Sounds like an email client program to me. ASP.NET or Native client?
Depends on the server, to be honest. Most support IMAP4 (which is described in RFC2060) or POP3 (which has many references). If you have the choice, go for IMAP4 - it's a more complex protocol, but has better support for things like search, sort, and multiple folders.
I believe I saw an IMAP4 component in the Articles for C#.
http://www.codeproject.com/cs/internet/imaplibrary.asp
There is also two different ones for POP3, and one specifically for Exchange. This gets the data from the server to your client. You can then use pretty much anything to display it.
The major problems you will come across are parsing MIME data (for attachments, HTML mail, etc.) and dealing with mail in some other language/character set that you don't know - for example, Thai, Chinese and Japanese all have multi-byte encodings that are a pain to deal with.

In MS-Office there is a feature under the Mail Merge toolbar that sends the dataset to the printer.
I would like to know is it possible to do the same in C#. Here is my senario XML file with 5 different nodes. I would like to be able to print all 5 nodes. In 5 different sheets with a specifit formats.
Is this possible?

private void button1_MouseMove(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs e)
{
button2_MouseMove(sender, e);
...
}
private void button2_MouseMove(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs e)

Put the process in a separate method, and call the method from the event methods.

hi,
Can anyone tell me how can i send mails without using SMTP Server provided by .NET (without using SMTPServer.Send())
I want to send mails in a large number so i dont want to use the relay server of the IIS, as it is slow.
Can anyone tell me how i can bypass the SMTP Server and directly send mail to the internet.
It will be a great help,
Thanks
Sushant Duggal.

You have to write your own SMTP server then (well mostly). Search on SourceForge, I think there is such a component.

can you please send me the link (if you know that)????

Just go to : http://sourceforge.net
and search for "SMTP Server"

Thanks friend,
I'll check that.. currently the site is under maintenance.
Thanks again

Sourceforge is entirely opensource software. you can find the code to download for any of the programs hosted on it.

To do this in RAW code, you would contact the mail server via a socket connention, you will have to authenticate. Then you send the email header which is simple, then you send the content. That's it.
Read up on SMTP protocol.
The program psuedo code
Socket s = new Socket(emailserver, port);
s.open(); // starts the session
s.send(userid_password); // signs you in
// next create your email header it starts with something like ehelo or helo
// Then tell it the type of mail you are sending Text, html etc.
// Then send it.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I am doing this using TCPClient
<br />
<br />
client = new TcpClient(smtpServer, smtpPort);<br />
NetworkStream ns = client.GetStream();<br />
StreamReader stdIn = new StreamReader(ns);<br />
StreamWriter stdOut = new StreamWriter(ns);<br />
<br />
here the problem is my machine throughs an error that destination machine rejected the connection., and then i checked my machine and found that my machine's port 25 is not responding ... can you tell me the possible reason.
There is no firewall, SMTP Server is running,IIS is running,I have checked the norton settings, everything is fine.. i dont know you the port 25 is not responding
Please ehelp
Thanks
Sushant Duggal.

If I remember this correctly port 25 is the port of the email server, not necessarily your computer. If you can't even get the port open then the remote side isn't listening.
The three way handshake will always happen first.
Syn ---->
<----Syn Ack
Ack ---->
This indicates the port is opened.
Then you have to do the password stuff.
Once the socket is open you have two choices.
Microsofts own proprietary email protocol IMAP
or SMTP. SMTP is simple. You can run a ethereal trace at anytime to see the protocol.

I don't know if the web browser can do that or if you can do something IN IT.
But I do know that there is 2 objects that can help you with that:
System.Net.WebRequest
System.Net.WebResponse.
Try to learn something about them.
Search in the CodeProject articles.
Good-Luck.

Hello.. ive been searching and still can't find the answer. This might be a bit trivial for some, but am really confused why this is not working.
I have a property grid, am using this to edit/display/manipulate a resource file actually. I've based my code on a C# sample resource Editor. Right now what am trying to do is to capture the double click event on the property grid. That is if a certain row has a double click event, i will retrieve the value on that row.
Does anybody knows ?

Hi, I have loaded a Word document in c# using the Word 9.0 object library. The doc contains numbered paragraphs.Now i have to navigate to a particular paragraph using only the list number(i.e. i want to goto paragraph with no. 2.3, 3.4 etc). Can any method in word object library do this? There's a find method but it only searches for text. I tried setting the format option for this method to true, but it doesn't work either. I need help ASAP

hI im using the Process Class to execute a Exe application in my program. The exe outputs a file but when I run the program the file isnt in the directory. So how do I get the output into a file?
code example would be helpful
thanks
Mike

You have to decide which of the outputs you want STDERROR, STANDARD etc.
Then you simply redirect the standard to a string and write it to a file.
Do a search for Process redirect.
