Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to specify the file name to open using PostMessage,
The code:
PostMessage(hwnd,WM_COMMAND,(WPARAM)ID_FILE_OPEN,NULL), works fine but still I have to specify the file name.
Note: the window i posted the message is another application window, this is what I asked for!
PostMessage(hwnd=Other app main frame window, ...)
Kind regards.

If your intention is to open a known file in an MFC application without prompting the user, I think you can try this:
AfxGetApp()->OpenDocumentFile("file path");

It seems like you have a Release configuration active. Setting the Current Configuration to Debug should help.
this is this.

Check if your program is compiled under debug mode and contains debug information (you have to check that in the project properties which are specific to the IDE you are using). Check also that the breakpoint is on a valid line (a line that produces assembler code). For example, putting a breakpoint on a variable declaration won't work (as it doesn't produce any assembler instruction).

Hey buddies... Just want to ask if anyone knows how to have total control in using C++.. I'd rather have my own interface rather than that already-made-c++ - controls.. Thanks pals...

What do you exactly mean by total control?
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

Do you mean Owner-Drawn controls? The controls available in the VC++ IDE are standard Windows® controls.
They are not just pictures.
Anyway, your question is not clear.

Hi
I am working in MFC. I have placed a multiline edit box on my dialog box. what i am doing it is that i write some text in another edit box and append it with the previous data in multiline text box. How can i force the text that is being appeneded to multiline text box in such a way that it is always displayed in new line.
I tried this thing.
multilinetextbox = multilinetextbox + "\n"+ texbox;
But it does not work.
Please tell me some tip to do it.
Thank you.

You should also have added a '\r' to it like: "\r\n" .
this is this.

Try "\r\n" as line separator.

Use multilinetextbox = multilinetextbox + CString("\n"+texbox); which may reduce one extra call to CString constructer or + Operator

How can I trap all windows messages - not only the ones sent to my application but all messages in the system?

You will have to deal with the messages using Hooks.
It's a suggestion that hooks should only be used if necessary.

Dear developers,
I am a Visual C++ developer and facing heat & difficulties from VC++.Net. It has changed the whole structure. With the introduction of Classes in .Net, programming in Vc++.net is very different from Vc++ And I find it hard to migrate to VC++.Net. Moreover, There are hardly any newsgroups favoring VC++.Net. Tell me Is It an end to VC++ future? Will VC# be our next programming language?
To me .Net appears equal to Java with the class concepts.
Kindly explain a simple example like adding two integers in VC++.Net.
