Hi
This is my first ever post to a forum!
I have been given the job of downloading a text file from a website using a windows forms application (will later probably turn it into a windows service). This is pretty easy and u can do it in two lines of code using the Webclient class.
BUT the problem is, I need to go to a webpage, then logon, which redirects me to another webpage, then click on the file i wish to download to download it.
I don't know where to begin! Is this possible? What classes should I be using to achieve this?
Thanks for you help in advance.

Hi, I want to display values in datagridview columns as "0.00%". I am able to display the values but I can also type the characters. This should not be allowed, I want that the user should not be able to type in characters.
If I do something like this:
datagridviewCOL.DefaultCellStyle.Format = "N2"
The above doesn't help .
Can anyone please let me know?
Thanks!

Hi!
I'm having a very disturbing problem.
I'm working in a program witch has several forms (windows forms)
When I add a form to the project I can invoke that form from a menu (for
instance)
The problem is that as I start working in the form (adding controls,
formatting then, etc) suddenly the form is no longer recognized and when
invoked I got an error "Type frmForm1 is not defined"
In this particular form I'm adding GroupBoxes, CheckBoxes, TextBoxes and
Labels.
I'm using VB .Net 2003
Can anyone help please? I'm tired of repeating the work all over again.
TIA

When you rename the form do you rename it in the solution box and takeaway the extesnion.
i.e.
rename from "Form1.vb" to "frmForm1" removing the ".vb" and clickiing yes to the message box. If so, the ".vb" must be on the end or as the message says, "the form may become unusable"

Hi John!
Thanks for the reply.
Answering to your question… The problem was not on the creation of the form. It was correctly created and I was able to work with it for a while until its reference was not found any more.
But I already found the problem… While working in the form (applying controls, formatting them, renaming them, etc…). I accidentally renamed the form instead of the control I wanted to rename… And of course the reference to its previous name was lost… And I started everything with a new form and it happened again and so on… For three or four times before I posted this message… What are the odds of a thing like that happen?

Does anyone knows how to configure .net runtime 1.1 to allow socket client to communicate with a socket server on a different machine ? Also, I have trouble from a socket client (on asp.net page) to connect to a socket server. I know that this is a security issue because I can get it to run on the same computer, even from client that is on asp.net page.

How do you programmatically click a button in a Webbrowser control?
I have found the HtmlElement instance for the button and tried using RaiseEvent("click") and RaiseEvent("Click"). They don't work.

I have just got into programming in Vb.Net 2005. I have previous experience with C and C++ and VB6. I have keen interest in doing sockets nowand my main aim is to make a chat client-like application. I have no previous knowledge of them. I just wanted to have a tutorial or some example programs on doing sockets with Vb.Net 2005 (framework: 2.0). If someone could recommend me a good book on this, that would be even better.
Thanks in advance...

Have you looked around on this site?

Thank you for replying Paul. Yes, I did look on the site and was able to find two source codes dealing with WinSocks in .Net. Also, I already have a chat client source code. However, since I don't know much about sockets, it is hard to understand them just like that. The ones I downloaded from here also contain some Assembly code which I have no idea about.

Thanks for replying. Could you also recommend me a good book for sockets with VB.Net?

I haven't read any books on sockets, but you might try doing a search on the topic on Amazon's website.

Here is the basic layout. Inside of a group box, I have a textbox. Outside of the groupbox, I have a command button. On load, the command button has focus. I have tinkered with the tab index to put focus on the textbox when the form loads, but to no avail. The only answer I have now is to disable the command button until I have text in the textbox, but I don't know if that will put focus on the textbox initially.
Ideas?!
Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but here is what I'd do. When you are designing the layout of your form, go to the file menu and select View - Tab Order. This makes these little blue boxes with numbers appear next to each control. The numbers show the tab order...but when you have a group box, you have sort of like sub tab orders. So you need to first let the designer know that the Groupbox is the first item to have focus, then the textbox, then the command button. To do this, click on each of the controls in that order (watch the numbers change as you do it). Then from the file menu select View - Tab Order again to shut off the tab order view. If you mess up, just shut off the tab order view and then start it up again.
