yes this is exactly happen what to do?

Then you have to show more of the code. Is it used inside a server control, like a repeater or something? Is there anything else that is removed in the produced code? Can you show the code that is produced?

Hi Everybody,
My PC have following things installed on it.
-.NET framework 1.1
- IIS 5.1
-.Net Visual studio 2003.
When I crate a new project of type 'ASP.NET Web Application', I receive
following error.
"The web server reported the following error when attemting to create or open the web project located at the following URL ://localhost/weapplication1; HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error".
After this no prject is created.
I checked if IIS is working or not by manually creating a directory in wwwroot folder, placing a single index.htm file inside it and then accessing that from web-browser by using URL as "http://localhost/DirectoryName". It is working fine.
Please see if anybody can help me out in this problem.
Regards,
Amol

You may need to re-register asp.net for IIS. I can't quite remember the syntax for this command though...
|
|
|
|
|
It May be the problem of your FireWall,
Plz see Is your fire wall has blocked this application?
|

since it is 500 error - it must something to do with coding. Could you un-check the option in IE browser, "Show Friendly error messages", it would then show the actual error message.
To register asp.net in iis
aspnet_regiis -i
You would need to traverse to that folder where this exist, meaning if 1.x framework need to run this from that location in dos prompt.
Hope that helps.
Thankss.

There are many alternate ways:-
I am not sure why that is not working. If you still want to show something on next page try one of the followings:-
1. I am not sure but on the next page FILE[] method will be available
2. Use Session Variables to store what you want in textbox
3. Added the variable to QueryString ?
4. Use database query to show information on next page.

hi,
As per the above your question 1. the next page what i have this below script
the action page:UploadDest.asp and the below script is the code which has and its working fine when i upload the image.
--- this script below i downloaded from google site -------
<%
response.buffer = true 'in my tests, this seems to increase speed a bit
set oUpload = server.createobject("ASPUpLoad.clsUpload")
'If nothing's entered, the .dll will save the file
'in the same path in which it resides, with the
'file name entered by the user
'THIS SAVES TO SAME DIRECTORY THE WEB PAGE IS IN
'MAKE SURE WEB USER HAS WRITE ACCESS
'TO THIS DIRECTORY (OR WHATEVER DIRECTORY YOU
'CHOOSE FOR SAVING). OTHERWISE, AN ERROR WILL OCCUR
oUpload.Path = Server.MapPath(".")
'Don't worry if user leaves FileName blank.
'the dll will just save it as the file
'selected.
if oUpload.Form("SaveAs") <> "" then
'get rid of any "\" chars, because we are
'setting path above. But you can set full
'path with this property to.
sSplit = split(oUpload.Form("SaveAs"), "\")
sFileName = sSplit(ubound(sSplit))
'if user has specified a file type
'use that, otherwise, we will just take what's
'given
if oUpload.Form("FileType") <> "Other" then
if instr(sFileName, ".") > 0 then
sSplit = split(sFileName, ".")
sFileName = sSplit(0) & "." & oUpload.Form("FileType")
else
'file type doesn't actually convert one file type to
'another. This is just used as an illustration
'of the Form Object.
sfileName = sFileName & "." & oUpload.Form("FileType")
end if
End if
oUpload.FileName = sFileName
End if
bAns = oUpload.Save
%>
<title>FreeVBCode.com ASP Upload Example
ASP Upload Results
<% if bAns = true then %>
The uploaded file was successfully saved to the host machine as <%= oUpload.Path & oUpload.FileName%>
In addition, the following information was obtained from the submitting form:
<% set objFormDetails = oUpload.FormDetails
lCount = objFormDetails.Count
for lCtr = 1 to lCount
Response.write "Key: " & objFormDetails.Key(lCtr) & " Value: " & objFormDetails.Item(lCtr) & " "
Next
%>
<% else %>
No file was saved due to the following reason: <%= oUpload.Error %>
<%
end if
set oUpload = nothing
%>
---------------------------- end of above script -----------------
But my main concern is how am i going to get the rest of the text content variables like as in this url : http://www.focus.com.sg/asp/addnews.asp to the above action page.
For the 2 point aslam , can u please say exactly how am i goin to use session variable on those pages. fyi, i have used the session variable on action page : UploadDest.asp as per the code below
<%
Session("title") = Request.Form("title")
Response.Write(Session("title"))
Response.End
then the rest of the as in the above script.
--------- if your clear enough help me how to use session variable and how to add the variable to querystring and you also mentiond on 4th point about the database query to show information on next page. give me some solutions

There is nothing in the Request.Form collection, as the upload component has already consumed the form data to get the uploaded file. You have to get the form data from the upload component. Most components have a Form collection for this purpose that works like Request.Form.

With ASPUpload, the .Form collection does not get populated until AFTER the .Save method has been called. So trying to reference it before will not return any results.
|
|
|
|
|
Correct. Considering the error message that the OP is getting, though, it appears that he either is not using ASPUpload, or has already called the Save method.
With ASPUpload, the data is available through Request.Form before the Save method is called. Of course, if the data is read using Request.Form, the Save method can't be used after that.
Some upload components handle the data automatically when they are created, other, like ASPUpload, handles the data upon a method call.

I would agree, but accoring to the previously posted script
(excerpt:
response.buffer = true 'in my tests, this seems to increase speed a bit
set oUpload = server.createobject("ASPUpLoad.clsUpload")
)
It looks like he is using ASPUpload. But noticing the comment right before
"--- this script below i downloaded from google site -------", I might have been assuming too much.
|
|
|
|
|
Current versions (3.x) of the AspUpload[^] component uses the progid "Persits.Upload". Perhaps he is using an old version (1.x?) of AspUpload?

Hello all,
I'm using a vb.net function to write some javascript to a literal control. That part works just fine. However, the javascript I'm writing is supposed to write the return value of a confirmation dialogue to a hidden input to reference later. I can reference the hidden input fine, but it always contains the default value - it seems that the javascript never writes to it.
Here's my hidden field and literal control:
<script type="text/javascript">
<asp:Literal id="ltAlert" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" />
</script>
<input id="hdnbox" type="hidden" value="hello!" runat="server" />
Here's my vb function:
Function GetConfirmation(ByVal strVerb As String) As Sring
ltAlert.Text = "document.getElementById('hdnbox').value = window.confirm('Are you sure you want to " & strVerb & " these requests?');"
Return hdnbox.Value.ToString()
End Function
It always returns "hello!", instead of the true or false that one would expect. It has to be something really tiny and stupid that I'm looking right over. Note I've also tried variations along the lines of
var answer = window.confirm("blah");
document.getElementById('hdnbox') = answer;
to no avail. Also worthy of note it seems to be returning the value before the user has had the chance to interact with the dialogue.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

abort, retry, fail?

Both of these seem to have errors, have you tried debugging through them:
Or try these:
document.getElementById('hdnbox').value = window.confirm('Are you sure you want to " & strVerb & " these requests?');"
or
var answer = window.confirm("blah");
document.getElementById('hdnbox').value = answer;

Do you expect the VB function to return anything other than the string "hello!"? That will never happen.
It's not something really tiny you have overlooked. You are apparently confused on the whole concept of how a web page is created on the server and handled in the browser.
First the source code for the page is created on the server. At this point the javascript code is just treated as text by the server. When the page is complete, the server code ends, and the pave is sent to the browser. The browser will then show the page and run the javascript.
Consider these two rules:
1. The server side code and the client side code never exist in the same place.
2. The server side code and the client side code never exist at the same time.
If you want to send anything back to the server, you have to send it in a new request, so that the server code is started again.

I am familiar with how to build and use web services using .NET. I recently saw some information on MSDN on how to get Data binding information from WSDL. Here is the URL for the article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/tour/vs2005_guided_tour/VS2005pro/Smart_Client/DisplayWebServiceData.htm
The website mentioned in Step 4 is not working, so I am unable to investigate this further. I have tried these steps on a web service that I created, and I cannot get the Data binding information in the Data Source in VS 2005.
Can someone explain how to get the binding information from the WSDL?
Thank you,
Tom

i made a simple an almost autocomplete
the aim is almost like an auto complete (typing in tin no text box)
when tin exists in db
it automatically loads the name of establishment in text box
of establishment and make it readonly else allow input.
in add mode i don't have a problem since the tin no textbox
initially has no value but when i am in
edit mode where i retrieved from the db the tin no to
tin no text box. what happens is when i type like another
existing tin no it works but when i use last tin no that was
retrieved from db that's when the error occurs
the text box of establishment returns the html codes of
the postback by ajax
the error returns potencial malicious blah blah
since it detects it as a potencial malicious blah blah
my alternative solution was if the postback value has more than
50 chars since establishment text box has maximum of 50 chars
i use a session variable instead
anybody has a solution to make it work on edit mode?
(when tin no text box is populated first at page load)
u may refer to this link which i posted at
http://www.codeproject.com/script/comments/forums.asp?forumid=1640&fr=26&select=1581253#xx1581253xx[^]

I don't quite understand what your whole problem is.
Perhaps if you write a more concise question you can get a better answer.
Regarding the "potential malicious" problem, ASP.Net by default checks that any user input does not contain HTML or scripts that may be dangerous.
To turn this off, you need to set ValidateRequest="false" on the <% Page %> attribute in your aspx file.
Hopefully this solves your problem.
