I have an interface problem, trying to write a program in C#, which I'd really appreciate some help on. It's an SDI app, and I want basically to switch the main form to a different one. So to start with there's one form, but on editing one of the entries I want to switch to a different one, so I can lay out a different set of controls on the other form. I'm not sure how to do this in C#? I hope you can understand what I'm trying to do, and I'd appreciate any advice!
Thanks,
Mark

Hi.
I don´t know if I have understood you correctly but here is an idea, I hope you can use it.
You create another form, From f1 = new Form();
and then call the show method: f1.Show();
You can of course add the controls you like to that new form and set it´s size just like on any other form.
Hope this helps,
F

Thanks for your reply. The problem with that is it will open a new form, what I want to do is replace the existing form with the new one. I don't know how to do it in an SDI app, in an MDI app you can open a new child form, the problem is the user can restore the forms and switch between them, I want it to appear as an SDI app.

Hi.
Perhaps you can set your existing controls (textboxes, radiobuttons etc) to disappear, you can set their property. For instance, if have a TextBox on your form, txtbox2, you can:
txtbox2.Visible = false;
and it will then not be seen by the user. That way you can make some or all of the controls disappear and then create new ones if need be.
I don´t know if I fully understand your problem but I hope this helps.

Hi there.
I was wondering about how do I populate a TreeView in windows forms. I would like to get a list of drives and folders on the users computer. I couldn´t find anything so I am turning to the codeproject forums for some help.
Any pointers and help is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
FJ

There are several articles here on code project that basically use a TreeView to simulate the folders view in Windows Explorer. I suggest starting there.

What is it that you want to save? Where do you get the data from? In what form?

Probably at the exact same place...

b { font-weight: normal; }

thank you for your reply!
sorry! i'm just kidding! (where do i begin....<= "Love Story")
I mean that:
-you can save anything from your floopy, usb, or other devices to current harddisk.
-but, you can't not save files which have extensions of files type look like
*.mp3, *.exe, *.bat...etc.
Of course! i'm using Windows
Thank you in advance!

Do you mean copying files? What is keeping you from copying certain files, then?

b { font-weight: normal; }

You can use a SaveFileDialog

Isn't there a special status bar panel for this?

Hi,
I have a dataset which fills my datagrid.
this.oracleDataAdapter1.Fill(this.DataSet1);
this.DataGrid1.DataBind();
Now I want to set up couple of Filter options.
Since I already have all the data I don't want to send another sql to database.
How do I send Sql to data set and recreate the same datagrod with filtered data?
Thanks

Hi,
Create a DataVeiw with the filtered data from a DataSet and bind the same to the DataGrid.
Hope this will help you.

OK, my problem is I am using an unmanaged function similiar to the printf function, in that you can pass a variable number of arguments of any type.
If I knew the number of objects I am getting I can simply call the function like
//3 items :
print("%s%d%f", obj1, obj2, obj3);
If I don't know the number of objects I am getting how can I convert them/add them to the argument list ? - printf(format, objects ??)
If I just pass an array the unmanaged function doesn't work. Its like the unmanaged code should be getting several arguments but I imagine its only getting the one, a pointer to my managed array ?
So basically I don't want to pass one argument(which is an array). I want to send the elements of my array as seperate arguments mimicing passing several arguments.

Define the amount of parameters you need in the DllImport definition.
|
|
|
|
|
The C++ definition is say
printf(const char* format, ...)
My DLLImport is
[DllImport("xxx.dll", EntryPoint = "printf")]<br />
public static extern bool Print(String format, __arglist )
In my C# function I am getting an array of objects of varying lengths.
void func(Object[] objArr)<br />
{<br />
String format = "%s%d%lf"; etc....<br />
..<br />
<br />
Print(format, ??!?!? );<br />
}

Hi,
Is there a way of locking a forms position (i.e., without removing its border, which makes it look bad!)?
Thanks.

Yes. Override your form's WndProc() method and handle the WM_MOVING [^] message. Specifically, return the form's current pos and size to Windows. This will cause the form to be immovable.

Hello,
I wan't to duplicate a toolstripmenuitem. The problem is that I don't have found a solution to duplicate an event. All other properties which I need I can access. I want to duplicate the event, because in that part of the code I don't know which eventhander is registerd.
Is there any way to do that?

I need to create a window like mIRC's status window, in which can display text (with fonts and colors) as well as when you select the text, it automaticly copies it to the clipboard but does not stay selected.
I need to do this in win forms. I would also like to extend it to display images... i know his is a custom drawn window... how could i do this same thing in winforms? any ideas?
|
|

One way that you could do this is to set up the status window as a panel and create your own Paint events. You would then use the graphics object for the control to do the drawing you need done. Changing font characteristics and doing g.DrawString will handle the multi-colored text. g.DrawImage would handle graphics at some point. The last piece would be more difficult with a panel, but there is probably a windows API you could hook into for that.
