Hi,
Sandcastle should help you. There is even an article[^] here on CodeProject for it which features a rudimentary GUI for this command line tool.

Hi,
haven't tried it but are you sure it isn't possible to enable COM registration in the 2.0 dll and then use it from 1.1 via COM interop?

I haven't done it myself either, but I think this is correct...
His app will start and load the 1.1 framework, if available(!), or under the latest version installed. When his component is finally created, no matter what interface is used to call it, it'll try to load under the version of the framework that is already running. If the component isn't compatible with it, it'll fail. You can't load two different versions of the framework into the same process. His component will have to run as a remote component in its own process since you can run two versions side-by-side, but in different processes. This, of course, will also come with a performance hit because of the cross-process marshaling.

You are right. I didn't think of the restriction of only having one framework version within the same process.

I compiled my project against .NET1.1 and run it currently on .NET2.0, so i thought i can load some 2.0-dll's dynamicly...still in testing state...

ok, that does the job. i'm sure there are sometimes some compatibility isues in running my 1.1-App under 2.0 but this price i have to pay.
thanks guys

Can you put your 2.0 dll behind a web service?

You'll have to create a Custom Action in your installer to launch this other app. Just placing it in the application folder won't luanch it.
you can find out more on custom actions here[^].

Never heard of it.
The web site you posted goes to a parked page with a crappy search engine behind it. The real site for Genuine Channel is http://www.genuinechannels.com/[^], complete with Dicussion boards, Support, and a Knowledge Base.

A couple of questions:
Is there a way to turn off the auto-repeat for the keyboard when a key is held down?
I have a piano control that I'm writing, and I'd like to play it from the keyboard's keys. But if the key is held down, it starts auto-repeating, which has the effect of a piano key being played repeatedly instead of being held down.
Second question:
Is there a way for a control to get KeyDown events regardless of whether or not it has focus?
I want the piano control to be playable regardless of whether or not it has focus. What I've done so far is enable the preview property in the form that contains the piano control. It then passes on KeyDown and KeyUp events to the control. I'd like for the control to receive the events directly.

.NET VC++
the user will type three floats in the Console window, and the application will read in those three values and assign each to one variable.
i.e.
Console::WriteLine("Enter three values: ");
Console::Readline() gets whole text line......how to extract the three values from a String*?? Is there other way to read values in???

Parse the string into the component values. I assume there is some sort of delimiter between the values. For example, do you type them in like this?
1.1 2.2 3.3 If so, then you can Split the string on the space character.

All of the following code was generated using VS2005.
Could this be some sort of Xml compatibility issue between "desktop" and
"device application" run-time support in .Net 2.0?
I've got a VS2005 DLL that generates an event. The events passes a
System.Xml.XmlElement as a parameter on the event.
Next I created a C# desktop application that references the above DLL. As
the DLL generates the event the C# desktop application properly receives the
event along with the event's XmlElement parameter.
Finially, I tried creating a C# "Device Application" that referenced the
above DLL. After creating event handlers in the "Device Application" for the
DLL event, I tried to reference the System.Xml.XmlElement parameter from
within this event handler. When I compile the code I get the following error
message:
The type 'System.Xml.XmlElement' is defined in an assembly that is not
referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Xml,
Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c56193e089'.
I'm not sure why I'm getting this error because the C# "Device Application"
does have a reference to the requested version of "System.Xml". Specifically,
the "Device Application" references "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v2.0\WindowsCE\System.Xml.dll".
Looking into the problem a little further, I notice that the DLL also
references "System.Xml" (in order to generate the "System.Xml.XmlElement"
passed as the event parameter), but this version is different than the one
the "Device Application" compiler is complaining about. The DLL is using
version: "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.XML.dll".
Any ideas on how to deal with this problem would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Gurus,
Help!! This is what I am trying to do:
I have business objects that derive from a common base class. I have implemented my custom UITypeEditor (based on a TreeView) that lets edit these objects at design time. Visual Studio happily generates the code required to instantiate the tree hierarchy at run-time. So far so good. However, the variable names it assigns to these objects follows the pattern:
<type_name>[1,2,...n].
Examples: reportExporter1, reportExporter2...., logGenerator1, logGenerator2,.... etc.
I want the users to be able to specify variable names of their choice at design time. The easiest way would be to derive these classes from Component. However, I am NOT allowed to make them into components. So the question goes: Can a class instance have a Name property associated with it such that the Visual Studio Designer would use its value rather than generate its own default string for the name? If so, how?
I am using VS 2005.
Thanks a lot in advance!
-Kamran
