Good one. And you can use NGen to pre JIT, or so I read, never tried it myself.

MCPSAT32 wrote: Can any body tell my where it exactly taking time to load for the first time
Exactly? You are kidding right?
One wild guess would be that you are not creating the MySql connection until you load the child form. If so try loading it at application start-up, if that is the problem you should see the application take longer to load but the first child form should load faster.
Another wild guess is that the child form references several assemblies that are not loaded until the first child form is loaded but 5 seconds seems a bit extreme.
I am out of guesses for now.

1. How do you retrive data? If you use select directly from database tables then it is better to create views or stored procedures and select data from them using sql-command parameters. In this case server will already have compiled queries even at the firs time.
2. Look at this article[^]. It may help you.

Well, it depends on how things are set up. SMS messages don't just arrive at your USB port. They arrive at some bit of equipment you plug into your USB port, and how you talk to that will depend on the protocol/drivers (if there any).
You should consult the manual of the thing you plug in to determine how to talk to it - it may just be a standard serial stream.

Note: everything below applies to Visual Studio 2003 using c# and windows forms.
I have an application that allows the user to enter an alarm, it's added to a list and saved to a file and the alarm is fired when it's appropriate. I've got a system tray icon which allows them to either close the program or show the form. They have an option on the form to send it to the systray so that it's essentially "hidden." That works just fine.
However, I want to give them an option to automatically send it to the system tray on startup. I got it to work where it will minimize the form, but that's not right. I want to get the Hide() or visible = false instead as that will remove the window completely. Anyone know of a way to get this to work? I've tried everything that I can think of but can't get it to work right.

HI,
Set the ShowInTaskBar property of the form False
and set the .Visible property to false.
This should do ur work.

This unfortunately won't work on startup.

My Windows Service installes great except I need to manually change the LogOn account to an Administrator to get it to cooperate with my Windows App.
Q. Anyone know how to programmatically install a Windows service with LogOn as Administrator?

If you need to start a process with different credentials, and you know the credentials, you can use System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo.UserName and System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo.Password. You can start a process using the System.Diagnostics.Process class.
If you don't know the administrator credentials, you cannot run the process as administrator, as it would defeat the purpose of limited user accounts.
A better solution would be to discover why your service doesn't work as a limited user. Most apps can work under a limited user account...is there a valid reason it requires an administrator account to function properly?

I am using a richtextbox and when ther user uploads content from the rich textbox onto my server, I want to save that html as a word file. Thus, I need to be able to take arbitrary html and write it into word.
I have all the assemblies installed, and know that i could go line by line through the html and write into word. However, I was wondering if there is a quicker, easier way to do so.

I am using datagridview in .net 2.0
I have a datagridview which I initially do not allow the users to AddNew. However, the user can add a new record by pressing the button. This works fine. In the case the user would like to cancel their action, how do I remove the new record from the datagridview?

Does anyone know how to do a hover on a button that displays what the button does like the toolbar does with the text property.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Hook up the mouse hover event of the button and add a tool-tip.
Sample code:
hook up the event -
this.button1.MouseHover += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_MouseHover);
define the handler -
private void button1_MouseHover(object sender, System.EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
ToolTip obTool = new ToolTip();<br />
obTool.SetToolTip( button1, "This would Cancel the form");<br />
}
|
|
|
|
|
You'd have to add a tooltip control and tie it to the button - you can set the text and all that on the tooltip control.
