When I select menu item Help-->Search, enter a search string, the IDE displays a URL in the middle of the screen and the only way I can get rid of it is to shut down and restart the entire IDE. This is really starting to pi$$ me off!
Any way to change that "feature"?

its probably the way you have your browser set up.

there's no way in document explorer to explicitly set proxy. it's taking from internet explorer.
it's not asking for authentication.
however when im load a website in a new window inside the document explorer, it behaves as IE and works fine. but that credentials i have passed not taking in the search window

I wrote a service using sockets. I open and close a socket connection to a pop3 server at an interval of a minute or two. After a couple of hours I receive the following error
An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full.
Do you know where the problem is?
Thanks!

I am assuming you have no control over the backend server. I'd suggest taking a very close look at how you are closing the socket connection. It *sounds* like you are leaving something hanging and the backend server is simply running out of resources.
What is the exact socket error? Not the text, the #.

I remember a problem that I solved which is similar to this. You most probably are not closing the socket. Checkout if you are leaving out opened sockets.

hi!!
I am getting this linking error while porting code from VC6 to VC8!
fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'mfcs42.lib'
I googled and find out that, VC8 no longer uses mfc 4.2 and is currently using mfc 8. Also I found that there is no way i can compile this project using VC8.
Is there any way I can use my old project without recoding all again in VC8. Or else can the references in my code which are usiing this old library?? Is there any better sol'n to this problem?
Thx

|
Did you see msdn
From the MSDN
"The linker could not find filename because it does not exist or the path was not found."
|
|
|
|
|
yes i gone thru MSDN.
That is what i said mfcs42d is no longer available.
I need some solution.other tha recoding whole project
thx

1. are you explicitly linking to mfcs42*.lib ? that seems unusual, since the MFC libs are pulled-in via MFC/AFX headers - so if you're building an MFC project, you don't need to tell the linker anything about MFC libs. so, just compiling with a new version of MFC will get you the new .LIBs.
2. why do you say your app won't compile in VC8. what errors are you getting?

hi chris!!
I was explicitly linking to mfcs42d.lib. That was my orginal setting for VC6. There was no problem compiling the code using this setting.
When I tried compiling the code in VC8.It first gave me error stating mfcs42d.lib not found. I removed explicit reference for mfcs42d.lib from Linker>input>Additional dependencies. But now I am getting error as
mfcs80.lib(dllmodul.obj) : error LNK2005: _DllMain@12 already defined in MSVCRT.lib(dllmain.obj)
Again I think it is conflictiong with new MFC8.
Thx

hi!
I am linking explicitly to mfc80.lib instead of mfc42.lib.
That solved my problem!
Hope that's rignt thing I am doing.
Thx!!

Hi,
I want to dynamicaly load text from an generic data container into a TextBox (Windows Form). How do I put the text/data into the TextBox?
Cheers
/Christoffer
|
|
|
|
|
Are you able to read the data? if Yes
Use SetWindowText() to set the data in the text box.
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

Hi,
Thanx for replying.
I do not understand what you mean. Which namespace holds this method? I do understand that the method takes an id to the form it´s suppose to set text to and the text parameter. But I do not no how to implement it. I would be grateful if you could give me a clearer explanation.
cheers

like this
m_edit.SetWinodText(values);
|
|
|
|
|
Thanx for your reply.
Kind of embarrassed right now...
m_edit is the name of the TextBox? What am I missing here?
If the id of the TextBox is idTextBox how do I apply the SetWindowText method on it?
cheers

hey, are you using MFC ?
it seems that you are using Managed C++ (for the .NET framework).
it seems also that you should teach yourself to the basics of C++
|
|
|
|
|
I think TextBox is CLI/C++ and m_edit is CEdit m_edit in MFC you can use m_edit.SetWindowText(values);
