When I use get files function, ie:

Is it possible to have more than one search pattern? e.g.(as oppose to just .jpg image files, how would i 'get' .jpg and .bmp and .gif and .png)
thanx in advance

No, you can only have one search pattern.
You can make one search for each pattern, or you could get all files and filter them yourself.

In .NET 2.0 you can seach subfolders. Example:
Dim files as String()<br />
files = Directory.GetFiles("d:\images\", "*.jpg", SearchOption.AllDirectories)
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

I recently created a program that gets all the files of a certain format from a directory then adds them to a combobox, the user could then select the file they wanted, using this info, on what they had selected, i was able to use the file because i knew it's directory, name and format.
If u want to fill a combobox using a similar method do this. (keep in mind, i was searching for images and removing the .jpg from the end of the image names)
Browse is a folder browser dialog. comSelect is a combobox on my form.
Using a browse button the user chose a folder and then clicked ok, my program then use this info to get all the .jpg files from that folder and added each to a combobox
If Browse.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
Dim Di As New System.IO.DirectoryInfo(Browse.SelectedPath)
Dim Img As System.IO.FileInfo
Dim Holder
Dim Holder2
For Each Img In Di.GetFiles("*.jpg")
Holder = Img.Name.IndexOf(".")
Holder2 = Img.Name.Remove(Holder, 4)
Me.comSelect.Items.Add(Holder2)
Next
End If
You should be able to adjust this for next statement to your own needs.

Okay, this is pretty complicated so let me see if I can try to explain my problem.
First I have an enumeration:
Enum BracingMemberTypes As Integer<br />
FirstItem = 0<br />
Diagonal = 0<br />
Horizontal = 1<br />
Internal = 2<br />
SubDiagonal = 3<br />
SubHorizontal = 4<br />
SubInternal = 5<br />
TopDiagonal = 6<br />
BottomDiagonal = 7<br />
TopSubHorizontal = 8<br />
BottomSubHorizontal = 9<br />
LastItem = 9<br />
End Enum
I have a file called clsSection with this declaration:
Protected m_BracingMembers As New clsBracingMemberDictionary
In the same file I also have some properties. I'll only show a couple:
ReadOnly Property Diag() As clsBracingMember<br />
Get<br />
<br />
'10-Aug-2006 Changed to use the dictionary LLS (1 of 10)<br />
If m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.Diagonal) Is Nothing Then<br />
m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.Diagonal) = New clsBracingMember(Me, BracingMemberTypes.Diagonal)<br />
<br />
End If<br />
Return m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.Diagonal)<br />
End Get<br />
End Property<br />
<br />
ReadOnly Property TopDiag() As clsBracingMember<br />
Get<br />
'10-Aug-2006 Changed to use the dictionary LLS (2 of 10)<br />
If m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.TopDiagonal) Is Nothing Then<br />
m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.TopDiagonal) = New clsBracingMember(Me, BracingMemberTypes.TopDiagonal)<br />
End If<br />
Return m_BracingMembers(BracingMemberTypes.TopDiagonal)<br />
End Get<br />
End Property
I need to create a copy function so I can have two objects and compare them. This is what I have thus far:
For i As Integer = BracingMemberTypes.FirstItem To BracingMemberTypes.LastItem<br />
If Not .BracingMembers(i) Is Nothing Then<br />
m_BracingMembers(i).Copy(.BracingMembers(i))<br />
<br />
End If
Next
Basically what I am doing is looking up the bracing information. There are different bracing configurations such as X. The problem is that in the X bracing, some of the types of the enumeration do not exist. It has a diagonal (0), horizontal (1) but once it gets to internal (2) I get the null reference object error which makes sense.
This is not my code, my boss wanted me to change the code using a dictionary object.
Any ideas how to fix this short of using if statements based on the bracing configuration?
Is there a real benefit to using dictionaries? (VB programming dictionaries before the jokes come in.)

Hello evreyone,
Is anyone could tell me what's wrong with code snippet. I get an error in vb.net 2005:
<br />

Public Class LockableDataObject<br />

<br />
Inherits LockableDataObject<br />
<br />
End Class<br />
<br />
<br />
Public Class LockableDataManager(Of CustomType As LockableDataObject)<br />
<br />
End Class<br />
<br />
<br />
Public Class BusinessManager<br />
<br />
Inherits LockableDataManager(Of Business)<br />
<br />
End Class<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Module main <br />
<br />
Public Sub main() <br />
<br />
'This line works<br />
<br />
Dim MyManager As LockableDataManager(Of Business) = New BusinessManager<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
'This line doesn't (Is this a bug? or is this wanted?)<br />
<br />
Dim MyManager2 As LockableDataManager(Of LockableDataObject) = New BusinessManager <br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
End Module
Thanks a lot in advance.

That is by design.
The fact that B inherits A doesn't make C(Of B) inherit C(Of A).

I get a dataset returned by a webservice.
I'd like to put the data from the dataset into an infragistics ultradatasource and then hook up the ultradatasource to an ultradatagrid.
Could someone give me some idea how I do that ? (I'm a newbie to this).
Thanks,
Nathan

I'm building a Windows Service that converts any Office Document to PDF. So far it's working for Word,PowerPoint,Acces,OutLook, etc.. but for Excel always get the following error: Faulting application mspview.exe, version 11.0.1897.0, stamp 3ef1048b, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, stamp 411096b4, debug? 0, fault address 0x0001eb33. If you run the code in normal context, works fine, but when I put the same code in my service always get error ( also open DW20.exe and my computer stuck for a while).I think that is something realted with dialog box that Excel open when print sheets ( counting pages), but I'm not sure.
Has any experience for something similar? some ideas?

I want to extract from a table when two fields are equal to two certain values.
Psuedocode: Extract from ProductPackaging WHERE ProductCategory is equal to Pasta and WHERE ProductSize is equal to 20x250g
Thank you

I am not sure what you are asking as your psuedo seems to be in the correct direction. Your query string can be:
"SELECT * FROM ProductPackaging " _
& "WHERE ProductCategory = 'Pasta' AND ProductSize = '20x250g'"
Note that the single quote is for MS SQL Server.
If the Pasta or 20x250g change then just use the value but do not forget the quote mark like:
& "WHERE ProductCategory = '" & txtPCat.text & "' AND ProductSize = '" _
& txtPSiz.text & "'"
Good Luck

Actually, that is the way you write strings according to the SQL standard, so that works everywhere.

Hi Friend.
in WebForm1
-----------
Dim Send_Data
set Send_Data = createobject("Microsoft.XMLDOM")
Send_Data.load "WebForm2.aspx?popup='data'"
In WEBForm2
-----------
Page_Load
----------
Dim Somewhere
Somewhere = Trim(Request.QueryString("popup"))
You can use the 'Somewhere' variable to display the result 'data'.
