I m using untyped dataset in asp.net using C#.
I want to update the record only in a dataset. The code is given below(this code is also given in MSDN).....
ds.Tables[0].Rows[0].ItemArray[1] = "New value";
Interestingly it doesnot throw exception and at the same time does not update the record....
what could be the reason...................
Do good and have good.

What steps do you take after this? In what way does it not update the record (to the DB, or to screen...?)
|
|
|
|
|
I just want to assign dataset to a datagrid after updating some values in the dataset only not in Database.
Do good and have good.
|
|
|
|
|
Things to check:
1. (apologies if this insults your intelligence) Are you rebinding the datagrid after setting the updated dataset as the source?
2. Have you got the current view of the dataset as unchanged rows?

You can not call a JS function from the server directly. You have to put a call to a JS function somewhere in the markup.

Like CWIZO said you need it in the html.
You can do this in a few ways:
1) RegisterClientScriptBlock
2) RegisterStartupScript
3) put a literal control on your page and set it's text property to your javascript code...
Examples of all three in vb.net (sorry don't have c# at work)
Dim myScript As String = "" + vbCrLf _
+ "alert(""Hello World!"");" + vbCrLf _
+ ""
Literal1.Text = myScript
Page.RegisterClientScriptBlock("myScript", myScript)
Page.RegisterStartupScript("myScript", myScript)

HOw can i add Header and footer?
Hi i am using javascript code to print a datagrid in my page..is there a way to add header and footer in the document like a title on the header and page number in the footer?
this is the function am calling t print:
// quick browser tests
var ns4 = (document.layers) ? true : false;
var ie4 = (document.all && !document.getElementById) ? true : false;
var ie5 = (document.all && document.getElementById) ? true : false;
var ns6 = (!document.all && document.getElementById) ? true : false;
function show(sw,obj) {
// show/hide the divisions
if (sw && (ie4 || ie5) ) document.all[obj].style.visibility = 'visible';
if (!sw && (ie4 || ie5) ) document.all[obj].style.visibility = 'hidden';
if (sw && ns4) document.layers[obj].visibility = 'visible';
if (!sw && ns4) document.layers[obj].visibility = 'hidden';
}
// End -->
//Print datagrid only function (print button 1)
function CallPrint(strid)
{
show(false,'srcPnl');
var prtContent = document.getElementById(strid);
var WinPrint =
window.open('','','letf=0,top=0,width=1,height=1,toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,status=0');
WinPrint.document.write(prtContent.innerHTML);
WinPrint.document.close();
WinPrint.focus();
WinPrint.print();
show(true,'srcPnl');
WinPrint.close();
}
|
|
|
|
|
Not sure this is what you are going for but if you can do this:
WinPrint.document.write(prtContent.innerHTML);
why not do something like this:
WinPrint.document.write(YourHeaderHTML);
WinPrint.document.write(prtContent.innerHTML);
WinPrint.document.write(YourFooterHTML);

Hi,
I have developed a web application and have set session timeout to 20 min.
Now here is the problem, I open a web page and does not take any action on it for about 1 hr.After 1 hr I take a action on that page and application handles it.I face this problem for few pages in application. I am not able to get why this problem occurs.
Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
You also set the property in global.asax.cs file
void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Session.Timeout = 20;
}
bye..
|
|
|
|
|
It is likely that a new session is being created when you hit the page after the 20min time out and its being posted back.
Place this at the top of your Load.Page or place other code in your Global.aspx Session Start. Note: Session End will not effect client page view.
if (Session.IsNewSession)
{
// New Session
// Take your pick
Server.Transfer("Default.aspx");
Response.Redirect("Default.aspx");
}
Look where you want to go not where you don't want to crash.

You cannot open a windows application on the users machine from a webpage. You can give the user the optin to download your program, and it is then in their control as to whether to execute it.
