Problem
Keep data about customers, accounts and managers on a access database
Customers are identified by a unique 8 character identifier
Table Customers
customerID char(8) (key field)
customerSurname varchar
customerForeNames varchar
customers can have lots of accounts. Accounts are identified by a automatically generated integer. Each account has a pin of exactly 4 digits. There is also a field called blocked whose value determines weather or not a customer can perform transaction on that account. A value of 1 means that the account is blocked.
Table Accounts
accountID int (key field)
customerID char(8)
balance money
blocked bit (default value 0 for false)
PIN char(4)
Information on bank workers stored in another table
Table managers
managerID char(8)
password char(10)
program should allow managers to log in by entering managerID and matching password. If login successful new screen that allows him/her to add new customers, accounts for existing customers and block accounts.
Form that simulates a cash dispenser. A customer should be able to enter accountID and associated PIN via a numeric keypad. Program must check to see if the account is valid and the accounted and PIN match. If allowed the customer should be presented with a form that allows him/her to check their balance, make a withdrawal or change PIN. If accountID is invalid customer should be informed of a error message. If the accountID is valid and the PIN does not match the customer get another 2 attempts but if the PIN is incorrect after the 3 attempts the account is blocked.

First off, this is a homework assignment. Your supposed to be doing the work yourself and as such, noone here will write the code for you.
Next, what are you having a problem with? We need a specific problem your having...

I want to display splash screen in vb.net
i used timer on form when its tick method invoked i written
dim f2 as new form
f2.show()
me.close
but it is closing complete application
i tryed more then 5 diff. ways for that but its not working
pls give me simple logic

Go to the Projects properties, in application settings you will find an option as to whether you want the program close when first form closes or last form closes, set that to when last form closes.
In code:
Dim F2 as new system.windows.forms
F2.Size.X = 200 ' or whatever you want
F2.Size.Y = 200 ' or whatever you want
' other form properties
controls.add(F2)
me.close
It is important to add the form to the controls so that the framework can register it and work with it.

no you didn't understand my problem.
its not working.
even there is no option in project property that you are saying.
i want splash screen which one display for 5 seconds at the start up of the project and then close and open the login form after closing itself.

All you have to do is search the Articles for "splash screen" and you'll find plenty of examples. See the "Search bar" just below the green menu bar?? That's where you'll find your answer.

i written code but its not working

What do you mean by "not working"? Do you get any exceptions? I have a suspicion that your not loading the picture correctly. You might want to try this:
Dim newImage As New Bitmap(dlgopen.FileName)

Hi,
Any one suggest me how to unlock the locked session in POP3 server due to improper shut down.
I am trying to access the mail from the mail server using vb.net, while runing the programe due to some error my application closed with out the closing the session. Due to this i cant able to login in my account. How to clear the session.

If you don't have control of the server, you can't. You have to wait for the session to timeout. If you do have control of the server, go into it's Management console and clear the connection in there. How you do that depends entirely on your mail server, so noone can tell you exactly how to do it.
Can you do this programmatically? No...

I am getting this error when i am trying to publish my application. With this another error is "Cannot publish because a project failed to build."
Where as i am able to build the application and run it.

I need to open a folder in somewhere using some key choosen throw the form, if I used an OpenFileDialog, it will go to that folder and open it showing its contents of files...it is ok. But I need to access those files in that folder using a ComboBox or abnother control rather than the OpenFileDialog..
Is there any suggestions or ideas.

So if you already know the location of the folder, of which you want to fill the files, then just iterate through the files collection of the directory object and fill the combo box with the names of the files. You can use foreach statement for this.

Thats what i have told you. Read the folder contents using the Files collection and populate the combo with file names.
If i havent got ur point still, please explain giving an example of from where to pick file names and what information will come from form ,etc....

Please guide me in the following scenario
I am developing c#/VB application using Visual Studio 2005. I want that when the user executes my application then:
1- The window should create a new Virtual desktop using MSVD.
2- My application should run in the new desktop. Only my application should be allowed to run.
3- I should have the options to modify the start menu in the new virtual desktop
4- When user close application the virtual desktop should shutdown
How can I achieve this?

Hi all,
Im doing a project in VB.Net and im drawing the lines and rectangle on mouse down event of a label or picture box. And im checking it for redraw..
My question is, Which is the the best way?
1. Loading the image(with cross lines with same text as before) at runtime after clicking the label control or picture box dynamically.
2. Drawing a cross lines on the label or picture box on mouse down..
Which performance will be better, I found that when the form get restored it took some time to load when i use drawing.
Please guide me as its very urgent.

You need to ditch the picture box, handle the Paint event, and draw the lines direct onto the screen.
