Hi,
How do I display the coordinates of the mouse when the button is first clicked before dragging and when the mouse button is released after dragging?
I am using javascript to draw a triangle using mouse dragging.
How do I display the mouse coordinates when the mouse is clicked and when the mouse is released after dragging?
This means that only 2 coordinates will appear. When I click the mouse button, an x,y coordinate will appear. Then when I drag the mouse, no coordinates are calculated. When I release the mouse after dragging, another x,y coordinate will appear at the end point.

I'm coding a ASP.NET webApp using VB.NET backend
I have a dropdown list in a with about 1000 employees
If someone is looking for "john smith", i would like them to be able to type "j" which would narrow it down to the "j"'s and then "o" which would narrow it down further to just the "jo"'s currently when i type "j" then "o" it will narrow it down to the employees with "o" as the first letter of their name. Is there a way to do this with a dropdownlist control? or does anyone know of a custom control out there?
Thank you in advance
Colum

just download the dll, add a reference to it in your project, add the control to your toolbar and it works perfectly

Hi!
When defining styles in a stylesheet, is it wise to use _ and -? Something like members-area? Why I ask is does all browsers read it, or will some experience errors?i can keep it membersarea, but it's difficult to read.

Avoid those characters in class names. I can't find right now if they are allowed or not, but I think that I have seen that some browsers have problems with those.
You can use hungarian notation for the class names to make them more readable: MembersArea
Remember that class names in CSS are case sensetive, though.

wouldn't the hungarian notation include type info - rgMembersArea (char array), strMem.... etc?
Just out of interest, the java ' membersArea ' form - what do they call that again?

Yes. Hungarian notation came out from the mess that I refer to as my brain, when I intended to say Pascal case.

That is called camel case. Pascal case is sometimes referred to as upper camel case, and subsequently camel case is then referred to as lower camel case.

I have a textarea for which when the text exceeds the length of the textarea the text should come down to the next line without any horizontal scroll bars appearing. This is the default behaviour in IE but in Firefox whenever the text exceeds the length of the textarea, horizontal scrollbars appear (which i do not appear). Please advise.

have you tried experimenting with the WRAP = SOFT | HARD | OFF attribute of the TEXTAREA?
Note:
Officially, the HTML 4.0 specs don't list WRAP, but Netscape and MSIE list WRAP = HARD | SOFT | OFF in their guides.
SOFT wraps long lines in the text area for easy editing, much like a word processor. It does not, however, send the carriage returns to the server. This type of wrap is probably the most useful because it is the easiest for the user to edit, but it does not actually change any of their data. HARD looks to the user like SOFT, but the carriage returns the user sees are sent to the server. OFF does not wrap at all; it displays and sends the text exactly as typed in.

If you go to the site www.sportsline.com, it has an
image and below it Prev and Next. You can click Next
and it flicks through jpgs. It rotates through a stock
of images. How can I put this together where the user can
go through images like this?
Please any response any one can give me will be greatly
appreciated.
Sincerely,
Danielle Brina (an overworked graduate student)

i dont think that there is a way to do so. you can develop a windows service and can call this application at a regular interval or can specify some conditions.
