My application exports data in HTML. I would like to include a header with a logo (gif). I don't want any references to external image files. I want the image to be fully contained within the HTML file. Is this possible?

There is. Read more about Data URIs. IE does not support them, though

I am having terrible troubles at work trying to insert a parameter from a FORM into the Datagrid SELECT statement in ASP. I have searched MSDN knowledgebase, read and used examples, and am still having troubles.
Some details: I'm using the drag and drop method of inserting data from Visual Studio 2005 Database Connections from the table. I am using SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 with .NET 2.0. I can get the data to display in the datagrids STATICALLY, but I need them to display dynamically using a parameter passed from the FORM control.
Some example code:
http://www.campus.ncl.ac.uk/databases/dotnet/aspdotnet2.html[^]
The only thing I need is for the code to have a FORM to enter a string or data and a datagrid that uses that parameter from the FORM inserted in the SELECT statement of the datagrid.

I have a web cam that uploads jpg images that my page displays (the page reloads every few seconds to show the newest image. The page code I use is a slightly modified version of what came with the web cam. I turn the camera off at times and would like to have an animated gif file displayed at those times instead of the last jpg uploaded. I figure I'll write a small program will shutdown the camera software and delete the jpg from the web site.
I need the page to show the jpg if it exists and if not show the gif. This is on Road Runner's personal web sites so I can't do anything too fancy like server side scripting. But I can put a client side java script in it. If anyone can someone tell me how to do this or point me to some examples I would appreciate it.
Perhaps a if else construct I could put in the html? If 01.jpg exists then this html code else some other html code.
Thanks,
JABOSL

How do websites that have the 'enter your zip code to find the nearest distributor.....' work? I'm drawing some blanks on what to search for. Was asked how hard it would be to implement something like that.
Any general information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure exactly, but it might be something like calling a web service (or paying for some kind of GIS database) to get the approximate map co-ordinates for the zip code and then comparing that with a list of the map co-ords for their distribution points.
Essentially not difficult, but may require payment for some kind of reliable GIS service.

There three seperate div tags in my HTML page.
Each div tag contains one flash object.
Using each flash object i am loading 3 different charts(Bar,line,colum)
And there are 3 image buttons to switch between charts.
When first Button is clicked "My Bar chart" will be loaded and iam hiding other two.
Similary if the second button is clicked the the "My Line Chart " is loaded and so on.
Input to my chart is an XML.
<set value="30.632803460417832" link="JavaScript:move(2);">
Using the above format javascript function move(2) is called.
It will refresh the chart with another set of data.
If view is switched between the Line Chart and the bar Chart, the chart was loading but my javascript function was not activated.

There is a part of a web-text:
<asp:Table ID="Table1" runat="server" Height="112px" Width="639px" Visible="False">
<asp:TableRow runat="server" HorizontalAlign="Center">
<asp:TableCell runat="server"><asp:Label ID="LabelRecordNumber01" runat="server" Text="Запись №" Width="78px"></asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxRecordNumber01" runat="server" ReadOnly="True" Width="50px"></asp:TextBox>
</asp:TableCell>
<asp:TableCell runat="server">
<asp:Label ID="Label19" runat="server" Text="от 2006/08/13" Width="177px"></asp:Label>
</asp:TableCell>
</asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableRow runat="server" HorizontalAlign="Center">
<asp:TableCell runat="server" BorderColor="Turquoise" BorderStyle="Solid" Width="180px">
<asp:Label ID="Label4" runat="server" Text="John Ponton" Width="172px" Font-Size="Large"></asp:Label><br />
<asp:Label ID="Label9" runat="server" Text="John@gmail.com" Width="172px"></asp:Label>
</asp:TableCell>
<asp:TableCell runat="server" Width="440px">
<textarea cols="1" rows="1" readonly="readonly" id="TextareaMessage01" style="width: 436px; height: 129px"></textarea><br />
<asp:Label ID="Label14" runat="server" Text="Ответ от 2006/08/12" Width="151px"></asp:Label><br />
<textarea cols="1" rows="1" readonly="readonly" id="TextareaAnswer01" style="width: 436px; height: 99px"></textarea>
</asp:TableCell>
</asp:TableRow>
</asp:Table>
I need in my program to assign text value to the TextareaMessage01. I'd like to do:
TextareaMessage01.Text= "Birds are flying";
but VS-2005 doesn't understand this way.
I guess, the answer is around like this:
Table1.Rows[0].Cells[0] ... ???
but what - I do not know. Help, please!

Use an <asp:textbox> element rather than a HTML TextArea

You need to set the runat="server" property in the element so that a server control is created for it. Otherwise the html code for the element is just treated as plain text by the server.

Hi,
I hope that someone can help as I have been going round in circles with this one.
I have two sites - lets call them site A and site B.
In site A I have links to site B which call some asp code to save details about the users of site A. To do this I have a javascript script on site A which calls an asp page on site B and then this page calls another page on site B which saves data to the database. Hope you follow me here as I am tired
Anyway in the last page I am creating a cookie and storing some information so that the next time the user calls the page on site A I can tell that he has already visited.
Now here is the problem. I can tell from my code that the page on site B (the last page to get called) is running the code to create the cookie but it is being destroyed once the call to this page has been completed. This is the issue as I am setting the cookie as below which should not expire for a year. Please see example code below
Response.Cookies("SiteB")= rnd(1000)
Response.Cookies("SiteB")("UserIP") = cstr(Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR"))
Response.Cookies("SiteB")("DateOfFirstVisit") = date()
Response.Cookies("SiteB")("DateOfLastVisit") = date()
Response.Cookies("SiteB").Domain = ".SiteB.com"
Response.Cookies("SiteB").Expires = Date() + 365
This is now where my desperate plea for help comes in. Anyone who could shed some light on this would be a life saver as I have tried everything that I can think of - note that I am sure IIS is not causing this as I have tried various different settings.
Regards,
Gregor

You can only access the cookie from site B, not from site A. Each web site have their own set of cookies.

I'm using prompt window with javascript in an ASP.NET application.(.net 2.0). I have to problem with it:
1- How to edit Text of buttons in that window.
2- When I click on both Ok and Cansel button the prompt window return the string in the textbox but I think it shouldn't do it or at least how can I find out which button is clicked by user.
Thanks.

You can't.
2- When I click on both Ok and Cansel button the prompt window return the string in the textbox
No, it doesn't. If you press Cancel, it returns null.

If you have something to contribute, write an article instead of posting a bunch of undocumented code in the forum.
I looked a bit at your code, though, and I have some comments:
:: Your variable names are not very descriptive.
:: Your code should be indented: It's quite hard to follow as it is.
:: Why do you duplicate the code in Page_Load and btnLogin_Click?
:: Request.Browser.Cookies doesn't tell if the browser accepts cookies, it only tells if the browser is capable of accepting cookies.
:: Why on earth do you store the connection string in a session variable?
:: Your code is wide open for an SQL injection attack.
:: Why are you assigning string values to boolean variables, and why are you comparing boolean variables to strings?
:: You have Else If statements that checks the exact inverse of the If statement. That adds only confusion over a plain Else statement.
