I have an XMLcontrol on my ASP.Net page but i want its output to NOT parse tags into "& lt", etc
It has been said that I should use Server.HtmlEncode() on the XMLcontrols output but exaclty how do i do this ?

You could use the below code.

System.IO.FileInfo oFile = new System.IO.FileInfo("c:\\Log.txt");<br />
long lSize = oFile.Length/1024; <br />
It returns the file size as bytes. You can just divide 1024 to get the value in KB.

Hello  ,
I m new to ASP.net and I am doing a project. In which when user selects Country(DropDownList) then only State(DropDownList)field should be enabled & only those states should be filled which belongs to selected Country.
I have created a table named State_City which contains two columns State and City. Record should come from table only.
plz help  as soon as possible.

Here are the steps that you might need to do:
+ Set the AutoPostBack of the Country dropdownlist to true.
+ Create an event handler for the SelectedIndexChanged of the Country dropdownlist.
+ In the handler, get the selected value of the Country list.
+ Execute an SQL command to query states based on the specified country.
+ Bind the result to the State dropdownlist.
If you don't know to implement the steps, you can see ASP.NET quick start[^].
However, this way posts the entire page back the server, while you may want to update the dropdownlist only, so you can use AJAX here. The sample code is available out there, just have a good search.
Btw, the subject is asking about the Date, but don't see you mentioned it in your post.

hello
I want to ask if it is better to use typed datasets, table adapter and the objectdatasource for asp.net 2.0 applications or making all connections via the sqldatasource?
I started with strong typed datasets, tableadapter and objectdatasource and there are some problems like getting data from more then one table and updating this - so now I ask me this question.

It depends on what you are trying to do. Strongly typed datasets are table specific so cannot be used with different tables.
Strongly typed is better than untyped.

i want to start with a big webapplication for a comany.
but how will I do updates over more tables with the table adapter feature and the nice GUI 
are there any tutorials how to use this combination:
* database
* strongly typed datasets
* table adapter
* object data source
* controls (gridview and co)
* updates, inserts, selects
* edit and update feature with gridview when displaying in one grid more then one table via table adapter and object data source
cause all books and tuts do this things by using sql data source

User controls are not aware of each other. You have to access the controls through code in the main page, or if you can limit the use of a control to once per page, you can use a threadstatic reference in the class to the created instance.

Hello All
I have created an ASP.NET 2.0 DetailsView and am binding it at RUNTIME to a dataset by doing this
DetailsView1.DataSource = ds
The control is in Edit Mode and when it is loaded I can see the data fetched from the database.
But when I want to update the data in the DetailsView into the database , under the ItemUpdating event I call DetailsView1.UpdateItem(True) method.This unfortunately does not work.
My Questions are
1. Is it possible to use this method when the control has been bound at runtime? Cause all the code snippets I have seen so far are oing it at design time
2. If it is possible is there any property thats needs to be set OTHER than CurrentMode = 'Edit'?
3. Is there any way to access the value in the textboxes of the DetailsView at runtime

Yes. But if you don't provide the DetailsView control with a datasource control you then need to create an handler for the ItemUpdating event of the DetailsView and put your code to execute the update command.

You first need to get reference to the TextBox using the FindControl method, you then can access the value of the control.

Open/Save word documen in the server
i need to open the word document in the server and display it
to the user, and save changes if any to the server back
i am able to open and display it in explore (.doc file is in url)
but save back to server ?? so for this i need some control with in with
i can open and save ,
