The following code as produced different outputs for the 3 browers (the output is correct only for FF) when it was supposed to look the same for all of them. Can anybody help?

div#Container { position: absolute; z-index: 6; margin: 0 auto; }

To me it doesn't really look like its working in any browser, because what comes up for me makes no sense. However, maybe something important got left out when you copied stuff over. Anyway, I would guess, you want a header over the top of two columns menu on the left and content on the right?
If that is right then try something like this instead:
<div id="Container">
<div id="PageHeader">HEADER</div>
<div id="InnerContainer">
<div id="Menu">MENU</div>
<div id="Content">CONTENT</div>
</div>
</div>
with this style:
body,html { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; }
#Container
{
width: 750px;
margin: 15px auto;
border: solid 1px black;
}
#PageHeader
{
height: 100px;
background-color: #abcabc;
border-bottom: solid 1px black;
}
#InnerContainer {}
#Menu
{
width: 160px;
float: left;
}
#Content
{
border-left: solid 1px black;
margin-left: 161px;
}

It's all fixed now, the problem was in relative and absolute positioning.

At last someone who have a grasp on reality. Most people having such problems live under misconception that IE is the browser that is correct.
How do they differ?
I know that IE incorrectly applies text-align to block elements.
Why are you using tables in the layout? I hardly ever use a table nowadays, as they are so unpredictable.
I can't really follow how you try to position the elements, with absolute positions mixed with all kind of alignments. Perhaps the browsers get confused also. Try to make it simpler, if possible.

DJGuo wrote: "You should do this, you should do that" is your way of respect while I did not do anything that damaged this board order?
We were only trying to help you. If you don't want help that is fine. You can ignore it if you want.
DJGuo wrote: It was here I found the code I need, why you said that nobody can search and find anything here?
Because search engines like Google and MSN Search do not index the forums. They only index the articles. If you wanted your code to have a good audience you need to make it an article. Again, you can ignore this advice if you wish.
DJGuo wrote: Search engine could not bring here directly to the code I need but it can bring me into the Web Development Board for me to check.
Your code will get burried under other people's posts in a matter of days. While a search engine could bring you to Code Project it will be very difficult to find the code. People also do not tend to use Code Project's internal search capabilities. Which is why you will see that many people ask the same questions again and again.
DJGuo wrote: It was here I was forced to accept the "help" that I do like to force me to accept.
No one forced you to accept anything. As I have said, you can ignore any advice given. But you did not ignore the advice, you argued with the person giving the advice and resorted to childish name calling.
You will have noticed that neither myself nor other participants resorted to such childish antics. We respect people enough not to do that.
DJGuo wrote: Why??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have been very patient trying to explain the reasons to you. But you seem to be unable or unwilling to understand. I cannot teach someone who will not learn. (You are apparently a professor so you should understand that). "There are none so blind as those who will not see".
Does this answer your question?

hi there, before I start to explain the whole story, just some css (sample can be viewed here 'http://travalla.com/playground/screwed.htm'):
* { margin:0px; padding:0px; color:#fff;}
body { width:900px;}
#menubar { float:left; padding:10px; width:205px; background-color:#333;}
#content { float:left; width:600px; margin:0px 0px 30px 30px; padding:10px; background-color:#555;}
#content #contentimage { background-color:#777;}
#content #contentimage #info {}
#content #contentimage img { float:left;}
here the corresponding html:
<body>
<div id="menubar">menubar</div>
<div id="content">
<div id="contentimage">
<img src="img.png" />
<div id="info">A nice house in Berlin</p></div>
</div>
<h1>Screwed up test page!</h1>
<p>A longer text. A longer text. A longer text. </p>
</div>
</body>
what I'd like to achive is to have the #info part right aligned in the #contentimage section, whereas the img is left aligned (top edge of the image should be equal to the top edge of the text contained in #info) but using the css above, the h1 and p tag jump right up as well, screwing up everything. the document should continue below the image.
i would use a fixed height of the contentimage box, but I can't, for I don't know how tall the images are. i've spend now several hours testing around with clears, floats, display:block's and the like...
could you help me with this (and turn the saturday into a saturday again)?

You have nothing that will place the content below the image. That can be done by adding:
#content h1 { clear: both; }
Perhaps you want to put the main content in a division, and use the clear on that.
You should float the info division also, so that the clear is affected by it, if the info text would be larger than the image.

Hi George,
First of all thanks for your response,Style sheet is not at all a problem, My problem is as follows:
1. The option is checked [R1] by default.
2. you are selecting a file by Browse button.
3. you are switching to [R2] by clicking, so R2 option is checked
4. Again Switching back to [R1] by clicking, so R1 option is checked
Here you find the file Selected displayed in the text box[Full path of the file], I want to get it cleared. How to solve this problem.
Thanks in Advance,
Manowj

Sorry, I was confused with your code of hiding and displaying the <input type="file" /> control. So I just modified what you had.
The <input type="file" /> allows access to the client's computer. Thus, it is subject to the security controls on the client's computer. I have a solution but you may not be pleased with it:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

<input type="radio" name="optStatus" id="S2" value="r2" onclick="document.getElementById('File2').style.display='inline';document.getElementById('File1').style.display='none';" />r2

Hi,
This works fine with the clear button, But it clears all the textboxes both R1 & R2. If it clears without a button[clear button] by switching itself,it`s really good , but I want to clear specfic textboxes not all at one time.
Thanks in Advance
Manowj.

Manowj,
As I said before, due to security reasons you cannot change the "input type=file" using scripting. Please read the following:
