Thought this would be the most relevant place to post this, my apologies if not.
I really need a .net programmer to work with me on the final stages of a project. It's going to be approx 2 to 3 weeks of work. Mostly tidying up code, some UI stuff etc... Preferably someone that has shipped at least one .net product and has experience in finishing and 'polishing' products (something that's damn hard on your own).
So here are the REQUIREMENTS (this means if you don't fit the bill don't respond)
- MUST LEGALLY RESIDE IN THE USA (Caps might ensure it's read properly)
- Must speak and read English (or at least somewhat)
- Must be willing to talk on the 'phone regarding the work to be accomplished
- Must have prior .net deployment experience (because I'm too lazy, I mean too busy to read up on it)
- Must understand that accepting payment for some work means responsibility on their part
- Must understand that as a Brit, my sense of humor is f****k up
- Must be willing to telecomute (hehe, like that's a bad thing)
I live in Southern California so priority will be given to anyone responding from that area.
Please, this isn't a bunch of crap I actually NEED someone.

There is not...
The closest is the 70-300 which I think is boring and useless but if you want to be MCSD you will have to take it, but my advice is that if you don't have at least an MCAD don't try it...

Hi all,
I am writing the 70-305 exam next week. I have been reading through the MS study kits, and also been reading a few msdn articles, or the enterprise library for Visual studio 2003 for the last 4 months. I have been getting steady 86% - 96% success rate with the MeasureUp practice tests. I have to complete atleast one of the MCP exams before end of June, as required by my company.
I have the following questions...
1) Will this be enough to get me through the exam?
2) As 2.0 is out now(I have been working with it already), will it be better to do only the one exam, and then continue with the asp.net 2.0 certification path?
I need some advice.

Let me tell, I used MeasureUp for my first certificacion Exam, I can garantee you that it sucks!. You can get a 100% with MeasureUP and get 0 in the exam because the MeasureUp people knows nothing about those exams...
You can go to exam cram, they have a free sample there and I think it is much better than measureup.
Don't worry to much because 70-305 is easy. Actually I would say it is one of the easiest ones if you really study the subjects....
The will ask you a lot related to the web.config, so better learn all the options and configurations, they will do that for every subject..
Also they are going to ask you <%Page blabla options%>...
If you know very well those you have half exam, ADO.NET is the rest you need to know.

Hello everybody, I am about to create a database-oriented program for a Video Club.I have in my disposal MFC, Delphi, VBA and I am going to use MySql for the Database. I need any suggestions about which programm language to use, I know that a program is much easily implemented with Delphi but I am a C++ fun. Is it easy enough for a single person to create a decent program of this kind by using MFC within a period of a few months?Have in mind that I am not a Guru.

I'm a computer graduate currently doing self-study. I aim to involve in programming and software development in Microsoft platform (perhaps mainly in database system).
I'm currently learning SQL Server, VB.Net and will start ASP.Net. I intend to take MCSD.Net exam for SQL Server and VB.Net first. I find studying MCSE Windows exams syllabus could help to improve both my understanding of system and coding...
Is there a need to study MCSE first before taking MCSD? If yes, what's the rationale behind?

MCSE is the highest level certification from Microsoft, MCSD is not.

Actually MCSE and MCSD are two totally different lines of certification. One is not "higher" than the other. MCSE is for system engineers, people that want to setup and maintain networks and domains, for people that want to learn about Active Directory. There are many "flavors" of this cert and here is what MS says about it... "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSEs) design and implement an infrastructure solution that is based on the Windows operating system and Microsoft Windows Server System software. Specializations include MCSE: Messaging and MCSE: Security."
MCSD is for developers. It is for people that are programming in VB.Net, C#, or Managed C++ (recently added). There have been quite a few developer bases certs to expand on this now too (MCTS, MCAD, MCPD).
There are some certifications like the MCDBA that require database exams and also Windows server exams. Take a look at the offical page if you want to know about what a certain certification is about.

From personal experiences, people that get MCSD can USUALLY do some basic MCSE tasks, and MCSE's can USUALLY do basic programming, but you normally pick one or the other to go into. Not saying that you couldn't do both, but you would not want to be viewed as a paper-MCSE or paper-MCSD.

You probably mean MCAD or MCSD. It wont do you much good swotting VB.Net going into a MCSE (Certified Systems Engineer) exam. MCSE is for Operating systems and stuff.
MCAD is a lower level than MCSD and is aimed at the desktop developer rather than an Enterprise solutions developer. Its up to you if you want to do the MCAD first then do the extra units for MCSD or go for the MCSD qualification. The reality is you will need to do the MCAD units anyway so you can stop there if you want. Best for you to have a look at the offical info on the Microsoft website.
To be honest i dont really think either is worth the bother. Some companies may prefer you to have one as they can get points for the Microsoft Partner Program but its up to you.

I'm so sick of coding for hire. I'm just fed up with it. I have some ideas and I'm ready to write my own systems and sell them instead of writing other peoples. I'm not seeking someone for work right now. Instead I'm seeking a pool of people who would be willing to give me there personal email addresses so that I can tap them as resources later.
Having said that I need someone who:
1. Has an internet connection, email and a desire to work on extra projects.
2. Very good in Asp .Net 1.x and 2.x.
3. Very good with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.
4. Has been doing ASP work for hire for at least 2 years and is self-employed doing it for hire.
5. Wants to do contract work in ASP .Net. 
I have ties to a lot of companies wanting a lot of work at times. There will be years (like this one) where I might keep you pretty busy. There might also be some dry spells so please don't expect me to be your gravy train.

Hi Rex,
I'm currently in a similar position as you are, with an awful lot of contract work. However, part of my vision as a company is to get some work in the US, mainly so that my future customers can benefit from the folowing advantages:
1. Lower costs. Definitely, software development in Mexico is much cheaper than in the United States.
2. Culture, geographic location and timezone. As you mention, there are very few cultural differences between the US and Mexico, and we are close enough to make travelling practical.
I'm not American, but I don't think my English is that bad, and I comply with the other four points, so I guess I qualify for your interest. 
We currently have a lot of work (we are fully booked for the next two or three months), but anyway I'm very interested in making this alliance that could benefit us both (and anyone else who wants to join).

I was thinking of using a PHPBB message board so we could have a place to chat stuff out. Let everyone be admins and we can create groups and stuff based upon events.

Lower than here in Indonesia. How much per hour does the rate in US dollars? I think people around here will gladly take $2/hour work.
