Thanks! It works. I have just tested it on the dev machine.

Not really, but I couldn't have cared either way. It's just we Welsh like taking the **** out of the English but on the whole we prefer if a British team wins (we think of it as Britain rather than England playing).
The Welsh will always support two teams: The Welsh, and anyone playing England

I made a control library and in it derived a control from the System.Windows.Forms.Textbox control. Now some attributes that can be set for a Textbox control should not be configurable at design time by the project using the control library e.g. I don^t want the user of the control to make it accept tabs or make it multiline. Unfortunatly when I put that control on a form the designer can still see the AcceptsTab attribute in the properties-window and put it to true or false. Is there a way to make that attribute dissapear from the properties of the control?? Can I hide attributes of the base class?
Thanks for any help you might provide,
Davy

Have you tried overriding these properties? You could try doing that without putting any attributes on it. Maybe if you do so without specifying in the attribute where you want the property to appear, it just won't appear worth a shot...
Sorry that's all I can think of right now

Is it possible to configure the project in C# in such a way so that code will not compile until and unless proper xml comments are provided for all the public methods in the project classes??

If you specify the generation of the XML comments file in the project properties then you will get warnings for missing XML comments on public methods and fields. Then maybe you can enforce a policy of having no warnings - not sure whether you can force warnings for missing XML comments to be errors. No doubt in a Team Foundation Server environment you can define a check-in policy.

What are proper xml comments? As was stated you can get a warning but there really is no automated way that I'm aware of to enforce a rule such as this. It is more up to documented procedures and followups such as code reviews.

No. But if the project has an XML output file, Visual Studio will at least give warnings to invalid or missing XML comments.

Sorry, I didn't see the other answers when I posted this. Didn't mean to reiterate what others rightly posted.

As others have said, you get warnings about XML comments when you set the XML documentation file property.
Then in your build properties for the project, why not just set the "Treat Warnings As Errors" to true?

Is there any way to treat only particular warning as an error?? Like in my case i.e. when xml comments are not specified it generates compile error no. cs1591. I would like to treat only this warning as error. I don't want other warnings to stop program compilation.
Thanks to all who have taken time to reply my query..

how can i use crystal reoport in visual studio 2005 express edition.

You've asked the same question three times man...
To answer your question:
You can add a Crystal Reports Viewer as any usercontrol, it's in your toolbar.
You can create Crystal Reports in your VS environment by project->Add->New Item Crystal Report
However, if you need to create many reports, use the Crystal Decisions Software.
You can manipulate reports and the viewer in code, but you need to read up on that.
You can find some info on MSDN, but my suggestion would be a book. My learning curve was about 2 or 3 weeks before you can do anything really descent
PS: I'm not familiar with VS2005 editions, it could be that the express edition does not contain the Crystal Reports stuff.
good luck.
I've found a living worth working for, but I haven't found work worth living for.

Hi
I have created a generic class. This class has a property on it that takes on the type T that is used when creating an instance of the class.
T will be an enumeration. When the instance of the class is being used there are some cases where only the int value relating to the enumeration will be known, in this case I want to pass the int value into my generic class and have it cast it to the enumeration. This is what I can't figure out, see the DatabaseFromValue property below.
Any ideas what I need to do here? I'm new to generics, so if I'm completely of track here please say.
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Text;
namespace GenericsTestApp
{
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{
EnumSimpleSearch<myenum> search = new EnumSimpleSearch<myenum>();
search.From = MyEnum.cat; //This is fine
search.DatabaseFromValue = 1; //This is what I'm having the problem with, see property in class below
}
}
class EnumSimpleSearch<t>
{
public EnumSimpleSearch()
{
}
private T myVar;
public T From
{
get { return myVar; }
set { myVar = value; }
}
public int DatabaseFromValue
{
set
{
//I've tried the following:
myVar = (T)value; //Cannot convert type 'int' to 'T'
}
}
}
public enum MyEnum
{
cat = 0,
dog = 1
}
}
Thanks

Hi
While binding the datatable to your combobox, you have mentioned the ValueMember and DisplayMember, but while retriving the value just mention ComboBox.SelectedValue.

Hi,
I created one labelitem in the dotnetbar's status bar.
There is one property "Cursor" of the labelitem where you can set the type of cursor.
I set the "Cursor" as "Hand" type in the dotnetbar designer .
But when I mouse hover the labelitem ,it doesnt show the hand type mouse pointer.
It shows the normal pointer .
Any help in showing the hand type pointer on the labelitem would be appreciated.
