hi,
I have got an issue at hand related to security of the data stored in the data store... just wanted to ask if there is any EFFICIENT way to save your data file (encrypted or not) so that the user could not read or change the information stored in it, if the file is encrypted then every querry to data store will need a decrypting cycle and this will cause more and more delay when the size of data store will increase, cache is another option but it does not suits the requirements of the software that I am developing... is there any other means through which the security could be implemented...
Thanks,
Regards,
Waqas.

I've tried to sign my assemblies (http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/SecUtilexe.asp?df=100&forumid=256869&exp=0&select=1337472)but it is not working. I can use assemblies from any application. Is there another solution or things in 2.0 are different?

There's a reason why that article is rated so low. The technique doesn't work. It won't prevent anyone from reusing an assembly.
There are a few ways of doing it, but nothing documented.
The easiest would be to write your assembly so that it requires some kind of authentication before any of its members will work. Each classes constructor should check for proper authentication before it's code executes.

I am building a BHO that is meant to popup a IHtmlPopup window on a mouse over image event. All the code works fine if the image is in the main Window.
However if the image is in a frame then I get the following error:
{"Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"} System.Exception {System.UnauthorizedAccessException}
This happens when I try to create the Popup Window or access its Document
I have tried getting the parentWindow from the Frame's document and from teh main document.
<br />
IHTMLWindow4 parentWindow = (IHTMLWindow4)PageDocument.parentWindow;<br />
IHTMLPopup popUp = (IHTMLPopup)parentWindow.createPopup( ref argIn );<br />
IHTMLDocument2 popupDoc = (IHTMLDocument2)popUp.document;<br />
Any ideas?

Using javascript screen.x and screen.y will give the screen resolution which I think will solve your problem. If you want you can deliver different formatting based on different resolutions. The old school of thought was to design for 800x600 but now I think there is a larger target res.
Also, consider using well designed CSS as it is better to make a good layout than to hard code for every possible resolution. I mean what will happen when your users are accessing the webpage using a handheld?

i had inserted datetime values in databse using c#.using code like DateTime.now,now i want to comapte valus using betwwen operator of SQL
i.e where dbtime between '" + dtp1.value + "' AND '" + dtp2.value + "' but it does not show any record i think critera of where class did not match.
i had inserted in databse like '" + DateTime.now+ "'
how to compare them so that it show correct result

1> First,Check what kind of datatype you are using in database for this field.Make sure that the datatypes of the two in front end and back end are same.
2> If it is dateTime in the database then use
where dbtime between "+ #dtp1.value# +" AND "+ #dtp2.value# +" in the query string . instead of using
where dbtime between '" + dtp1.value + "' AND '" + dtp2.value + "'
i.e. You are trying to compare string type values. You should mot use
'"+ dtp1.value +"', instead you should use "+#dtp1.value#+".
also, you can use DateFormat function, if the format of the two dates are not same.
3>If you are using string type in database then you should not use dtp1.value.

it did not work her is more precise description
str="INSERT INTO tblHistoryLog(UserId,UserAction,TableName,ActionDate,TrDoneOn) VALUES('" + CheckValues.strUserId + "','NEW RECORD','USER TABLE','" + DateTime.Now + "','" + cmbTAUserId.Text + "')";
where ActionDate datatype if datetime.
i had inserted record in the table and inserted properly.
the query that uses the comparison
"SELECT * FROM tblHistoryLog WHERE (ActionDate BETWEEN #"+ dtpTo.Value +"# AND #"+ dtpFrom.Value +"#)"
but it gives the no result
i had tried to use this but it does not compile so i had to use above
"+ #dtpTo.Value# +" AND "+ #dtpFrom.Value# +"

It looks as if you are passing an SQL string. I am one of those freaks that insist on SP. Also you can make a command object with your query string and include parameters as in:
sqlString = "SELECT * FROM customer WHERE creationDate BETWEEN @startDate AND @endDate";
Then you can append parameters to the command and execute it.
(btw, don't quote me on this I am not on a machine with a devel environment write now or I would have posted compilable code)
