Good point, if I hooked the user32.dll it'd be current user presumably.
I had considered systray but thought it could be easily overlooked. I suppose I could use alternating bright colours to draw the eye...

What is it that you are trying to accomplish, really? Who is going to monitor the appplication, and why?
If you change the default cursor, that could easily be overlooked too. The pointer could be at the edge of the screen. The pointer can be set to be hidden while typing.

Good question, in actuallity I'm probably more determined to change the cursor in this manner because I'm quite pleased with the animation I've created.
|
|
|
|
|
Can't you use the animation as an icon in the system tray?

Yeah, i've settled for SysTray but i'm having this problem now

Hello
I want to reduce the length of an integer number to transmit the number.
e.g. I have an number e.g. 123456789 and I want to compress it to something like 3a34z1
Is there a standard solution in C#/.net for that?
Thanks and best regards,
Martin

What kind of algorithm is that ?
|
|
|
|
|
Why don^t you just send the integer in stead of a string representation of the number?
|
|
|
|
|
Because it is a long number and I have to pass it manually, e.g. by telephone. So the main target of the algorithm I am looking for is to shorten the integer.

You can output it to hex, or you can search for the Base36 number article here on CP.

I want to add Images at runtime in Datacolumn.
|
|
|
|
|
I assume you want to add images to datagrid via datacolumn.
There is no direct way of adding images to datacolumn or datagrid.
Surf thru the attached link, it will give you a sample code as how to add images to the column.
http://www.windowsforms.net/FAQs/default.aspx?PageID=2&ItemID=536&CategoryID=3&tabindex=3
The above example is for displaying the icon. Just change the icon to gif image and it will work.

Hello
First, I'd like you to forgive me if the question is a bit irritating - it irritatedme personally -.
Now:
I have a program that should read -and only read- Adobe acrobat files -for example-, even if Adobe Acrobat reader wasn't installed on the user's machine. I tried to achive this using ActiveX supplied by Adobe, but of course it didn't work.
I tried to make a setup project and register the ActiveX as isolated -stupid isn't it? -, again it didn't work.
Important note is that I don't want to use 3rd party COM objects.
Is it possible??
if(Possible)
{
return "How?";
}
else
{
return "Thank you anyway for reading";
}
I'm not that expert in COMand activeX objects. Yet I can do my homework. I just need a push in the right direction.
Any ideas, articles, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated.
Regards.

Thank stancrm.
But that wasn't what I was looking for. With this article I still need the program already installed on the user's machine, otherwise it won't work.
Thanks again.

How about Enterprise Library 2.0? Or is it too heavyweight for you?

There are versions for .NET 1.1 and 2.0. I've downloaded the .NET 1.1 version but haven't had the chance to delve much into it though. But I notice they have a Security Application Block.

Hi,
I am making windows app using C#.
In this app if i drag a form to any location and click a button on that form that displays a message box,message box always appears center screen and not on center of form that has been dragged.It looks very odd.
How can I make message box to always appear on center of form irrespective of position of form.
Regards,
Amit

The first parameter passed to MessageBox.Show can be any implementor of IWin32Window , which includes a Form , a Control etc. If you pass a reference to your form to this, the MessageBox will show up on top of that form/control

Its looks like you cannot change this behavior of MessageBox. One solution is to derive your own MessageForm class from Form to display your message. Then call its ShowDialog method to show it after you set its Size, Location and StartPosition properties. (If you don't set the StartPosition , then the Location is ignored.) One of the values for StartPosition is CenterParent which would center your new MessageForm.
