I have an Excel worksheet, where I included a query (using Get External Data function) this query is an Access query that obtains data from an Oracle DB, I made a VB program and as soon as I refresh the query it asking me for the Oracle user and password (that is fine) , My question is... is there a way to suppress the user-password requirement durin the refresh (or how can I mix the connection strings access and oracle to add the UID/PWD from oracle in it)?
Kind Regards.

Why not make life simpler by having your VB program run the query against Oracle? Sounds like you have alot of interaction between too many different programs

In Visual Studio 2003 or 2005, the tab control has a property called Right To Left that you can set. I don't know about VB6

Hello There
I have one Graph control lying on Tab Control. what I want is to take the picture of that control as I need to place that picture on report.
Note: It might be possible that Tab page which contains this control is not selected.

I am trying to refresh myself in VB and we just upgraded to .NET 2005. Previously in VB if you had a true boolean it converted it to a 1 when passed to other languages. Is this still true?
Is there a good reference site/article that highlights new changes for VB2005?
Thanks!

try this[^]. it's a series of articles comparing differences between VB6 and .NET. It's for .NET Framework 1.1 tho... hope it points you in the right direction.

As said those are not built into the framework. But why not use the search function on CP?
drive combobox[^]
folder tree[^]
file listbox[^]
explorer treeview[^]
Look through the results. There are so many examples on it - at least one of them should fit your needs.

This is not right, you can still use these controls:
(1) Right click on the toolbox and select choose items
(2)Scroll down to the letter "d" area in the ".net framework components" tab and find those controls you ar searching for.
(3) Tick the check boxes beside the controls and click ok.
You could populate the list manually but this is time consuming and unnecessary if the controls are already available.

I have written a small program with VB.NET 2005 and wish to run it from a networked drive.
It works ok locally but I get a security error when running from a network drive.
On .NET Framework 1.1 I simply adjusted the Runtime Security Policy in the .NET Configuration utility
So how do I assign rights to a .NET v2 assembly?
Thanks

By default a Service will not display anything on a visible desktop so what you are seeing (or not seeing even) is normal.
You really should not have ANY user interface within a service as typically a user will not be around to click on any button that may require input, thus hanging your application.
You could if you really need to, enable the "interaction with desktop" flag in the Services control application.
Go to 'START | Run', type in 'services.msc', select your service from the list, right click and choose 'properties' from the menu. Go to the 'Log On' tab and choose 'Local System Account' and then check the 'Allow service to interact with desktop' box.
But don't be surprised if it hangs on a customers PC...

Hi Leelanga,
Glad that helped.
As for displaying the messagebox before login, I have never looked into that, it may be that a device driver is used to load a GUI application, but that is a guess.
If BioLogin has a website (I couldn't find one), then you may be able to work out how they do it by downloading a copy of BioLogin and using the tools from SysInternals.com to investigate.
Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Hi all,
One question for all of you!
How to set Shortcut keys for LinkLabels on TaskPane (also for infragistic task pane)?
Using Mnemonics is in vain ... please suggest some other ways or work arounds!
On task pane, only buttons and textboxes responds to the shortcut keys. But not the labels and LinkLabels.
Please suggest the way if you can do this. You can mail me on below specified id.

The on leave event of a tab contains a number of conditions. If they are not met I would like the leave event to halt and for the current control (a tab on a form) not to loose focus. However "exit sub" just stops executing the remaining code but still moves to the next control
Is there another command I can use or is there another event that is triggered when I go to leave the tab that would allow a cancel option, and not proceed to the next page?
many thanks
Kerrie
Private Sub tbpDealEntry_Leave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles tbpDealEntry.Leave
If something <> something else
'Stop on the current tab, do not proceed to the next control
Exit Sub
End If
End Sub

I had a sort of similar situation in a Smart Device application. I used the tab controls selected index changed event. If I didn't want the page to change, I just set the tab controls selected index back to the page it was moving from (I had a global variable that kept track of which tab page I was on). It wasn't very smooth, but it worked. So maybe you can get some ideas from that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
