Hi Gupta,
So when u try vs.net 2003 with framework 2.0, can it still work smoothly and utilize the new features of version 2.0?
Is it just a matter of removing version 1.1 and installing version 2.0 in its place?
Because from almost all the replies, vs.net 2003 is unable to target .net framework 2.0

1) store the numbers 4, 10 & 8 in an array or list
2) get a random number in the range 0 - 2 (myRandom.Next(0,2) )
3) retrieve that index from the original array

Just add FOR XML AUTO to the query.

That depends on what you want to use it for.

Yes, look into Office web component library (normally refered as OWC11) using this u can create charts and then convert them into jpeg. these charts are similar to Excel charts you can also make them interactive but I have not explored them in that depth.

There's nothing built in, you'll need to get the factors and write the code yourself.

Hi All,
My problem is something like this,
I have a datalist where i want to add a dynamic datagrid. to better understand my problem please see the code below.
in vb file
-----------------
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
dlScHead.DataSource = GetRecords(Nothing)
dlScHead.DataBind()
End Sub
Function GetRecords(ByVal scID As String) As SqlDataReader
Dim bizProgName As String = Request.QueryString("bizProgId")
Dim CommandText As String
Try
objConn = New SqlConnection(dbPath)
objConn.Open()
If scID = Nothing Then
Dim da As New SqlDataAdapter
da.SelectCommand = New SqlCommand
da.SelectCommand.Connection = objConn
da.SelectCommand.CommandText = "select scorecardId,bizProgId,scorecarddesc,businessgoal,strategy,quarter1,quarter2,quarter3,quarter4 from textData where bizProgID='" & Request.QueryString("bizProgId") & "'"
dr = da.SelectCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection)
If dr.HasRows Then
'lblError.Text = ""
Else
'lblError.Text = "No records returned"
End If
GetRecords = dr
Else
cmd = New SqlCommand("select distinct measure_id from measuredata where scoreCardId = '" & scID & "'", objConn)
Dim da As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter(cmd)
Dim dtId As New DataTable("MeasureId")
da.Fill(dtId)
'select all columns with ID
Dim cmd1 As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand("select * from measureData where scoreCardId = '" & scID & "'", objConn)
Dim da1 As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter(cmd1)
Dim dt As New DataTable("MeasureSource")
da1.Fill(dt)
Dim datarow As DataRow
For Each datarow In dtId.Rows
Dim chart As DataGrid
Dim myView As New DataView(dt)
' Dim chart As New Mycos.MycosChartWeb
myView.RowFilter = String.Format("Measure_Id='{0}'", datarow.Item("measure_Id"))
chart.DataSource = myView
Chart.DataBind()
Dim i As Integer
For i = 0 To dlScChart.Items.Count - 1
dlScChart.Items(i).FindControl("Placeholder1").Controls.Add(chart)
Next
Next datarow
'GetRecords = PlaceHolder1.FindControl("Placeholder1")
End If
Catch ex As Exception
Response.Write("error on child" + ex.ToString)
Finally
End Try
End Function

I want to create a random number range (1 to 16) and get them to an array. Although I found a way, it looks
Dim Range(16) As Integer<br />
Dim RandomNumber As Integer<br />
Dim i As Integer<br />
<br />
While i <= 15<br />
Randomize()<br />
RandomNumber = CInt(Int(16 * Rnd() + 1))<br />
<br />
For j As Integer = 0 To 15<br />
If Range(j) = RandomNumber Then<br />
Continue While<br />
End If<br />
Next<br />
<br />
Range(i) = RandomNumber<br />
i += 1<br />
End While
Is there any easy way to do that?

The easiest way to do this would be if the .NET containers support a random shuffle. Another option is to create a list that contains 1-16, and then use the random function to work out which index to next pull a value from, removing them as you go. That would get rid of the need for a duplicate check altogether.

Thank you for your reply.
but, can you explain it more?

Well, you create a List
Dim ints as List<int> = new List<int>()
Then you do a for loop to push the numbers 1-16 in there.
Then you use your random number generate 16 times, each time though you have a lower maximum ( so the last one is moot, you can only generate 1 ). Each time, you pull the digit out of the list at that position, and remove it from the list ( which is why your random number generator drops by 1 each time ). That way, you're pulling out numbers at random positions, and you don't need to check for duplicates.
