Hi,
How do I use a validation control with the asp:FileUpload control to check that just gif and jpg files can be uploaded?
I got it like:
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator
id="FileUpLoadValidator" runat="server"
ErrorMessage="Upload Jpegs and Gifs only." ValidationExpression="^(([a-zA-Z] |(\\{2}\w+)\$?)(\\(\w[\w].*))(.jpg|.JPG|.gif|.GIF)$"
ControlToValidate="FileUpload1">
</asp:RegularExpressionValidator>
But how will I check for something else, like file size? I can do a manual check, but I want it to display in a validaton summary control. Can someone please advise me.
Regards,
ma se

From MSDN :
Security and the FileUpload Control
Using the FileUpload control, users can upload potentially malicious files, including script files and executable files. You cannot limit in advance the files that a user can upload. If you want to limit the types of files that a user can upload, you must examine the file characteristics (for example, the file name extension and the value of the file's ContentType property) after the file has been uploaded.

I don't think you are able to do that. What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe there's some other way around that?

Thanks for your help.
Basically I am doing LDAP authetication. We have our ldap server. The authentication function wants windows user id and the password. We can get the password in http request, but for that we have to uncheck the Basic authentication checkbox in inetmgr(IIS) for the site. This does not encrypt the password. Is there any class for LDAP authentication.

the most basic:
in the aspx page:
<code><table>
<tr>
<td>
<asp:LinkButton id="LinkButton1" runat="server">lastyear</asp:LinkButton></td>
<td>
<asp:Calendar id="Calendar1" runat="server"></asp:Calendar></td>
<td>
<asp:LinkButton id="LinkButton2" runat="server">nextyear</asp:LinkButton></td>
</tr>
</table></code>
in the code behind:
<code>private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
if(!IsPostBack)
Calendar1.SelectedDate = DateTime.Now;
}
private void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
Calendar1.SelectedDate = Calendar1.SelectedDate.AddYears(-1);
Calendar1.VisibleDate = Calendar1.SelectedDate;
}
private void LinkButton2_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
Calendar1.SelectedDate = Calendar1.SelectedDate.AddYears(1);
Calendar1.VisibleDate = Calendar1.SelectedDate;
}</code>

Yes, it's possible. If it does not work with you, you might want to post your code snippets.

Hi,
While building a custom control I have come across a rather straightforward problem.
I declared two web controls, a label and a button and added them to the Custom Control in CreateChildControls() method using Controls.Add(myControl). I also wired up the Button click event as follows:
ButtonComputeValue.Clicked += new EventHandler(ButtonComputeValue_Click);
The event handler is as follows
private void ButtonComputeValue_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
\\some code here
}
What's exactly happening here is when the complete control is built and used in the webform, the event handler is not being called when the button is clicked. Any suggestions are highly appreciated and Ocoz needed
