What I am trying to do here is recording the sent/received webmail. Before AJAX era, I utilized OnBeforeNavigate in WebBrowser Control to get notification event so I can capture the traditional webmail. But now with AJAX, since the top URL will not change when user click on "Inbox","Compose", the usual trick won't work and I think I need to inspect the data retrieved by XMLHTTP which means I need to have notification event for that. Do you know any way to do this for IE?
Thanks

I'm having the problem of my CSS looking screwy under IE or working with IE and looking screwy uner Fire fox.
Are there any guides on writing CSS that plays nice with both...or should i use script to choose a style sheet based on the users browser and have a CSS for NS and one for IE?
Thanks.

It's definitely possible to write CSS that works with both IE 6 and other browsers.
I make the clear distinction between IE 6 and other browsers because most other browsers follow the standards very well, but IE 6 has a number of rendering bugs that you have to avoid specifically.
Start by making it work in Firefox, then it will in most cases also work in other browsers like Netscape, Mozilla and Opera. Then you try to tweak it to also work with IE 6.
Here are descriptions[^] of the most IE rendering bugs.

Could someone explain this( i mean the bold ,and underlined part) who is really familiar with Web Services:
Web services is at once a technology, a process, and a phenomenon. As a technology it is a set of
protocols that builds on the global connectivity made possible by SOAP and the synergies of XML
and HTTP. As a process, it is an approach to software discovery and connection over the Web. As
a phenomenon, it's an industry-wide realization that the decentralized, loosely coupled, synergistic
Web can't be ignore

A Word Document? I don't think Word would be able to save directly to a server, but you can let users upload the file when they are done editing. But i'm thinking more like having a server-side script that takes the text (and a few images if necessary, though the image has to be already on someone's server and be identified by a url) that users enter into a form, most likely a web-based text editor type of thing (Java?) and writes that to a word document on the server. But i don't know you would want it to "edit" the document or keep the original for backup and simply create another copy.

Can CSS do gradients? I know i can just make a gradient in Photoshop and use if as the bg, but if CSS can do gradients, I'd love to know how to do it.
Thx.

Tried in in IE and FF it worked in both
yeah, thanks for posting
i was looking at that last night too because its the closest to what i mean to show, but i wasn't sure if she/he wants actual code like i usually do to figure out if that trick would work for me. But it would take seconds to generate another gradient like this in PHP.
You use 'html forms' for the data entry boxes, the top R, G & B, the bottom R, G & B and the # of lines for height ( I mean if you are doing just a little tool bar 25 lines will be sufficient, so it's nice to be able to set it). Use the 'get' method for the form if you are gonna have the form and the code in the same document. Then i guess you can use the while loop for the whole operation with a simple formula... Divide the difference between each of the corresponding values (R & R, G & G, etc) by the # of lines to determine the # by which to increment the next value. Then have it write the code into a table cell at the bottom of the page.
I really hope i was clear in this, and if you need help in PHP just ask somoene, or look into this tutorial : http://www.tizag.com/phpT/index.php[^]

Hello,
I have used some simple web services in the past using VS2003.
I am now creating a project in VS2005, and have created another simple web service. I am able to go to it's location on "http://localhost/WebServiceLocaton/WebService.asmx" no problem. It shows the availble WebMethods which I can use Invoke on to test.
However, I am unable to go directly to the location of a WebMethod as I was able to with the VS2003 WebService.
When I try to access it directly at
http://localhost/WebServiceLocation/WebService.asmx/WebMethod I get this error:
Server Error in '/WebServiceLocation' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/WebMethod'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the
stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in
'/WebMethod'.
Source Error:
An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the
origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

[InvalidOperationException: Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/WebMethod'.]

System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +191
Does anyone have any idea why I would be getting this and what I need to do to be able to get to my methods directly? It seems I am only able to access them using POST, but not GET, but I am not very familiar with how each works and what to do to allow my WebService's methods to be accessed by both.
Also, if I post my website on a different server, when I attempt to go to it I get the error that it can only be accessed from a local machine. I am not sure if the two problems are related.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I need some help for my BS Project. I have to design a full featured instant messenger supporing live audio and vedio chat.
How much Dot Net and its Web Services are helpful in this regard?
Should I focus on other technology?
I am a beginner and guide me properly. Thanks!

Hi
I'm develloping a b2b solution and i need to exchange soap messages with a business partner.
I am now able to post xml with a webservice to their webserver, using httpwebrequest and i also can receive their response.
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://www.someurl.com/receive");
I now need the inverse operation. I need to suply them a url so they can post/get their xml messages to me. How do i do that? I've been reading a lot, but i'm confused! i guess i don't need a webservice, i just want them to post their requests like i do, and send them a response like the one i'm getting...
HttpWebResponse wr = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
Any help will be highly apreciated..... i'm getting a little desperate here!
TIA
Joana
