do an alert( myArray[i].DivID );
are you getting a read ID from that?
It doesn't seem right.
|
|
|
|
|
Did that...it's returning what I would have expected
SoAndSoMyID1
SoAndSoMyID2
...and so on

I figured it out thanx!
My array is actually structured like this:
DivID
Caption
ID
DivID is null if no ID is available, I was forgetting to test the ID for null before trying to display the division...and ironically the first element of the array was null, so the script was failing before I had any chance of seeing output so I figured it was getElementById..
Thanx for you time!

I’ve build a simple test C# Web Application using beta version of Visual Studio .NET. It’s a one Web Form with text label on it using all project defaults. It works fine on my PC. But when I copied it to my web server, I’ve got following error within Web.config file:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------Parser Error Message: File or assembly name System.Web, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
Line 44: <httpHandlers>
Line 45: <add verb="*" path="*.vb" type="System.Web.HttpNotFoundHandler,System.Web" />
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Couldn’t find System.Web.dll on a web server?
When I deleted <httpHandlers> section from Web.config file, I’ve got another error:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------Exception Details: System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: Void System.EventHandler..ctor(System.Object, UIntPtr).
Source Error:
Line 41: private static System.Collections.ArrayList __fileDependencies;
Line 42:
Line 43: public Test_aspx()
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like System.EventHandler constructor could not be found.
Any idea what is happening? Is it my fault or it’s a problem with ASP.NET setup on a web server?
I also tried to run an aspx file that doesn’t use Web forms and it works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

one of 2 things:
a) the server is v1 and you are beta2, they are not compatible.
b) the server is beta2 as well, but just set up wrong.

You could do this, however it would require that you load Javascript arrays into the page initially with the data you want, then loading other combo boxes with data from the arrays based on an initial selection. HTH

A number of ways this can be done. One is the store a DataSet in the application or session. You could also store the data in an XML island and mainipulate on the client side based on selections in the combobox(es). You could also create and load several comboboxes and show or hide them as required.

I've spent all day designing a drop down menu control which will solve any problems i've had in the past when implementing them. Also it cut down on time, only about 3 mins to design a fully functioning menu, if things keep going according to plan.
Anyways...in the past I know i've implemented the drop and float of popup menus wrong but am slowly figuring out how they should work. Just thought i'd run some ideas by you and see what you think.
When the mouse moves over the *td* element things flash and if over the toplevel menubar then a small child (popup) window should appear.
How should I make this window appear...?
should I intercept the OnMouseOver and start a 500ms timer, then display the popup menu...? I would also have to handle the onMouseOut to make the popup invisible, but then how should I keep the popup visible when the mouse moves over the popup, via the *td* menubar element...?
in the past i've used a timer and after time was up, if the mouse wasn't over either one of the menubar items or one of the popup window elements, the popup would disappear.
Suggestions...?
Thanx!

Is this an internet or intranet application? For intranets, if the client has a minimum of IE5.5, you can use the XMLHTTP object.

hi,
I want to access java script variable in a asp.
|
|
|
|
|
You want to access a client-side variable in ASP script? AFAIK it doesn't work that way. When an ASP page loads, all the ASP script is processed on the server, then the Javascript is processed on the client.

I am a total virgin with protocols so I may be off, but i'll explain to the best of my knowledge.
http is a stateless (non persistant protocol) this means it's impossible for a website to hold it's previous state, so using a variable defined in JScript from ASP on the server is impossible. I guess you could consider the following a work around for this short fall:
Use cookies...
Save the variable to cookie using JSCript and access it from ASP using cookies again.
Also...can you not send your variable as url encoded...?
Cheers!

I am at my wits end trying to get a proper Catalog going in Index Server.
I managed it once, but cannot recreate that feat.
I have a folder under the wwwroot folder called thewebsite . Under that are many folders, only two of which I want to be searchable, contents and resources . The files I want searchable are .xml, .doc, and .pdf files.
I set up my Catalog, point it at the website. When I check Index Server though it says that there are 208 documents to index and the Catalog size is 0 and the word lists are 0. That naturally is bad (the number of documents are right though.)
I have tried adding the Directories themselves to the Catalog, but no luck (though at first IS added a whole bunch of it's own directories and coloured them differently, they worked though!)
Does anyone have a step-by-step guide to creating a frigging Catalog for Index Server to search a website?
(p.s. sometimes the Catalog works, through blind luck I believe, but then the VPath property does not come through (tracking is set properly).)
My wits are ending!

why won't the following work?
<%
var buffer;
buffer = Request.QueryString("aValue");
Session("BufferValue") = buffer;
%>
or even
<%Session("BufferValue") = Request.QueryString("aValue");%>
I am trying to get a value passed in to a page (which works OK) and then store it in a Session variable so that it can be accessed by another page later. The error meesage I get says something like:
"can't store an Intrinsic Object in a Session variable"
Looks pretty good to me but perhaps I'm still in the C++ mindset!
Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

mmm very weird, I've used the same code line and it worked fine. Are you sure that the server supports the Session object?

thanks for your reply..
yes I think so, because if I give it a string literal:
e.g. <%Session("BufferValue") = "A string literal";%>
it works fine!
It gets used on a Form on another page, which, again, works fine if I give it the string but not the variable, as follows:
<FORM>
...other stuff
<input type=hidden name= FName value=<%=Session("BufferValue")%>>
</FORM>
Unfortunately though I can't give it a string.
thanks again for your help

You cannot use buffer as a variable name as it is an "intrinsic object" (whatever that means.) Check out Response.Buffer
So just change buffer to something else, like strBuffer etc.
