If you didn't pick any item from DropDownLost then search gonna be only from textbox parameter.
Note: set breakpoint in IF statement and by F11 look what's going on when u do not select any item from dropdownlist

You can add the setup and deployment project to your solution in Visual Studio. It might be a little extra work for some of this - You can create your own custom installers for anything that doesn't have built in support.
You can also look at InstallShield[^] itself, if that is your preference.

Hi all,
I am doing a website with asp.net and I would like to know how to get a particular field from a database.
After that the user log ins, I need to know if the user is a student or a teacher by checking the occupation that is saved in the table Userlogins in the Database. I tried to do something like the following but unfortunately it did not work
//ds is the typed Data Set
//UserloginsDataTable is the table where the occupation is saved
//Occupation is the name of the column
if(ds.UserloginsDataTable[0].Occupation.ToString().ToUpper() == "STUDENT")
{
}
Can anyone tell me if I am doing it right and if yes why isn't it working

What do you mean by "not working" what are the symptoms? Do you get a compiler error? A runtime error? What?

Actually it's working... but it isn't logging on with any accounts i'm trying with. The underneath is the code I have in the button submit
string occupation = (UHandler.UserLogIns.Rows[0]["Occupation"].ToString().ToUpper());
if(occupation == "STUDENT")
{
Session["userID"] = txtUsername.Text;
Response.Redirect("UsersViewProfile.aspx");
}
The problem is that I do not have a row filter which returns that 1 particular row, so it's searching in the first row where the occupation of that row is Teacher.
Did you understand me now?

In other words it is not working due to a logic error.

Why are you returning so many rows? If you only need one row what are the rest for? Do you only need one column value as well?
If you do need all these rows why not search for the row that you want? (Or is that what you are really asking for?)

i think if u write the table name u should not write the table[0];
u can write:
ds.tabel[0].row[1][2].tostring() == "student";
1 is the num of ur row and 2 is the num of ur column

Okay, here's something: The code behind file is created automatically by Visual Studio when you create an ASPX page.
If this is not what you are looking for then you could, perhaps, ask a more specific question rather than make a vague declaration.

I am displaying images in the image control in datalist .All the code is written in html.Now when i find that the image is portrait, the dimensions of image control is 100,100 and when i find the image is landscape the dimensions are 100,500.

Get the sample code from the site[^], then run in VS 2005. The ASP.NET 2.0 with VS 2005 supports backward compatibility, so if you have the sample code with datagrid running on the ASP.NET 1.x, then it should be working fine with the version 2.0. Or do you mean the GridView[^] control which is the successor of the datagrid control.

I have created a new WebControlLibrary. What i would like is to create a mouse hover event on the control but i have no idea how to achieve this behaviour. Is it possible to create mouse events on a custom control and how would it be done ?

What does your custom control look like? What does it do? How do you want to use the mouse events with your custom control? Basically, you can simply attach the mouse events to the Attribute collection of a child control of the custom control, if you are developing a composite control. If you create a rendered control, you can manage to do that in the overriden Render method. You can see the MSDN[^] for more information.

Well the control doesn't look like anything yet. It's just a new WebControlLibrary, i have set the backcolor so i can see it in the webpage, what i would like is when i hover the mouse over the control the event is triggered.

Do you mean it's just a default control added to the project when you create a new web control library? When you hover the mouse over the control, you want the event to be triggered, so do you mean the onmouseover event or a custom event defined in the control. If it is simply the onmouseover event, you can add the onmouseover="alert();" to the control declaration on the web page.
