Thanx for the answer but I don't want to use an AcitveX control on the page.

It's not an ActiveX control, it's just an ActiceX object.
However, that method doesn't work at all. There is no way that you can get any information at all about the client file system using Javascript.
The only way to get access to that information would be to use a component on the page, like an ActiveX control or a Java applet.

Hey All,
I've run it to some problems developing a web service server application in C#. Essentially, everything is fine and runs smoothly, except that when my clients attempt to call several web services at once (which they do, on seperate threads), it appears that IIS is blocking some of them. When running against the Cassini type personal web server in .NET 2.0, there is no problem.
The blocking appears to be on a per client basis. I've adjusted the system.net/ connectionManagement section in my web.config and machine.config, but to no avail, so it doesn't appear to be the 2 connection limit imposed by HTTP 1.1.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Rob Philpott.

hi all,
this is my first question to this site.
I'm building web applications in asp.net, where i am also entitled to design the pages using User Controls. I have no idea where to start with in html as i am unaware of it, but can understand if anyone could help me with the tables, tr, td, border, nesting tables, assigning heights, widths, styles.., preventing scrollbars in the web page, and the likes of it..
I'd be greatly relieved first and then thankful, if anyone of you could help me out .

Hi!
I have a problem with an embedded flash object.
The thing is that I never want the object to be less then 750x850 pixles.
When the broswer window is less then that I want the scrollbars to be shown on the broswer. Otherwise it should stretch to the window size.
So after resize I check the width of the page and then I do the following...
var bookReader = document.getElementById('bookReader');
if (bookReader == null)
return 0;
//If the width is less then 750 or the height is less then 850 we need scrollbars
if (width < 750 || height < 850) {
bookReader.width = 750;
bookReader.height = 850;
} else {
bookReader.style.width = width;
bookReader.style.height = height;
}
This works perfectly in IE but in Firefox the size of the object is it's initial size (750x850)
Any suggestions?

Solved it.
Placed a DIV around it.
Like this,
Then it contained the object and the object size was set to 100%.
Then I resized the DIV and then it worked in Firefox as well...
Cheers!

I'm trying to fire off a JavaScript but I'm having a problem. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish.
I created an HTML file on the server with a Web Application, I want to open that HTML file in another window which is the receipt.
What I did was created a hidden field on the Web Page and then when I want to call the script, I populate the hidden field with the name of the file containing the receipt. Then in JavaScript I trigger with "onchange", yet it never gets there. Maybe it only will trigger when a user enters something instead of programatically, I don't know.
Here's the JavaScript and the asp entry:
<br />
<!--<br />
function PrintReceipt( )<br />
{<br />
var ReceiptName="";<br />
var URL="";<br />
<br />
ReceiptName = document.Form1.efReceiptName.value;<br />
document.Form1.efResponse.value = "Hey we are here!"<br />
<br />
if (ReceiptName.substring(ReceiptName.length-5, 5) == ".html")<br />
{<br />
URL = location.hostname + ReceiptName;<br />
window.open(URL);<br />
}<br />
<br />
return;<br />
}<br />
The the ASP stuff:
textbox id="efReceiptName" style="DISPLAY: none; Z-INDEX: 116; LEFT: 8px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 8px" runat="server" Width="105px" onchange="PrintReceipt( );">
Note, I removed the <.asp and </asp" so it posts properly..
I don't receive the "We are here" message or the popup window.
Thank you
Glenn

Of course not. You are just putting the text in the form field, but you are not posting the form.
gmhanna wrote: or the popup window
Of course not. You are just opening the page. You haven't specified any target for it, so it will open in the same window. Use _blank as target to open in a new window:
window.open(URL, '_blank');

Hi - I have a file that I wrote out in HTML that is stored on the server and I would like to open that file with a browser from C# from the client side. I know I could do a Response.Redirect but I want to open it in a different window. Any idea how this is done?
Thank you,
Glenn

You can't do that using C#, as the C# code is run on the server, not in the browser.
You have to use Javascript to open a window in the browser.
