I am deriving a new control from ListBox in which I wish to
intercept certain windows messages.
From what I can see, I need to override WndProc(ref m message) and then examine m.Msg. The trouble is, constants for Windows Messages such as WM_VSCROLL, do not seem to be defined anywhere.
Am I working along the right lines?

Unfortunately the Windows messages aren't defined anywhere in .NET; you'll have to pull the values out from the appropriate header file from the Platform SDK.

hi!
I ask this few days ago. but no one answert me..
therefore I ask over again..
what I want to do....
when an user checked one item in the ListView the other items must come
hidden.
or:
when an user checked one item in the ListView the other items must come
hidden and after the user cheched the second time
at this item all items was visible....
(I will make it to allowed the user to checked only 1 item)
the even I will use is:

If only one item can be selected why are you using the CheckListBox in the first place? Its very nature implies that you can select multiple items.
If you only want to allow one item to be selected you should use a normal ListBox or create your own control that does what the CheckListBox does but uses Radio buttons instead of check boxes.

Does anybody else got that problem?
When I use two controls in a panel, one with docking style 'Fill' and another with docking style 'Bottom' (for example, a text field and a HScrollbar), I can write text in the text area that gets behind the scroll!! e.g. the text area "thinks" it can paint in an area that actually belongs to the scrollbar. 
???

i think those properties are a nice new thing in c#. is there a way to have an array as a property? indexers are on a by-class-basis (so to say), so is there anything between?
imagine a table-class. i want something like
myTable.RowName[6]="Street";
myTyble.Cell[3,7] = 87;
so, how to define RowName or Cell
of course i can do it the old-fashioned way using member-functions a la
myTable.SetRowname(6,"Street")
or the other way around, make the array public, but then the user of my class is responsible for the range-checking. 
ok, the question in short again: can i have an array as a property? if yes, how?

You can define a property that returns a reference to an array.
Also, there is nothing stopping you from returning a reference to class that defines an indexer with multiple parameters.
Either way, it should work as you stated above...

Any idea on how to create a PropertySheet/PropertyPage equivalent in C#. Is there a inbuilt control for this purpose.

So far I haven't seen one. But with the way that the IDE handles the TabControl, it isn't as hard as it used to be.

I'm an fairly experienced Java programmer who's just started on the road leading to C# & .NET.
I would like to know whether there's someobody who's had experience with the same. Is it an easy port? Does it take time or can you manage it fairly quickly? How does C# and especially .NET compare with Java? If you've programmed in Java before, or still are, what do you prefer?

I never did any Java. But I can tell you this. The similarity ends with language syntax. As a Java guy you won't find C# mysterious. Just like how VB guys find VB.NET easy. And C++ guys find Managed C++ easy. But that's only 1/4 th the battle. The main challenge is understanding the .NET framework. The great thing about .NET is that the language or compiler does not really matter. That's just a matter of personal choice. Almost like the color of a motor car. The peformance does not depend on the car's color huh?

Try the JUMP tool from microsofts MSDN site. It's a free to for Java User Migration Path (JUMP) and it is suppose to convert your code pretty well.

Nope, it isn't possible. You could write a component in MC++ which contains the code then call it from C#, I believe the QuickStart samples have an example of how to do this [Edit: "this" refers to using MC++ to wrap some C/C++ code, the code you will wrap with MC++ is the ASM code].
