It's perfectly fine to use hex too. And windows charmap utility uses hex Unicode codepoints, so putting the entities in hex helps to map back to charmap.

Right. I found a wikipedia article that said that it was decimal, and I looked at several lists of character entities without seing any hexadecimal. When you said that they could use hexadecimal, I made a specific seach on that, and found that you are right.
They are written differently, though:
bstr += '&#x' + tstr.charCodeAt(i).toString(16) + ';';

ok.. I'm not sure what to google for here, I think "referrer" info is what I'm looking for, but that just turns up a bunch of spam-related stuff... Anyway, I have an internal website and I want to track where people are coming from. Do I have to manually set the referrer info in the links I give out, or is that info tacked on automatically? And how could I recognize and use that info on my end?
Any links/suggestions?

First and foremost, what stats are you looking to track? Just where the visitor came from?

Well, you're right about the name. You don't need to do anything with the links, but rather to track people's origin, on the page you want to know where they came from (say an article) you'll need to read the HTTP_REFERER environment variable.
Depending on which web technology you use, there could be one of several ways to get it.

you could implement a stats-counter which will give you some nice reports. Eg. http://www.web-stat.com[^].
If you track it yourself you can pull out the host, search phrase etc. from the full URL.

If you're using IIS, you can record this info in the log files - you can choose what info in the properties of the website. Then you can just parse the logs.

IMO http://www.google.com/analytics/[^] is much better than statcounter.com and is completely free. I've used both and I like Google the best. Statcounter is free but you only get a small amount of logging. You can only go back like 100 page views unless you are willing to pay for more. Analytic's saves all your data forever and you can easily import the reports. Although if you are on an a secure intranet, you might have to use some other tracking software.

Yep, by invitation only, but you have to request an invite. Mine took about 6 months, but a co-worker requested an invite a couple weeks ago, and he got his invite the next day.

Hi
I am using Atlas control toolkit and found this big problem with Drag panel.
I was trying to use the Drag Panel in one of my page which also contains some drop down lists. When I Drag the drag panel on the dropdownlist (I am using IE) I see the dropdownlist above the drag panel.
This behaviour is only taking place in IE and not in firefox. I do not know the real reason of this problem but this is making life difficult for me.
* Does any one know how to solve this problem?
* Can this be solved?
I wanted to use this feature in a new site which will be live in a few weeks.

Basically, you're screwed.
Atlas uses movable Divs to implement D&D - which exist in "layers". You can force a div to a higher layer by tweaking it's z-index attrib (or z-order, can never remember). This applies to all HTML controls......except that the DDL is implemented not as a HTML ctrl, but as a WINDOW - which always exists in front of everything else.
The only way around it would be to hide the ddls and re-instate when dropping, but this looks naff

Hello there,
I am developing a CMS Software using MSHTML for about three years, and I get this behavior since I started using MSHTML.
Please excuse that I write such a big text but I think I can't express this in a shorter way.
The text pages are solely using the TiresiasScreenfont, the user has no option to change the font (this is mainly due to restrictions on the target platform).
Now sometimes, the font changes to Times within a line and back to Tiresias in the next line. I have also seen lines of text where the upper half of the line is in times and the lower half in Tiresias, which really looks terribly.
The only solution is to cut the complete content of the page, paste it into notepad and copy and paste it back again so that default formatting is applied.
The behavior occurs somehow randomly but has always something to do with the text - e.g. overlapping font tags in connection with German umlauts, like <font color="#CCCCCC>Hauptmenü<font color="#EEEEEE"> / </font><font color="FF6666"> Information</font></font>. (Here, the Renderer seems to switch to Times at the word Information)
I use a derivate of CHtmlEditView with two DocHoistUIHandler interfaces which I use to prevent the user from making not allowed changes (i.e. inserting more than one picture per page).
I assume that the problem is either with the MSHTML editing control or with the Tiresias font.
Has anybody experienced something like that?
Here's a screenshot of the editing area: http://www.leoloewe.net/cp-screenshot.gif[^]
Would be nice if somebody with more experience would answer my post...
Thanks in advance,
Leo

P.S. As the behavior doesn't occur with any other font, I assume that the Tiresias is responsible for that. If somebody read this, please don't use the quite expensive Tiresias ($17000 each) fonts in your projects if you plan using MSHTML.

I experienced a strange behavior with overlapping tags. I use the IMarkupServices interface with IMarkupPointer to parse a document and display the "class" attribute of the currently selected <font> tag, if any (just like Winword displays the style of the current selection).
When I parse the following code (after selecting the text portion marked green in the view), strange things happen:
some text<font color="darkgreen"><font class="g3">Normal<font class="g4">Big</font>Normal</font></font>some other text<br />
The IMarkupPointer pHtmlStart starts at the right point, but when it moves on after looping once and successfully retrieving the "class" attribute, pHtmlStart->CurrentScope returns a NULL element and seems to have gotten RIGHT of the pHtmlEnd pointer.
Due to this behavior, I cannot retrieve any other elements in the selection, thus I am not able to indicate "there are elements with different CLASS attributes in the selection.".
Has anybody experienced something like this? Or is there another solution to the problem? Anybody knows how FrontPage handles this? Or am I doing something totally wrong?
If anybody is interested I will post some code here to evaluate the behavior.
Thanks for reading.

hello,
I guess that there are several methods for doing this.
In fact, what you need to do is to make sure that the pop up is open. This can be done by setting a flag variable on the opener window when the pop up opens. this is not a very good solution.
What I would do would be to assign the pop up window to an object variable on the opener. all you need to do is to check if this variable is null after opening the pop up.
Hope this helps!

Yes, that sounds correct.
Do you feel that there is a problem with this?

You can use javascript. Copy the following and save it to an html file and try it out:
<html>
<head>
<script>
function ShowHideDivs(){
var cb = document.getElementById("cb")
var divone = document.getElementById("div1")
var divtwo = document.getElementById("div2")
if (cb.checked == true){
divone.style.visibility ="visible";
divone.style.display = "block";
divtwo.style.visibility ="hidden";
divtwo.style.display = "none";
}
else{
divtwo.style.visibility ="visible";
divtwo.style.display = "block";
divone.style.visibility ="hidden";
divone.style.display = "none";
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input id="cb" type="checkbox" onclick="ShowHideDivs();" />
<div id="div1">
Here is text inside div1.
</div>
<div id="div2">
Here is text inside div2.
</div>
</body>
The key is to what you are looking for is this part .style.display="none" / "block"
NOTE: The div tags won't show here since I used the code tag. Make sure you wrap div tags around the two sentences with ID=1 and ID=2 respectively.
