i have the following list defined:
<select onChange="alert('An Item is selected');">
<option selected >(NONE)</option>
<optgroup Label="Group1">
<option >Item1</option>
<option >Item2</option>
<option >Item3</option>
</optgroup>
<optgroup Label="Group2">
<option>Item4</option>
<option>Item5</option>
<option>Item6</option>
</optgroup>
</select>
When a user attempts to make a selection using the mouse scroll , the item right after the optgroup is not caught by the onchange event.How can i solve this problem?

hi all
so is there a control that will allow you to either
select from a dropdownlist but also let you type in
a NEW item on top? What control is that? Ive seen these on
websites.
I need my users to be able to select from the drop down, but
if the item of their choice doesnt exist, they can just type
it and hit "add" and it'll add to the wish list.
Or do I need to add a separate textbox and imitate this behavior?

I am developing asp.net1.1 application
I have hug number of records in DB( SQLServer ) & want to show in a datagrid
There are thousands of records which need to transfer to client & client can sort & search
What is the best way to handle such type of situation
I am also using Ajax , when I use Ajax to call a function it lock the page until the all data is transfer to client , that’s not good
Did I use xml file to send on client & from xml file show data to client
or if there is any good solution plz....

I have some serious css problems with IE
I have some styles nested like:
Box1.Blue
{
...
}
.Box1.Blue .Caption
{
..some completely different background image for blue box1 caption..
}
.Box2.Blue
{
...
}
.Box2.Blue .Caption
{
..background image for blue box2 caption..
}
and the html looks like:
<div class="Box1 Blue">
<div class="Caption">abc</div>
some content
</div>
and the same html for box2 style
this works all fine in FF, opera, NS but not in IE
in IE both the ".Caption" styles get the _same_ background image.
other attribs works though , eg if the captions has different bg colors.
but image seems shared for every element with the same name.. no matter what parent style it belongs to.
so is this a known bug and is there some workaround for it?
or do i have to make funny names like "Box1BlueCaption" ?

On the webpage you are viewing this, why not save the document (complete) to you hard drive. Navigate to where you have saved it and locate the global.css file and look at how it is constructed. You will note that there are no duplicate entries. Also remember that styles are inheritable.
Consequently, when you design css style sheets for your own use then do not try to confuse Internet Explorer.
In other words, dont name

Use the getElementById method to locate elements in the document. The value 'table' is not valid for the display style.
document.getElementById('hideableDiv').style.dislay = 'block';

I was wondering if it is possible to have an image wait to be loaded until the user clicked on a link? If this can be done could someone point me in the right direction on how to get this done. I was thinking of AJAX but I am not to familiar with AJAX. I am looking to get this done with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

Hi all,
I am building an application with a main screen (lets call it screen A), which contains a frame hosting another page (lets call it screen B). The two screens contain much javascript.The problem is that when i do something in A,it should excute some javascript found in B. I did the reverse without any problem but l'm pretty in a hassle with th is one.Can anyone please help me?

Hi,
I have been struggling to find a suitable div layout that is fixed, but haven't been successful for the last 5 weeks. I got thos XHTML starter kits from microsoft, which actually work very well, but the footer is just beneath the centre column.
Is there any chance that someone can help me make the footer expand across all 3 coloumns (left, centre, and right). Please let me know, then I can tell you what starter kit is.
If anyone knows where I can find a suitable layout that works well in all browsers, please let me know.

Hy guys!!
I've been looking almost forever for a suitable div layout, and I am working on one ast the moment, but the colours don't want to go all the way down. I need the colours to go all the way down, irrespective of what coloumn is the longest. It works fine in IE 6, but Mozilla and Opera seems to give problems.
Please can someone take a look please. The page is here[^].

If the rendering of the page differs between IE 6 and other browsers, it's almost always the other browsers that render the page correctly.
IE 6 incorrectly expands any element to the size of it's content, even when the standard says it shouldn't. This is what is happening in your layout.

Hello,
Actually i had made a website that is using IE of Windows,It works perfectly. Now i have to run it on IE of MAC also. but when i am opening my website on MAC's IE it shows totally wrong. means all the formatting displays too badly. and also the hidden controls are appears in MAC IE .
I think, for that we have to make some changes in the HTML tags of the .aspx pages. so if u can give me any example or any link that will show me the diffrence of code for MAC IE and Window IE , it will be great help for me .

Your website is not using IE ...
But anways, you should first try and write your markup so that it validates with validator.w3.org
That should minimize the differences. Then you revise your markup as it is quite possible that it is a total garbage judging from the fact that basicly the same browsers shows the page totaly different... btw: have you tried opening your page with Firefox or Opera?
The bottom line is: you must have used some heavy hacks and invalid markup to get this kind of results... but please use the validator first!
