You didn't chage the code and all of the sudden you are getting an error?
Try resetting IIS.

Hai,
I added two asp.net 2.0 projects to my solution. i need to add reference of first project in the 2nd project. But i am not able to get any dll for the project, even after i run it. What is the problem here ?. Can anyone help
me ?
Thanks in advance

How are you adding the reference? I'd reccommend using a "Project Reference" over manually locating and referencing the resulting DLL. By doing so, Visual Studio will take responsibility for finding the output DLL and binding the correct reference for you.

Alright, I've been working on a ASP.NET/C# web site "app" for the last few weeks, and I have some questions...
Is there any such thing as a global scope for the web page? I'd like to load a couple of lists from a database just one time, and I waat those lists globally available throughout the web site. The idea is to keep from hammering the database every time a certai page is displayed.
How is something like this accomplished? Can it be?

Each web application lives in a given HTTP Context. This context is global to all pages and code running within it. Within the context is a Session object and a Cache object, both of which can be used to store arbitrary data items. A page intrinsically exposes both, but they can also be accessed outside of a page by using the static Context property Current .
The Session object that can be used to hold data that is particular to a given user. It is tied to the user session, is visible only to that particular session, and will only live as long as the session.
The Cache can be used to hold data for all objects in a given context. The context cache is not tied to a particular session, is visible to all sessions within the context, and does not expire default (barring an IIS is restart.) To control the lifetime of data in the cache, there are several options for setting expiration policies.
I'd recommend that you check out the HttpSessionState and HttpContext objects in the MSDN documentation. Hope that helps to get you started.
[EDIT x2] Fixed readability.

The second bit of code about the cache is more applicable to yourself - the cache can also be given dependencies so that it can invalidate itself if some kind of data store (file or DB) changes. Accessing the cache is considerable more performant than repeated hits to the DB.
Cache is global across the application - session is global to a particular user within the app.

Hello
Can anyone tell me the major diferences between 2003 and 2005 in ADO.NET i? where can i find a tutorial about this?

Hi there,
I need to read data from a excel spreadsheet, show on a webpage and insert into a sql server 2005 database. Need to do it in asp.net 2.0, using ado.net and VB(or C# samples will also help).
Can anyone point me to the right place?
|

There are a few ways that you can go about this, depending on how complex the spreadsheet is that you wish to read. In a simple case, you may want to consider using ADO to tap Excel as a data source. You can find a nice article on doing so here[^].
If that doesn't work for you, you may wish to consider purchasing one of the commercial components that allow you to work with the Excel native format without Office being present on the machine, such as this[^] one.
As a last resort, it is possible to install Office on the server and use the Office interop assemblies to automate Excel. Please note that I label this the last resort, because it is slower, consumes more resources, and requires client software to be installed on a server (potentially increasing the attack surface.)
Hope that helps.

Can ASP.NET script and HTML server controls be placed in an XSL file?
And if so are there any guides to using them this way?
My program uses a single page with an XML control that accepts an SQL "FOR XML" query result and as its source and an XSL file to format it.
In one case I would like the results of the query sent to drop down selection boxes.
I would like to do so without having to make an entirley new page for it, so was thinking about having HTML server controls and the coresponding scripts for those controls within the XSL file that formats the particular query.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have 2 questions

If not then anyother solution.

No, you can't, as a content tag in a master page doesn't have any specific size. A content tag doesn't represent a rectangular portion of the page, but a section of the code for the page.

I have IFRAME control on my page. I can set the 'src' property at design time, to load desired page into that control.
But how to load a page into that IFRAME control programatically? I mean:
This IFRAMe hase ID="aaa". I would like to be able to write in aspx.cs file:
aaa.url = "Page1.aspx" or something similar
How is that possible?
thank you in advance for any help

You can use attributes property to achieve the required thing. something like this:
iframeid.Attributes.Add("src","yourpage.aspx");
