In IIS administration, in the properties form for your website, they should see a tab called asp.net. On this tab you can specify which version of .net your site should run under.

Hello,
The target server is a remote one that I do not have access to... so how do I configure the IIS to run my intended version?

Somebody must have access to it- get them to do it

Hi everyone,
When i start debug a very simple web form i received the error message
"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging on the web server".
I'm using Windows XP SP2 .NET Framework v1.1 .I also set the debug mode in Web.config to true but i still get error? Please tell me how to resolve or some articles about this. Thanks very much

i've read that article.I found a error message like i got
"Unable to start debugging on the web server.Server side-error occurred on sending debug HTTP request."
As mentioned in that article, there are two reasons for that error:
1.The web application does not have an application name.(My app has one.I've checked it)
2."If you are using the NTFS file format, make sure that "aspnet" has proper privilege on "wwwroot" or your folder for virtual directory to access and write on the folders."
But i dont know how to give aspnet privilege on wwwroot.I use NTFS.
Last time i used FAT32 and i found an ASPNET account in User Accounts of Windows (i did not do anything just see that). So how to add ASPNET account to User Accounts?
Thanks for reading

you must have Write privilege on your web vitual Dir which you can set by going to IIS and virtual Dir Properties and enabling write check box.

Might have to reregister it with by running:
System32\Microsoft.NET\Framework\vxxx\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Most likely that you haven't told the site to permit debugging I'd guess...
IIS Admin -> Site Props -> Configuration button -> Debugging Tab
Have a mooch there and make sure that "alles ist gut"

I have developed a web site that is quite dynamic, I can add columns in databases, got dynamic queries and all.
The problem is I can save data in the relational databases but when its time to retrieve it I can't place it in the textboxes (Because the textboxes are generated at runtime according to the number of items in the database. What shud I do.
I hope someone understands what em tryin to say.
If only they could see what I see in my mind

Simply keep your data in a DataSet or any other data Object and use it to set values for your textboxs after your controls are created.
Sorry if i dn't understand properly

Thanx for taking interest, the problem issince the textboxes are created dynamically so are there names, this means that before the program executes there are no boxes so I dont have names to bind data to. Also if I try to make combos using Request or objects I have to place it on the L.H.S. to assign a value to it the compiler gives errors.

can you please explain on wot stage you creating the controls.
and how you getting data to know number of controls you want to create.
thanks

I read the number of columns from the database store it in the Session and then run a loop in the HTML to create that many
This way my database has complete dynamics I can add and delete records as well as fields i.e. columns.

Collect you data from database in dataset and recreate textbox and fill that textbox with data while traversing the record from dataset one by one.

Surely you could use something like a repeater control for this work...?
It should take away most of the pain.
|
|
|

Why dont you try to store the data in a dataset and assign it to Datasource/Datamember of the texbox.

<asp:HyperLink ID="details" Runat="server" Target="_blank" NavigateUrl='webform3.aspx?id =<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.dataItem,"newstitle")%>'>details</asp:HyperLink>
I am not getting the value from the newstitle tag
When i put the mouse on the hyperlink It show the message in the status bar
'webform3.aspx?id =<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.dataItem,"newstitle")%>
But i want id = string
string = data in the database.

lol - look at your quotes...
You have a single opening quote on the navigate URL attrib, but you need to close it and add a + symbol if you want the rest to appear as evaluated - you're just showing it as a literal string. Put the DataDinder bit outside the quotes
