash.. Well does what I want! and never had any problems YET!
All I have to work with is Microsoft C++ 6 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2002?
I just LOVE C#.. Basic... what is that?
I have a C# program I'd post as a good laugh for everybody.. But I don't know how.. Just something I did for a college class.. The instructor gave me a 'A' and NEVER looked at my code! Just the output... LOL..
Well, thanks for listening! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
As I would say.. Just me... will_george@sbcglobal.net.. Yes it is a real address. I have nothing to hide.. By the time I get it right I'll be dead!

I read your message and had a bonding moment! I wrote my first program in FORTRAN in 1968 using a key punch. So, I may be around your age. However, I kept up with the technology over the years and I have created several Windows and Web applications in C++/CLI and C#.
Unfortunately, I have not used a web camera before and cannot help you with your problem. However, web browsers usually cache images on your local computer. If you right-click on your Internet Explorer Icon on the desktop and choose properties on the menu. Click on the "General" tab and click on the "Settings..." button. When the "Settings" windos appears, click on the "View Files..." button. You can sort the images my url.
