Hi
I accesed Microsoft word 2003 on my website by add reference. I want to let my user to create word document in word 2003 while using website. I want to restrict my user to dont save the word document in his/her local machine . I want to save this file just in the sql server database table while using word 2003 on website.
using BLOB for saving word document into table of sql server without using word 2003 is not a problem. but how I can redirect the document towards table of sql server , when my user save the word 2003 document via save or save as dialog. by using vb.net in web application how I can control this issue.
can you please help me in this issue by any code or link
Thanks

You can't restrict the user that way, and I'm not sure you want to.
The only way I can think of for the user to send your server a Word file through an ASP.NET application would be through a file upload control, which would necessitate the user saving the file on his/her machine first, then browsing for it in the file upload control.
I would think another approach would be to have a special Word 2003 toolbar installed for your users that would have a "save to server" button which could (perhaps? I've never tried this, so I'm guessing here) use VBA code to send the current document to your server...

Hi,
does anyone know of any efficient way of catching the differences between two DataTables containing the same structure? What im trying to do is basically update my db table with any new, updated, deleted records from another DataTable. Is there any kind of function in the DataSet object that helps accomplish such a task?

But it's simple without even writing a line of code .
Another option to implement the download functionality is to use the Content-Disposition[^] header field.

|
|
|
|
//to get the selected file name
string filename,MyPath;
MyPath = Server.MapPath("./doc/");
filename = txtFile.PostedFile.FileName;
string strFileName,strWO;
strFileName = txtFile.PostedFile.FileName;
string c = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(strFileName); // only the attched file name not its path
strWO = System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(strFileName);
//to save the file in the directory folder
txtFile.PostedFile.SaveAs(MyPath + c);
string strStoredPath=MyPath + c;

U can use regular expression control as regular expression control simply checks their characters to match the patttern you choose.
|
|
|
|
|
var today,visitedDate;
today = new Date()
visitedDate=document.frmAddPatient.txtDate.value;
if(!comparedates(visitedDate,today))
{
alert("Visited date cannot be greater than today");
return false;
}
function comparedates(dt1,dt2)
{
var date1,date2
date1 = new Date(dt1);
date2 = new Date(dt2);
if(date1 <= date2) return true;
else return false;
}

You can use the CompareValidator to validate a date-type value, you can see an old post[^] for more information.
|
|
|
|
|
it is quiet difficult to validate a date in aspx page. one method to validate date is
get the value of textbox and spit each value with '/' character then compare the 3 values. but if u are using any globalization it this validation will not work correctly,.
that is the date format for different countries are different and separation character also differ.
so if u r using any globalization, then get the currentculture first, decide the separator and then split, then compare.
for checking the date format u can use regular expression validator.

Check out this solution:
http://forums.asp.net/390809/ShowPost.aspx[^]
Here is the C# Equivalent (with some added stuff I did to help those with possible questions):
private void DataGrid1_PreRender(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
//This MUST be done in the Pre-Render function. Otherwise will have errors if running this code outside of the PreRender function.
DataGridItem dgItem = new DataGridItem(0,0,ListItemType.Header);
TableCell myCell = new TableCell();
myCell.ColumnSpan = 2; //This Merges Cells together.
myCell.Text = "Test";
myCell.BackColor = Color.Lavender; //Change the back color of a single cell.
myCell.VerticalAlign = VerticalAlign.Middle;//This Centers the text vertically for a single cell.
dgItem.Cells.Add(myCell);
dgItem.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Center;//This centers the text for the entire dgItem (which in this case is the additional header we just added).
DataGrid1.Columns[1].HeaderStyle.BackColor = Color.LemonChiffon;//This changes the color for an entire column, not needed, but is neat to see if you were thinking about doing something like this in the future - now you know how to.
DataGrid1.Controls[0].Controls.AddAt(0, dgItem); //Change the integer in the AddAt() function to insert the header somewhere else in the datagrid (like 1 for below the original header, or 5 if for some inexplicable reason you want two totally separated headers with rows of data in between them.
}
Hope you guys liked it! Big Thanks to Jim Ross and his post at forums.ASP.Net website and his source who gave him the original VB code: Anand Hegde (MSFT).
