I'm not sure what you expect this to do. If you want to add to a starting date, there are two ways to do that, as follows:
Dim dt As DateTime = DateTime. Now
Dim dt2 As DateTime = New DateTime(dt.Year + 1, dt.Month, dt.Day)
Dim dt3 As DateTime = dt + New TimeSpan(365, 0, 0, 0)
You can call Convert.ToDateTime on your string that contains 1/1/2007, and there are numerous functions in a DateTime object to reformat it as a string.

Assuming it's a text file to start with, just read it all into memory, then look for chunks that are 2K in size, and save them off. Which bit are you needing help with ?

Hi all,
I am doing my Master's in Computing and Information Science. For my MS I need to do two projects. One related to web as a course so I am planning to do a project in ASP.NET 2.0 using C# or VB.net and other singletone C# or VB.net as Masters project. But I am thinking either to implement one means if I created web using C# then my master's project will be in VB.net or vice versa. I am new to the .net technology but I do have enough time to learn the technology and to code. About creating web site requirements are like database backend, high performance and not regarding online shopping as all other students did that. And for Masters req. project I am free to choose any topic. So I was just wondering can anyone please help me to finalizing the project topics specially for Masters. I dont want the code but a good project topic so that I can learn .net as well as it will be a good impression on my resume to get a job. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank You.

When are you going to finish your project? Have you consulted with your faculty members on your project?

paul, I didn't consulted with my faculty yet but planning to end with my both projects at the end of summer/fall 2008. I will be very thankful if you suggest some topic. Thank You.

I have this code in my vb.net program.
Me.TickersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.DataSet1.Tickers)
It fills the data from the external file fine. However, I'd like to be able to refill the data after it has been changed by an external program. Calling the line a second time doesn't work because I get "datareader already active on this command" error. How can I refill the data from the external file?

create another data adapter?

Sorry, that doesn't make sense to me. I have one dataset that I want to keep updated. The dataset can be updated by an external program. I would like to refresh the dataset by re-reading it periodically to reflect those external changes. This seems like it must be possible using only one data adapter. But maybe I'm missing something. thanks for your response!

first of all make a function to fill dataset .
then whenever u want to reload ur dataset , call ur function .
but dont forget to clear the table(Tickers) in which it is going to load b4 calling the function . i hope it might work for u .

hi,
i don't know if there is any way to do this but here is what i would like to do:
1. open an AVI file (which has just video data)
2. open a MP3 file
3. saving the two together as an AVI file
any suggestion, hints,..?? please!!!
thanks

I don't know about using an mp3 file directly, but you can use the program VirtualDub to merge an avi file with a wav file. Open the avi file and select the wav file to use for audio. Select Full Processing Mode for audio and select mp3 for audio compression. Select Direct Stream Copy for the video and save as a new avi file.

I know that, but i wanted to be able to do this within my program in VB.NET
there's the problem

You sound like you've never even seen this done before.
There is a LOT more to it than just copying two streams together. You have to make sure bit rates for both streams are correct and that you supply exactly that much information. Synching up the audio and video is difficult and KEEPING it synch'd harder!
There are some open source tools that do this very thing. Search SourceForge for a few. Take a look at their source code and you'll find out just how complex this project really is.

Hi all,
I am trying to move data from an access mdb file to mySQL using VB.NET.
I am re-designing the new schema on mySQL and want to move the access
data to mySQL.
I'm using mySQl 5.0 and the .NET connector. If anyone can point me to some sample code or give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it.
I tried experimenting with using mySQLDataAdapter but am getting "Conversion from String "fieldname" to type integer is not valid. "fieldname" is define as integer in the access db and "fieldname" is define as decimal in mySQL.
Thanks.

ShowWithoutActivation is a read-only property. You can set form’s TopMost property to True, if you like to show your form without activation.

I am getting this error when I run the program. I am not sure how to fix this error, if anybody can help me I will appreciate it. The program has two forms. Form1 has the search textbox and form2 takes the information from form1 and populates form2. I have attached the code for both forms, so you can see what I am talking about. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Form1 Code:

Form2.Initialize(Me, oForm2Data)<br />
<br />
Else<br />
