Client script means that page will not get post back to the server and on the client machine itself it will do the process.

I'm binding some data in my GridView using ObjectDataSouce. I need too, specify some SelectParameters what are stored in ViewState, but in the "Parameter Collection Editor Dialog", the "Parameter Source" option shows only: Cookie, Control, Form, Profile, QueryString, Session
I wish bind to some value in ViewState. How not appears the option "ViewState", I need place my values in some HiddenField control to bind...
Someone knows how I do to bind to ViewState?

Hi there,
There's no such a ViewState parameter existing, but there are two work-around options come to mind that you may consider:
+ Use the general Parameter for the select parameter, and create an event handler for the Selecting event. In the handler, you can populate the select parameter value from the ViewState, then add it to the InputParameters collection.
+ Develop your own custom parameter, say ViewStateParameter, which inherits from the base class Parameter . In the custom class, you at least override the protected method Evaluate to populate the ViewState and return the value. You also should remember that the ViewState is a protected property of the Control class, so if you want to access the ViewState of the control, for example the ViewState of the Page instance, from the outside of the control, you may consider using the reflection.

Hi,
what should be straight forward seems to be causing me a nightmare. Basically, I am reading a simple XML file into a dataset and then binding the dataset to a datalist. The XML contains links to images. Within my datalist is an image holder who's URL binds to what is stored in my XML file.
Here's the problem, my webpage shows some of the images but not others even though I know all the images exist. What's even stranger is when I press the refresh button some pictures that didn't display before now display! Can anyone help? is there a limit to the datalist in the amount it can store and display??

I was using IE for testing. Just tried Firefox and although it took a while to load all the images, they all loaded. Do you think the problem could be to do with the file size of the images? They are on average 1mb.

i m going to develop a web site in which i want to include chat application. all user can access the website but some particular user can chat if they want to chat with other user on the web. sit the will login through login name n password.
When the user click on a button then a form will appear and ask for login name and password after verification the user enter for chat. the application must be in Asp.Net(web application) not in Desktop application.
but i have no idea of asp.net. so please help me in source code to develop the chat room.

How to schedule an aspx page..
I had created an application to send emails.. I want to send emails once/twice for a week,
I had call the method to send an Email in page_load event.. but how to put aspx page in schedule tasks..of System..

I think you've misunderstood the technology somewhere.
If you want to create an applictation to send emails once or twice a week, why not create console application that the task scheduler can launch in the background for you?

It might be possible, but it would be quite a detour, and not a very stable solution.
Do as Colin Angus Mackay suggests and create a console application instead or a web page.

Hi all,
I have developed a custom pager control, which has been inherited from WebControl, IPostBackDataHandler. Function of the control is to render a pager layout ( page numbers, next, prev, buttons ) and raise an event on the server when page change in UI.
Problem is what when i place any validator control which are validate on server only are raising validation on custom pager control's post back.

Do you mean when your custom pager control is working, it causes the validators on the web page to work at the server side? If so, you can try to make your control implement the IPostBackEventHandler inferface, and simply leave the implementation of the RaisePostBackEvent method empty.

Each data grid will be the same in structure, but seperate from the others due to user requirements of collabsibility, totalling, etc. Now the database will determine how many datagrids I will need to display. in addition to the datagrids I need to display a bunch of descriptive text for each datagrid
